Kumar Forgets about White Castle, runs for Congress

Posted on 02 February 2010 by Garibaldi

harold-and-kumar-go-to-white-castle-1

This Kumar isn’t going to White Castle for some tasty burgers after a wild night out smoking weed, but is setting his sights on Congress.  The Kumar we are speaking of is the less well known Vijay Kumar, who was born in Hyderabad, India and immigrated to the US in 1979. We covered two other Conservative candidates, Allen West and Lynne Torgerson, who are running on an Islamophobic platform and Kumar is no different.

Kumar seems to fit into the tea-baggers portion of the Republican party. He is a hawk on all the issues, from gun rights to immigration and of course “national security.”  His website is littered with anti-Islamic rhetoric and innuendo while sounding as genuine as a snake oil salesman.

Realistically Kumar has no prospect of winning even if he won the Republican primary, since the 5th Congressional District in Tennessee has been held by Democrats ever since Reconstruction, but anything can happen in the wily world of politics, especially when a candidate tries to play on the fears of the people.

The most instructional point that highlights Kumar’s vapid intelligence and parroting of other Conservatives is the conspiracy theory he furthers, that “Sharia is taking over the US.”

Sharia (Islamic) Law is slowly permeating America. We are focused on the global “War on Terror” and are ignoring a more dangerous threat developing right within our country.

Muslims are beginning to insist that they do not have to follow our laws and customs.

He is trying to whip up hysteria by focusing on a minority, which it turns out is not a threat to our country. According to the Pew and Gallup polls, Muslims in America are amongst the most law abiding citizens in the US and are obviously not advocating a replacement of our system of laws. One can only come to Kumar’s conclusion if you take the words of fringe extremists as representing the majority of Muslims, which is itself an essentialist process of logic.

We should roundly condemn and reject Islamic reasoning that our legal system is man-made and corrupt, while Islamic Sharia law is divine law. It is not the place of immigrants to our nation to rewrite our system of laws to suit their tastes.

Of course, no immigrant is trying to rewrite our system of laws (except maybe Orly Taitz), I haven’t seen a Sharia bill proposed by a Congressman yet but notice another interesting and revealing point, the disdain in which Kumar holds immigrants.  It seems to go right over Kumar’s head that he was an immigrant to this country and if he were by some freak miracle made a Congressman he would be writing and “re-writing laws.”  His implication is that immigrants have no place in America but to remain quiet and invisible.

All of this, when Christianity in this country is under siege by radical proponents of “separation of church and state.” Where is the outrage at these Muslim demands for special religious privilege? There seems to be no limit to the disregard for the American culture that allowed Muslims to settle in our country. How wonderful it would be if Christians enjoyed the same freedoms in Muslim nations as Muslims are taking advantage of in America. But they don’t and never will.

Christianity is under siege?  This is a country in which over 70% profess to be Christians, so it doesn’t look like Christianity is going anywhere nor is it threatened.  Kumar’s hypocrisy becomes evident, he complains that no one is watching over the Constitution as ‘evil Mooslim immigrants undermine it,’ but when it comes to his faith of choice he feels those who uphold the “separation of church and state” are radical.   One must ask Kumar where he stands in regards to the Dominionist beliefs that some of his Christian brethren harbor, does he support their cause to overturn the Constitution and replace it with Biblical laws?

In the end Kumar is just another wanna-be, right-wing, tea bag affiliated nauseating politician who attempts to sucker voters by playing off of xenophobia, hate, racism and patriotism.  A cocktail that thankfully will be rejected by most voters in his district.

What this Kumar shares with the Kumar from “Harold and Kumar” is that both are stoned. No wonder this guy speaks nonsense!

  2. Schmorgus Says:

Interesting, I looked at his homepage and it is predominantly about the “Muslim threat.” I also read a Spencer article in which they were hoping against hope that he would be the American “Geert Wilders.”
These people and their pipe dreams.

  3. Leonora Says:

“Muslims are beginning to insist that they do not have to follow our laws and customs.”
    Who is he talking about?

  4. Jihan Says:

This guy will probably have no chance of winning. He’s a neocon nut and neocons are starting to be in jeopardy due to the growing liberty movement. However, the author’s usage of the term “tea-baggers” is extremely offensive and misleading. I hope the author wasn’t intentionally aware that the term “tea-bagger” is a homosexual sex act.

Another thing: Why are mainstream Muslims so hateful or ignorant to the Tea Party movement? It is so embarrassing to see my fellow Muslim Americans to talk about such things which they have little knowledge of. Many of the Muslims also fail to see the significance of the Tea Party movement–which is derived from the pre Revolutionary War Tea Party. Why criticize those who are upset, speak out or protest the very government that works FOR THEM? And WHY NOT criticize Obama and other Progressive nuts who are the real danger to the country and our values?

I hope the author will apologize for the “tea baggers” comment.

  5. Jihan Says:

Oh and the “Tea Baggers” are NOT part of the Republican Party. The Tea Party is merely a populist, grassroots movement–so please get your facts straight!

  6. Yusuf Says:

    @Leonora

Does it matter what he’s talking about? It sounds good to the wingnut teabaggers, that’s all that matters.

  7. Surya Dharma Says:

Ah! Just what we need: another politician who is “unencumbered by the thought process”. Give the man the Click-and-Clack official T-shirt already!!

  8. Garibaldi Says:

    Jihan,

“the author’s usage of the term “tea-baggers” is extremely offensive and misleading. I hope the author wasn’t intentionally aware that the term “tea-bagger” is a homosexual sex act.”

Why are you jumping to wild conclusions? Are you part of the tea-bagger movement? I haven’t read such a ridiculous comment in ages. It is not misleading at all, anyone who reads it knows exactly what it is referring to, and that is the Fox News inspired “Tea Bag” movement not some insecurity you have about a perceived homosexual sex act.

Because Mainstream Muslims disagree with the Tea Baggers, (for good reason too) doesn’t mean they are hateful or ignorant of them. The Tea Baggers just don’t have Muslims’ interest at heart, as many of their demonstrations have shown.

  9. Danios Says:

I was scared this article was about Kal Penn. Phew!

  10. Stephen G. Parker Says:

I find it ironic that Christians are fearful of Muslims wishing to overthrow the US Constitution, when there is such an outspoken portion of US Christians who themselves think we need to have a new Constitutional Convention to completely rewrite it to make it Biblical. There was a period in my life (about 25 years ago) when I was part of the “Christian Reconstruction” and “Theonomy” movements; many of my relatives and acquaintances are still part of its milder (?) form of Dominion Theology. It’s that which I consider scary! An article at The American Muslim site (http://www.theamericanmuslim.org/tam.php/features/articles/american_muslims_must_defend_the_constitution_of_the_united_states/) contains quite a few quotes from Christian leaders that promote this frightening view.

One of my wife’s sisters sent out an e-mail (last summer) promoting such Dominion literature, in which she had this quote: “Joseph Strong stated in 1802 that our fathers adhered to the principle ‘that none ought to be elevated to public office except those whose opinions and behavior were strictly Christian’ and that ‘righteousness exalts a nation.’” When I responded that the Constitution itself denied that claim, by saying in Article VI, section 3 “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States” (as well as giving many quotes from our “founding fathers” about the separation of church and state), she just responded that she had done enough reading to know that I am wrong, and she didn’t want to talk about it! I want to tell you, no fringe group of misguided American Muslims who may want to substitute Islamic law for our Constitutional law frightens me anywhere near as much as these very outspoken (and very popular) Christian fundamentalists do. I don’t even know for sure whether there are any such extremist Islamic groups in the USA; but I know for sure the extremist Christian groups exist!

  11. Anti-Extremism Says:

    @Danios

Lol! Oh man. I also thought it was about Kal Penn! My heart literally dropped when I saw his picture! Kal Penn is involved in politics so I was sure it was him when I saw “run for Congress.” Phew.

  12. Yusuf Says:

“Why are mainstream Muslims so hateful or ignorant to the Tea Party movement?”

Maybe it’s because of all the Islamophobic signs at the tea party protests. We’re not going to be friends with a movement that hates our guts.

  13. Jihan Says:

    Garibaldi,

Again, for your ignorance, “tea bagger” is a slang term that means a homosexual sex act, only used by biased Progressives and Leftists to mock or discredit the Tea Party movement.

FYI, YES, I am a supporter of the Tea Party, because I CARE about what direction the country is going to and what the future is at stake for the United States.

The Tea Party movement was not inspired or even initiated by Fox News. Initially, it was started by RON PAUL and his supporters until others who were frustrated of this national mess joined as well. So are you now going to claim that Ron Paul doesn’t have “Muslim Interests” too? The Tea Party movement consists of Conservatives, Libertarians, Constitutionalists, Independents and other Patriots who detest big government, high taxes, interventionism, the Fed, and anything against the Constitution. So please, stop stereotyping.

“Because Mainstream Muslims disagree with the Tea Baggers, (for good reason too) doesn’t mean they are hateful or ignorant of them. The Tea Baggers just don’t have Muslims’ interest at heart, as many of their demonstrations have shown.”

Excuse me, but what do you mean by Muslim interests? I thought we were all AMERICANS and that all our interests are the same? Are you insinuating that the Progressives and Lefists–who have a notorious history in the country and around the world–have “Muslim interests”? Get real. As if Gay Marriage, Abortion, Big Government, interventionist foreign policy and Socialism are all “Muslim Interests”.

Mainstream Muslims are ignorant of the Tea Party movement because most of them have never been to one, depend on The Huffington Post as reliable sources, or know little about it in general.

Mainstream Muslims also have no problem criticizing George Bush, yet Obama has the same neocon foreign policy and socialist domestic policy. This is a huge double standard and I refuse to be apart of it.

With all do respect to you, Muslims like you are the reason why most of us will continue to cheer for Progressives who remotely represent our values and interests–and not just as Muslims, as Americans too.

  15. trunxkam45 Says:

He’s from Hyderabad. From what I understand, a lot of Hyderabadi Hindus have very unfavorable things to say about Muslims and it’s probably based on their experiences in their own local communities..

  16. Hassan Says:

Another reason this guy has no chance is because the Republican party he loves so much will never elect a guy who looks so much like a scary foreigner. And yeah, the tea party movement hates our guts. Consider that those with the most extreme views tend to feel most strongly about them, and tend to put them into action. People who bother attending protests and rallies are usually extreme, and whereas extreme liberals are free-love hippies or man-hating feminists, extreme Republicans are xenophobic Islamophobes who delight in social darwinism.

The major red-flag with these tea party people is they were NOT protesting or holding their rallies during Bush’s wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. They never protested his massive spending or his dozens of highly publicized and humiliating scandals, including extraordinary rendition to foreign torture facilities, or no-bid contracts to the corporation Cheney used to run.

The Bush administration brought so many well-meaning intellectually honest people onto the streets in protest, worldwide, for years, that one must ask why the current tea partiers were conspicuously absent. As one proud teapartier noted: These aren’t professional protesters. Most of them have never protested anything in their lives.

    Exactly.

  17. C. Says:

“Why are mainstream Muslims so hateful or ignorant to the Tea Party movement?”

I wouldn’t say that Muslims are “hateful or ignorant to the Tea Party movement,” but I would say that most Muslims view these Tea Party nitwits the same way black people view the KKK–and for the same reason. Why should Muslims want to join a group of yokels who hate Muslims?

  18. Lex, Agent of Chaos Azagthoth Says:

But what will Harold do? Escape back to White Castle?

Sorry if my posts are a bit offff….I got some seriouz whiplash…Never ibss seeing doublvsss dammit double vision..jj

  19. Lex, Agent of Chaos Azagthoth Says:

OK, sorry, I was on quite a few muscle relaxants last night. But now I can feel the sharia creeping ALL over me. Wow, what a phenomenon.

  20. Shuama Says:

    Jihan
The tea party movement, is part of the Republican Party, they are conservatives for the most part.Bush came in,he grew the government like his predecesors, increased spending but these guys were nowhere to be found during Bush`s term. The main rallying point for them was the healthcare issue.I am sure you have heard the horror stories of Universal healthcare and the fact that there are people who come to the US for treatment and since one Danny Williams, the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador,Canada, just came to America for heart surgery.Keep in mind that this is a man who has been trashing the medical system of the United States in his own country, talking about how good Canada`s healthcare system was,now he wants to use the same system he has been rubbishing for years. This is nail in the coffin for any plans the Democrats had.

I hate to say it,but it seems these tea party guys do have a point on healthcare and spending, but it would have been great if they protested during Bush`s term too, other than that, they do not like us one bit.If you have the likes sof Robert Spencer praising these guys,be careful

  21. Shuama Says:

The funny thing about this Kumar guy is that since he is running Tennesee, all they have to do is call him a ‘Muslim’ or ‘he was once a Muslim’ and he will lose that primary,in his own party. The same thing they tried with Obama.

  22. jos Says:

    @ trunxman

Don’t try to blame the victims.

If I have had nasty experiences with a lot of Christians I still do not have an excuse for spreading hate against Christians and Christianity.

  23. Teabaggite Says:

Let’s not forget that AtlasFug-ly webmaster pamela is his #1 cheerleader. Can you imagine her in a cheerleader outfit? Just threw up in my mouth..

  24. Schlaftius Says:

Interesting how a Hindu Immigrant from Hyderabad is anti-immigrant and pro-Christian. If elected, he will change the constitution and replace it with vedic laws where widows are burnt at the bonfires of their husbands’ corpses. I am worried about this racist Hindutva immigrant, deceiving Americans he is Christian and American.

  25. Pat is Creepy Says:

lool, nice twist on this article, fun read. This Vijay is scary though. The rising Hindu Islamophobia is underrated.

  26. Imad Says:

    @ schlaftius:

that’s kind of hateful when u say that if elected, he will probably change the constitution. It’s like the islamiphobes screaming “creeping sharia”

  27. barenakedislam Says:

Seems like anti-Islamist candidates are popping up all over. And thank God for that. Here’s the latest candidate running to unseat the Muslim terrorist sympathizer Democrat from Minnesota, Keith Ellison:
    http://barenakedislam.wordpress.com/2010/02/25/lynne-torgerson-another-anti-islamist-candidate-running-for-congress/

  28. IbnAbuTalib Says:

idiot:Seems like anti-Islamist candidates are popping up all over. And thank God for that.

Did you thank God when Ellison was elected to office?

  29. barenakedislam Says:

Ellison IS an Islamist, you fool.

  30. IbnAbuTalib Says:

Was God behind Ellison’s being elected into office? If not, why?
