Bryan Fischer: Muslims Can Either Convert…or Die

Looks like the Crusades are on again. Imagine if Fischer were some Mullah instead of a Christian?

From RightwingMediaWatch:

The only thing that will give us a shot at building a democracy in an Islamic land is a mass conversion of its people to biblical Christianity. So that means if we want to see freedom come to those darkened, benighted lands, we should be sending missionaries in right after we send in the Marines to neutralize whatever threat has been raised against the United States. So we say to them, look, if you don’t want our missionaries, fine, that’s your choice, we’ll take our missionaries and our Marines, we’ll take them home, but we’re gonna let you know we have no hesitation about returning with lethal force if the forces in your country threaten us again. This time it’s Marines and missionaries, next time it’ll be Marines and missiles.

This disturbed gentleman seems to think that democracy is somewhat linked to the Bible…that is a pure lie, it has no basis of authenticity; the Bible nowhere teaches about human rights and democratic freedoms, rather the Bible is all about tyrannical monarchies, genocides and violent intolerance towards the infidels(all that was so typical of premodern christian western civilization)…human rights and democratic freedoms a product of the liberal political thought of the Enlightenment, and Enlightenment was a rebellion against the very same christian totalitarism that Bryan Fischer and his right wing genocidal loons represent.

  • Maybe someone should inform Fischer that with the successful revolution in Egypt in February, 72 million Muslims were celebrating a new political order – not a new state religion.

  • Zakariya Ali Sher

Really Snackbar? You don’t think that he’s getting this solely from Western culture, which by it’s very nature, assumes that there is only a single path, namely itself. How many cultures or religions have been able to co-exist with Western culture pray tell? Didn’t work out so well for the American Indians, did it. Or for the blacks who were scattered across the Atlantic world as slaves, their very culture, religion and languages destroyed in many foreign lands. Nor did it work out for the Jews and Bosniaks and Georgians and other victims of the 20th centuries various genocides in the name of Nationalism.

As I see it, it looks a lot like Western civilization is fundamentally incapable of co-existing as equals with any other cultures or civilizations. It’s pretty much convert or die, and there is a disturbing political trend against multiculturalism of any sort. I’m half surprised that I don’t see you morons throwing out more crap like anti-miscegenation laws (though Orianna Fallati DID, so Spencer and co. probably support that crap too).

  • Mosizzle

Are you really that stupid, snackbar? Even when a Christian does something wrong in the name of Christianity, Islam is still to blame…

    That is messed up.

  • Khushboo

yes, we should all convert and become as hateful as Bryan. He needs a labotomy.

  • hellosnackbar

It seems like this madman is plagiarising the Koran for his own ends.

  • Scarlett

Why do all the hate-mongers hide behind religion? This man is no more a true Christian, than the Taliban are good Muslims or the Zionists are Jews following the Torah!

It’s about time the world woke up to reality, separated the egomaniacal wannabe leaders from the religious servants of God and kicked them into the asylum where they belong!

  • Hatethehaterz

Nur Alia, that was a really nice video Mashallah. She said some very nice things. Its just too bad she is in an extreme minority amongst her people. Sadly, most of them are closer to this Fischer clown in mentality.

  • Nur Alia

    Brothers and sisters…

Please listen to this Christian pastor defend Islam. Lets counter the hate of this man…with the love and passion, and real example of following Jesus (pbuh)

  • Nur Alia

..and for the past 150 or so years, it has been soldiers and missionaries…and when we reject the missionaries, just the soliders with thier bombs.

    So…what exactly has changed here?

  • Farlowe

    Sadia ….agreed.

  • sadia

he is as far away from the teachings of prophet Isa(Jesus) peace be upon him, as the moon is from our planet and yet this bigot calls himself follower of prophet isa alaihissalaam!

tch tch…is there a rehab to fix up these guys???

  • AJ

Why is this not criminal to be threatening a population with murder? Can I threaten some one with murder publicly if they refuse to convert? Is there a limit to free speech? I see an impending Holocaust for Muslims. This is getting beyond just ordinary hatemongering.

  • Abdulmajid

What a disgusting bigot TWERP! Idiot! JACKASS! And since he wishes spiritual as well as physical death for Muslims: Genocidal! Fascist! Nazi! And worse: his ideas are not just 19th century but Spanish Inquisition as well. And what is so scary about him: from what he says one gets the impression he actually believes what he says. Some Bosniak officer during the war in Bosina said about the Serbs who were out to commit genocide against his people, and justified it with the most abstruse and false pretexts (which I’m not gonna repeat here; anybody with a modicum of education should know them): “I’m not afraid of them but of the notion that these people actually believe what they say.”

  • mindy1

Jeez what a nut. Our Marines should be used to help people, not to foster some evangelical’s biblical power trip. He is an ass

  • FXG

Does this idiot know that most Muslims live in south Asia where everyone of those countries are democracies even with WOMEN as their Prime Minister???

Bangladesh, Indonesia, India(yes), Pakistan, Malaysia contain about 70-75% of Muslims and the three of them had women as their leader. Turkey is another one. In-fact as we speak Bangladesh’s Prime Minister is a women along with the opposition leader another women for the past 4 terms(5 years each term) 20 years. Something which no western country has achieved where both the opposition and the party in power led by women.

The Indian subcontinent alone has more Muslims than the whole middle east.

  • Hatethehaterz

So now forcing your religion and way of life on someone who doesn’t want it is “democracy?” Why are these hatemongers so hypocritical? News flash. Islam is a form of democracy too. Democracy is the rule of the people, where everyone has an equal say in decisions that affect their lives. If the majority of people in an area are practicing Muslims and choose to live the Islamic way of life, then that is democracy too. Democracy isn’t limited to just the western or judeo-christian way of life. And forcing someone to follow YOUR set of beliefs and values is the very definition of oppression and injustice. Hypocrits. And they call us backwards.

  • NassirH

The only thing that will give us a shot at building a democracy in an Islamic land is a mass conversion of its people to biblical Christianity.

Yeah, because only “biblical Christians” (whatever that means) are able to run democracies properly. Forget the fact that many Muslim majority countries have democracies and hundreds of thousands of Muslims in recent months have protested and indeed died for more democratic government. Considering that many (if not most) democratic countries are mostly non-Christian or only nominally Christian, at best, Fischer’s little theory fall flat. Some of the most religiously Christian countries are plagued by war, crime and corruption. Furthermore, many of the most totalitarian countries in the Muslim world have been militantly secular, including Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Syria, Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, and the Pahlavi’s Iran.

So that means if we want to see freedom come to those darkened, benighted lands, we should be sending missionaries in right after we send in the Marines to neutralize whatever threat has been raised against the United States.

Sounds like old school European Imperialism. I hope it doesn’t involve inquisitions, as was the case with the Spanish and the Portuguese. The Goa Inquisition in India, established by the Portuguese, continued from 1560 to 1820 (albeit with a four year pause). It targeted people who were accused of secretly practicing Islam or Hinduism, as well as Christians who weren’t the “right kind” of Christians. I hope it accomplished its goal of spreading democracy and freedom.

Lol, marines, missionaries, and missiles have been targeting the Muslims world relentlessly for quite some time.

Anyways, where is Spencer to tell us that Fischer is misunderstanding Christianity? This modern, moderate, secular United States of ‘Merika, for goodness’ sake. The fact is that Spencer likely agrees with Fischer, just like many of his fans.

  • Crow

Brian fischer sure is a badass when he’s talking on his radio show or typing on his blog. Why don’t you go evangilize over there brian? Is it because you know you’d find out what a great religion Islam is and become a Muslim? I cant say youd convert because I dont belive you’re a christian, but youre a loud mouth punk.

  • Zakariya Ali Sher

What a jackass. I’m disgusted by the fact that people like this are given money and fame simply because they can spout the most hateful rhetoric to their followers. It is a sad day for America and a sad day for Christianity when the likes of him are spitting on the teachings of Jesus. He’s little better than the brain dead hate-mongers who spew Wahhabi regurgitated garbage in the Middle East. Maybe we should just lock them all in a room somewhere and be done with them all.

    > The only thing that will give us a shot at building a democracy in an
    > Islamic land

Really? So Turkey isn’t a democracy? Senegal? Indonesia? Lebanon? Albania? Bosnia-Herzegovina? Bangladesh? Azerbaijan? Mali? I love that these guys intentionally limit ‘Islamic lands’ to a few dictatorships in the Middle East while intentionally ignoring every other Muslim-majority country in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.

    > is a mass conversion of its people to biblical Christianity.

Really? Note the emphasis of ‘Biblical’ there. It’s a typical evangelical code word. He doesn’t mean the Armenian Apostolic Church, Coptic Orthodox Church, Church of Latter Day Saints, Kimbanguism or even mainline Protestants like the Lutherans, Methodists and Anglicans. No… what he means is evangelical/pentecostal churches… the only “true” Christian under their fundamentalist world view.

Anyway, as I said in an earlier comment, this sort of thinking goes back to medieval fantasies that viewed Islam as some sort of evil heresy that needed to be crushed. As if suddenly people would convert overnight and become just like Europeans. Mass conversions like that generally don’t happen, not when groups have adopted a world religion. There are some exceptions (the various Turkic tribes went from Shamanism to Zoroastrianism and Buddhism to Christianity to Islam). But as a general rule, groups societies where a proselytizing ‘world’ religion has taken root rarely seem to change faiths. Otherwise the Armenians and Copts would have died out centuries ago, and as would groups like the Cham (Hindus and Muslims surrounded by Buddhists) and Kalmyks (Buddhists in a mostly Christian country). Hell, Europeans would have probably converted to Islam en mass!

Even if that were the case, social customs do not die out simply because people switch faiths, regardless of the whole ‘born-again’ mythology. Many of the things westerners associate with Islam, from so-called ‘honour killings’ to tribal shura councils to drinking tea, go back to pre-Islamic customs. Some of which are actually counter to Islam! The same is true in Christianity. The Easter Bunny and Christmas Tree are pagan symbols which were simply incorporated into western Christianity. So was the use of the Roman calendar and the Latin language. All societies do it.

But getting back on track here, why would Christianity improve anything? Ethiopia is an ancient Christian country, and they face many of the same problems as their Muslim neighbors. Russia is wracked with crime and poverty yet overwhelmingly Christian. Congo is about 90% Christian, with over half the population being Catholic (and a significant minority being Kimbanguist), yet they just went through a second Civil War which left over 6 million people dead. Mexico is something like 95% Christian (overwhelmingly Catholic but with strong Mormon and evangelical/pentecostal minorities) yet suffers from corruption and drug trafficking. Need we go on? Given that much of Latin America, the South Pacific, Eastern Europe and black Africa is Christian it wouldn’t be hard to paint a picture of corruption and poverty

    > So that means if we want to see freedom come to those darkened,
    > benighted lands,

Darkened, benighted lands? Hah! If that was the case then why do so many Americans (and Europeans) want to visit countries like Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan? Why are so many expats settling in Dubai and Qatar and elsehwere in the Gulf and never coming back? Personally it seems to me you guys are more jealous of our rich culture and beautiful landscapes than anything else!

    > we should be sending missionaries in right after we send in the Marines

They already do. Evangelical money raising efforts have been sending Arabic and Dari Bibles to conflict zones since the war began.

    > to neutralize whatever threat has been raised against the United States.

I’m sorry, when was the last time Iraq invaded the US? Maybe it was Libya? Oh no wait, maybe Iran… or Syria… or whomever you plan on invading next.

    > So we say to them, look, if you don’t want our missionaries, fine,
    > that’s your choice, we’ll take our missionaries and our Marines

Convert or die. I wonder who’s next? The Hindus? Buddhists? Maybe one of those African tribal religions…

    > we’ll take them home

Good. By all means do so instead of building big ass eyesores like the new embassy in Baghdad…

    > but we’re gonna let you know we have no hesitation about returning with
    > lethal force if the forces in your country threaten us again.

    See above.

    > This time it’s Marines and missionaries, next time it’ll be Marines and
    > missiles.

    LOL Wut?
