Bomb Attacks on the Rise…in Ireland, What if they were Muslim?

Should we blame Catholicism for this rise in violence? Or Protestantism? If a Muslim nation were to see a rise in such violence you can be sure that Islam would be blamed. (hat tip: Mike)

Bomb attacks double in Northern Ireland

By Ian Graham

BELFAST (Reuters) – Bomb attacks in Northern Ireland have doubled over the last year, police figures showed on Thursday, evidence that dissident pro-Irish nationalists have stepped up activities to try to derail political stability.

A 1998 deal largely ended three decades of violence but small groups of dissidents say nationalists betrayed their cause by entering politics alongside pro-British unionists instead of pressing a fight for full independence from Britain.

A local election last week boosted the status quo when the ruling coalition was returned with a greater majority.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said 99 viable bombs either exploded or were defused by army experts in the year to the end of March, compared with 50 a year ago.

The security threat level stands at severe and police officers — especially Catholics who have been encouraged to join the force — have been targeted.

At the beginning of April, a car bomb killed a 25 year-old Catholic constable. One man has been charged in connection with the bombing and a woman is being questioned by detectives.

Ronan Kerr was the second Catholic officer to be murdered in two years, several more have been severely wounded or had narrow escapes.

Security chiefs fear the dissidents will launch new attacks on either side of the Irish border to coincide with next week’s visit to the Irish Republic by Queen Elizabeth — the first by a British monarch since Irish independence nearly a century ago.

One dissident group, the Real IRA, used an Easter message to oppose the visit, saying she was wanted for war crimes.

The PSNI have loaned a specially adapted bomb and bullet proof Range Rover to the Irish authorities for the Queen to travel in during her four day visit.

Thursday’s police figures show that 188 people were arrested under the Terrorism Act, compared with 169 the year before. Those charged rose to 40 from 36.

As well as bombings there were 72 shooting incidents, 33 casualties resulting from paramilitary style shootings and 81 paramilitary style assaults.

Ordinary crime has hit a 13 year low and Chief Constable Matt Baggott said that was a reflection of the increasing acceptability of the PSNI in largely Catholic areas where the police were traditionally viewed with hostility.

“Despite the challenges we face, policing is working,” he said. “Falling crime shows that we have been embraced by the communities and we will repay the faith they are showing in us by working to sustain and improve our performance.”

The Oath of the Knights of Columbus
“I, …………, now in the presence of Almighty God, the blessed Virgin Mary, the blessed St. John the
Baptist, the Holy Apostles, St. Peter and St. Paul, and all the saints, sacred host of heaven, and to you,
my Ghostly Father, the superior general of the Society of Jesus rounded by St. Ignatius Loyola, in the
pontification of Paul the III and continued to the present, do by the womb at the Virgin, the matrix of
God, and the rod of Jesus Christ, declare and swear that His Holiness the Pope, is Christ’s vice regent
and is the true and only head of the Catholic or Universal Church throughout the earth; and that by
virtue of the keys of binding and loosing given His Holiness by my Savior, Jesus Christ, he hath power
to depose heretical kings, princes, States, Commonwealths, and Governments and they may be safely
destroyed. Therefore to the utmost of ray power I will defend this doctrine and His Holiness’s right and
custom against all usurpers of the heretical or Protestant authority whatever, especially the Lutheran
Church of Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway and the now pretended authority and
Churches of England and Scotland, and the branches of same now established in Ireland and on the
Continent of America and elsewhere, and all adherents in regard that they may be usurped and heretical,
opposing the sacred Mother Church of Rome.”
“I do now denounce and disown any allegiance as due to any heretical king, prince, or State, named
Protestant or Liberals, or obedience to any of their laws, magistrates, or officers.”
“I do further declare that the doctrine of the Churches of England and Scotland, of the Calvinists,
Huguenots, and others of the name of Protestants or Masons to be damnable, and they themselves to be
damned who will not forsake the same.”
“I do further declare that I will help assist, and advise all or any of His Holiness’s agents, in any place
where I should be, in Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Ireland, or America, or in any other kingdom or
territory I shall come to and do my utmost to extirpate the heretical Protestant or Masonic doctrines and
to destroy all their pretended powers, legal or otherwise.”
“I do further promise and declare that, notwithstanding I am dispensed with to assume any religion
heretical for the propagation of the Mother Church’s interest to keep secret and private all her agents’
counsels from time to time, as they intrust me and not divulge, directly or indirectly, by word, writing,
or circumstances whatever but to execute all that should be proposed, given in charge or discovered unto
me by you my Ghostly Father, or any of this sacred order.”
“I do further promise and declare that I will have no opinion or will of my own or any mental
reservation whatsoever, even as a corpse or cadaver (perinde ac cadaver), but will unhesitatingly obey
each and every command that I may receive from my superiors in the militia of the Pope and of Jesus
    Christ.”
“That I will go to any part of the world whithersoever I may be sent, to the frozen regions north, jungles
of India, to the centers of civilization of Europe, or to the wild haunts of the barbarous savages of
America without murmuring or repining, and will be submissive in all things whatsoever is
    communicated to me.”
“I do further promise and declare that I will, when opportunity presents, make and wage relentless war,
secretly and openly against all heretics, Protestants and Masons, as I am directed to do to extirpate them
from the face of the whole earth; and that I will spare neither age, sex, or condition, and that will hang,
bum, waste, boil, flay, strangle, and bury alive these infamous heretics; rip up the stomachs and wombs
of their women, and crush their infants’ heads against the wails in order to annihilate their execrable
race. That when the same can not be done openly, I will secretly use the poisonous cup, the strangulation
cord, the steel of the poniard, or the leaden bullet, regardless of the honor, rank, dignity, or authority of
the persons, whatever may be their condition in life, either public or private, as I at any time may be
directed so to do by any agents of the Pope or superior of the Brotherhood of the Holy Father of the
    Society of Jesus.”
“In confirmation of which I hereby dedicate my life, soul, and all corporal powers, and with the dagger
which I now receive I will subscribe my name written in my blood in testimony thereof; and should I
prove false or weaken in my determination, may my brethren and fellow soldiers of the militia of the
Pope cut off my hands and feet and my throat from ear to ear, my belly opened and sulphur burned
therein with all the punishment that can be inflicted upon me on earth and my soul shall be tortured by
    demons in eternal hell forever.”
“That I will in voting always vote for K. of C, in preference to a Protestant, especially a Mason, and that
I will leave my party so to do; that if two Catholics are on the ticket I will satisfy myself which is the
better supporter of Mother Church and vote accordingly.”
“That I will not deal with or employ a Protestant if in my power to deal with or employ a Catholic.
That I will place Catholic girls in Protestant families that a weekly report may be made of the inner
    movements of the heretics.”
“That I will provide myself with arms and ammunition that I may be in readiness when the word is
passed, or I am commanded to defend the church either as an individual or with the militia of the
    Pope.”
“All of which I, …………, do swear by the blessed Trinity and blessed sacrament which I am now to
receive to perform and on part to keep this, my oath.”
“In testimony hereof, I take this most holy and blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist and witness the same
further with my name written with the point of this dagger dipped in my own blood and seal in the face
    of this holy sacrament.”
(This is an extract of the Congressional Record of the House of Representatives dated February 15,
1913, where the oath is entered as purported to be of the Knights of Columbus and is most identical
almost word for word to the Extreme Oath and Induction of the Society of Jesus thus giving evidence
that the Jesuits were the originators of this demonic oath ).

My apologies, the “Red Hand of Ulster” predates the Protestant colonisation of Ireland, but has been appropriated by Loyalist Protestant Paramiltary organisations such as the Ulster Volunteer Force and Ulster Freedom Fighters.

  • David Rowland

@Slevdi, if my understanding is correct, the Kamikaze or “Divine Wind” were motivated by the Samurai ethos of fight unto the death in service of the Emperor Hirahito. The Emperor was considered a living god, and as part of the surrender conditions imposed by the US at the end of WW2 he was required to renounce hie living god status. The suicide missions were therefore divinely inspired.

Further on the note of suicide bombing, i believe Davey Crocket and his fellow US patriots had The Alamo primed with high explosive in order to take out the Mexicans along with their own persons, during its defense. So it would seem the US is not shy of suicide bombing either. I beleive the defenders of The Alamo are celebrated as heroes, what if they were Muslim!!!!

As for the Irish its true that they are currently divided along republican/loyalist political lines. However, historically this was very much a religiously inspired conflict. The Irish have a long unbroken history of Catholicism, and when the Englsih colonised Ireland they set about a process of ethnic cleansing (so to speak), particularly under the Puritan Lord Protector of England Oliver Cromwell who presided over and ordered the systematic colonisation of Ulster by Protestant Scotsmen. This was furthered by William of Orange whose “Red Hand of Ulster” claimed Ireland as a protestant land, and which adorns many Protestant Loyalist insignia.

Slevdi, so you have to admit Muslim extremists aren’t unique when it comes to suicide attacks. Islam and its supposed “heavenly rewards” are not necessary for someone to blow themselves up. There are many other reasons someone could use a suicide tactic, even if he doesn’t expect anything in the afterlife.

Danios has said he will discuss the use of the scriptures today in a separate article.

  • Slevdi Davoteca

@Mosizzle – not only are Tamil Tigers not Muslim, their founder was a Christian! They are regarded as secular as they weren’t motivated by scriptures. The Kamikazi were neither Muslim nor Christian. I don’t recall what motivated them. Probably honour.

@NassirH – thanks the info. Is this sort of thing is still going on?

  • NassirH

    Slevdi Davoteca:

The Catholic Church promised both temporal and heavenly rewards for those who fought in crusades, which were waged against Muslims, heretics in Southern France, and the Scandinavians — who were consequently converted to Christianity, incidentally.

  • Mosizzle

Slevdi, Tamil Tigers are suicide bombers yet none of them are Muslim. In fact, they are credited with first inventing the suicide belt.

Islam or the “heavenly rewards” it supposedly offers are not necessary for suicide terrorism to happen. It can be and has been used as a tactic by others.

The Irish terrorists are still willing to die for their cause, though it is true that they have not made use of suicide bombers and I would rather they didn’t.

  • Slevdi Davoteca

@bboyblue – the concept of Ireland being occupied is as contentious as an occupied Palestine. To be occupied, a country needs to have existed as a coherently governed entity beforehand. Ireland has never existed as a unified country under one ruler or government – apart from being a part of Britain. The Irish republican movement are separatists.

I think the comparison of Irish republican terrorism and Islamic terrorism is really worth evaluating. They are born out of totally different philosophical standpoints and produce similarly monstrous events but the perps have a different attitude to preserving their own lives. Why no IRA suicide bombers? This, I believe, would make an excellent topic for Danios.

  • @kahn4

Yes, technically it generally is Catholics v Protestants but it has more to do with Republicans v Unionists (the groups are divided along much the same lines), and unsurprisingly stems from occupation and imperialism. Who’d have thunk it.

It’s a problem in Scotland too and manifests itself through football (soccer) rivalries. It has escalated in recent month with the manager (head coach) of Glasgow Celtic recieving death threats, bullets in the post and parcel bombs. He has to notify the police of his every movement, he has a panic button in his home and was physically attacked pitchside this week.

Far right-wingers are rioting in Greece. Immigrants from Africa and Asia (likely mostly Muslims) are being targeted and some have been killed recently, including a 21 year old Bangladeshi man. Despite this, the good folks commenting on Yahoo’s thread generally side with the murderers against the perpetually evil libruls and Moozlims.

Mosizzle: True, but you know retards like Kelly and his group of delusional clowns do a good job of allocating the resources of the Irish. They provide a much needed distraction ironically speaking.

  • Mosizzle

^An Irish Anjem Choudary, who’d have thought it?

Nonetheless, I think Ireland is not as concerned with Islamic extremists considering that Irish nationalists planted 99 “viable bombs” this year alone.

  • Dan

And in other news, Khalid Kelly, the notorious Irish convert who praised al-Qaeda and the Taliban, has been arrested for death threats to Obama.

    @khan4
yeah that will be fun to see there he was having a trial accusing the muslim community of supporting terrorists and he is on record supporting the terrorist group ira obviously he was the right person for the job considering how not hypocritical his pointing fingers trial really is.

  • khan4

@Mindy: If I understand the situation correctly, I believe this matter has very little to do with faith. It has more to do with land. Northern Ireland is considered, by many people from Ireland, to be occupied by the British. It’ very similar to the Palestinian issue. Israel and Ireland have land issues where the lines are drawn based on faith, however the key issue is land control.

Anyway, let us see if Peter King starts fundraising for the IRA again. I would, at the least, would like to see how he would respond to such an article.

  • mindy1

This is so sad 🙁 why hate someone because of faith??
