Stephen Colbert
Christopher Caldwell, author of Reflections on the Revolution in Europe, a book which flirts with the Eurabia conspiracy theory appeared on the Colbert Report to discuss his book. Colbert was in full form and in his usual satirical and humorous way made short shrift of Caldwell.

LOL, wow…I really love Stephen Colbert. People only see him as a satirical comic, but they don’t know how knowledgeable and creative he is. I am glad that he is fair, and in his comedy takes a jab at everyone.
In this one, he makes Caldwell look like a blubbering fool.

The sad thing is that this obvious bigot is welcomed as a serious thinker in the press. The so-called liberal NY Times was obsessed with his book and wrote several favorable reviews of it.

I think what Caldwell is trying to do is pass off Islamophobia in a more subtle way, kind of like how David Duke shifted from overt racism to a more subtler type that can be masked. Just as dangerous no doubt.
Sincerely,
Danios.

Colbert impresses me. Even though he is clearly mocking Caldwell, it doesn’t come across as mean spirited.

Didn’t see the interview, but anyone who thinks Caldwells book is simply Islamaphobic should read it closely. It is filled with fact, impiricism and logic and portrays a very real and insideous problem. If, after reading it, you still have doubts, read Huntington and Bernard Lewis. Sorry distractors, just because Colbert may have “gotten the best of Caldwell” doesn’t mean a thing.

Check grantham has written:
“If, after reading it, you still have doubts, read Huntington and Bernard Lewis”
Yes, and after that we can read Oriana Fallaci, Bat Ye’or, Pam Geller, and all the other islamophobes around, maybe mixed with some Zionist’s insight, and we have a “clear picture” of whats going on.
Not really.
Read this, just for a start:

Theres no “islamization” of Europe.

“chuck grantham” has to be a high-quality troll, what with the goofy spelling mistakes and the classic Huntington & Lewis citations.

I will agree with Caldwell that the integration of Islam is a problem for PARTS of Europe. It is the biggest problem here in Denmark, but only because of the difficulty the homogeneous culture has in absorbing anything that isn’t typically Danish. The conflict of culture is starting to give Consevative Parties here the edge, and is causing some serious xenophobic hysteria over a Muslim takeover. And you see and hear it every day. You need look no further than the 5 Iraqi refugees that were taken out of asylum in Holmenskirke (church), and sent back to Iraq. The process was violent, and embarrassing. Rather than attacking the theory because it seems to be delegating a problem to a group, we should instead be recognizing that the theory holds relevance because of the existence of the problem itself.
