You might remember Rev. Rod Parsley from the 2008 election when Sen. McCain was forced to repudiate his endorsement due anti-Islamic comments.
From Mother Jones:
Rod Parsley, a fundamentalist pastor who John McCain praised as a “spiritual guide” during the 2008 presidential campaign, is in big trouble—demonic trouble. Parsley has claimed that Islam is “the greatest religious enemy of our civilization and the world,” and argued that the historic mission of America is to see “this false religion destroyed.” (You can watch a video highlighting those comments here. After weeks of controversy, McCain finally repudiated Parsley in May 2008.) But it’s not Islam that’s causing Parsley problems these days. It’s Satan himself. The Columbus Dispatch reports that Parsley is saying his ministry is under a “demonically inspired financial attack.” Here’s the clip from his television program, “Breakthrough”:

The proximate cause of Parsley’s trouble, it seems, is a $3 million deficit for the fourth quarter and a $3.1 million legal settlement over a 2006 incident in which a two-year-old child in a Parsley-affiliated daycare center was spanked so hard that his “buttocks and legs were covered with welts and abrasions”:
The boy, then 2, said he was spanked with a “knife” by a substitute teacher. His parents, Michael and Lacey Faieta, believe it was a ruler…. The Faietas said Parsley refused to meet personally with them and that the church did not apologize or take accountability for the beating…. Mr. Faieta said he and his wife were “disgusted” and “saddened” by Parsley’s words.
The devil works in mysterious ways.

LOL,
The devil stole this con-artists money? Strange, indeed. Why doesn’t he blame himself? Ego on these people.

Mooneye, thank you. I notice on your main page you have a section called “loon pastors”. In this category you also include “loon Rabbi’s like Hausmann, (Wafa Stalin Sultan’s backer). Perhap’s you should have 2 separate categories:-
Loon Pastors, Loon Rabbis
rather than lump them together as their theology and reasons for Islamophobia are different and it could confuse readers.
Yes, we remember this loser Rod Parsely, you mean to say, he is still making headlines? Oh well..if he is going bankrupt, i won’t be shedding any tears for him.
McCain had to repudiate the controversial Pastor Hagee (Armegeddon supporter) of CUFI too, after Bruce Wilson exposed his bigotry against Jews (he vocalised that the anti Christ would be half Jewish) when his bigotry against Islam is well known already.
Parsley is identified as a prominent player in the dominionist movement by TheocracyWatch in this article in 2005
The Rise of the Religious Right in the Republican Party

Ohio’s Patriot Pastors
The dominionists have lost influence since then, but they’re still wield too much power in America, they want to make America into a theocracy.
The Dominionists oppose a peaceful resolution to the Israeli Palestine conflict because they believe in the Armeggedon, and that an attack on Iran will trigger their rapture. They believe Israel only exists in bringing about the anti Christ and then the Messiah, after which Jews will perish or convert to their religon.

Here is more about this Rev. Parsely and his problems, it’s real funny and kookish,

Related to this is Sarah Palin…In the 2012 elections, these Christian Right pastors will play an interesting role, as they are scaring away the best of the GOP as Sarah Palin, their lady saviour’s comments signify. They are the self appointed guardians of Israel. We don’t need them.
Palin Ignites New Debate On GOP Support For Israel

Some analysts say the Palin surge is just the latest media sensation, likely to quickly fade away. University of Virginia political scientist Larry Sabato said GOP leaders understand that a Palin candidacy would be suicidal for the party
“If Palin is the GOP nominee in 2012, Obama will win easily,” he said. “It is that simple. Obama’s margin will be so large that no group is going to matter very much. A Democratic leaning segment of voters might defect to a mainstream GOP nominee, but not Palin. It isn’t even a credible threat.”

R. Bartholomew in his “Parsley Sauce” article describes the pastor perfectly: as “brazen”. A brazen beggarnaut; albeit in fine suit! Well, with a ministry called “World Harvest Church” preaching the worldly wealth gospel; his would be flock, should be wary–less they get fleeced. I’m having difficulty seeing Christ begging his flock for money so that he can live in a million dollar home & zipping around in a Cadillac or a Lexus…

Rod Parsely said:
“and argued that the historic mission of America is to see “this false religion destroyed.” ”
Ironic he should vocalise that, when it’s actually his own religon that is dying in America. Evangelism is on the decline.
Many pro-Israel Evangelical supporters are changing their stance toward’s Israel because of the bigotry, and craziness of people like Rod Parsley who paint Palestinians and by extension all Mooooslims as a threat.
Are evangelicals abandoning Israel?

A Christian columnist is lamenting what he calls a “steady erosion” of support for Israel among evangelical leaders.
Jim Fletcher of the apologetics ministry Prophecy Matters says a disturbing number of evangelical leaders are taking a skewed view of the Arab-Israeli conflict and are buying into Palestinian propaganda that blames the conflict on Israel.

I love listening to a good sermon, and yes, even if it’s on TV. But about Rod, I have to hit the “OFF” button when he comes on. All this blubbering about the “demonic attack on this great worldwide ministry” and “WE’RE IN THIS TOGETHER?!” Can you believe? Every single day he says that, and every single day I think, “I’m NOT in this at all!”
I’ve never seen this site before, but found you when I googled Parsley read more about this “satanic attack.” I am now going to “bookmark” Loonwatch.com!
Thanks
