Aasiyah Hassan and Muzzammil Hassan
There was a case a while back in which a Muslim murdered his wife by gruesomely beheading her with a sword. The Islamophobic blogosphere jumped all over the incident and declared that he was motivated by Islam. What fueled their mirthful hatred further was that the murderer was Muzzammil Hassan who had created a television network, Bridges TV to dispel misconceptions about Islam. It was obviously a terrible case of domestic violence and had nothing to do with religion and now the judge in the case has also said as much. Will the Islamophobes take back their smearing of Islam as the culprit in this case? Don’t hold your breathe.
Religion not a factor in Beheading
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The founder of an Islam-oriented television station who is accused of beheading his wife is due in a Buffalo courtroom for proceedings in advance of his murder trial.
Muzzammil “Mo” Hassan is tentatively scheduled to stand trial later this month for the death of his wife, Aasiyah Hassan, last year.
Pretrial motions are scheduled for Friday.
Hassan’s attorney plans a defense that includes claims that Hassan was abused by his wife and emotionally out of control. But prosecutors are fighting the use of a psychiatric defense.
The Pakistan-born Hassans started Bridges TV in 2004, in part to dispel negative Muslim stereotypes.
Muzzammil Hassan was served divorce papers shortly before his wife’s slaying.

What Muzzammil Hassan did was disgusting, and he should face punishment as such. His chosen method of killing his wife might have been because that is the traditional way of killing someone in Islamic history, but muslim teachings were not the reason he killed his wife.
Of course, the Islamophobes would like people to believe otherwise, and the moment you point out their mistake, they start making sarcastic remarks – did anyone not tell them that someone once said that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit?
It should also be noted that murdering someone is evil, no matter which way you do it. In America thousands of people are shot dead, stabbed, beaten around the head, and … dismembered (!!!), by non-muslims, each year. Does this mean that their murder is any less “barbaric” than someone being beheaded?

This isn’t that hard to believe. When “Islam is the religion of peace” is taken as an article of faith, that makes it impossible to see what is right in front of one’s eyes.
The Qu’ran mentions beheading twice (8:12; 47:4).
And how many Christians, Hindus, or Atheists, even the worst wife abusers among them, have EVER cut off their wife’s head?

what a stupid thing to say. Of course, in Islam there is a saying of the Prophet that says that the best amongst you are those that are the best to their wives. But Islamophobes like you will always overlook this, and will try and make everything bad that happens be because of Islam.

Lawrence – You are both right and wrong. iSherif does indeed recognize the true face of Islam, but he has not just ’started’ to do so; he has known all along. “How can a good Muslim even think of murder???” THAT is the true face of Islam! It is you, who in your willful blindness and ignorance have not yet seen the reality of Islam.
Islam means submission to, and heartfelt devotion to, the One God (Who is full of Compassion and Mercy). The true Muslim has God (and the law of God) in his heart; to violate Allah’s law is unthinkable. This is the law of Allah (the One God): “That is why We decreed for the children of Israel that whosoever kills a human being, except (as punishment) for murder or for spreading corruption in the land, it shall be like killing all humanity; and whosoever saves a life, saves the entire human race. Our apostles brought clear proofs to them; but even after that most of them committed excesses in the land” (Qur’an 5:32). Punishment for murder and for the spread of violent crime (corruption) are the only reasons allowed for taking another person’s life. Other than that, taking one person’s life is like slaughtering all of humanity. Here is another Qur’anic verse about murder: “Do not kill each other, for God is merciful to you” (4:29) Because God is merciful to us, we should emulate Him by being merciful to each other – which is exactly the opposite of committing acts of violence and murder. May God have mercy on you, and lead you to the straight path.
