Peter King Plans To Keep Probing For Muslim ‘Radicalization’ In 2012

Posted on 10 February 2012 by Emperor

Good old IRA terror supporting congressman Peter King:

Peter King Plans To Keep Probing For Muslim ‘Radicalization’ In 2012

The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee signaled Thursday he intends to keep investigating the American Muslim community despite a report this week that showed the number of Muslim extremists arrested for terrorism is on the wane.

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), said he would resume his controversial hearings on radicalization among Muslim-Americans this year despite critics who say the focus on one ethnic group fuels bigotry and paranoia.

The chairman also said the committee would hold hearings on Islamist money coming into the United States and on “Iran’s intelligence services, proxies such as Hezbollah, and its ally of convenience, al-Qaeda; and the looming Iranian terror threat to the homeland.”

King will also continue his probe of leaks to a Hollywood filmmaker of classified details of the raid to kill Osama bin Laden, as well as about operations at the detention center at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, saying they “could endanger the lives of our intelligence officers and special operators, their families, and the homeland.”

Previous hearings led by King last year on the same topic awakened a storm of controversy, with critics questioning whether Congress should single out a specific minority group as a possible threat to national security.

King held the controversial hearings, bearing the title “The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and that Community’s Response.” Opponents such as Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) said the hearings dredged up the dark days of McCarthyism and only served to “vilify” a segment of the American population.

Also on the committee’s agenda this year is an investigation of “the possible roles that the deceased al-Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki and his at-large associates, Daoud Chehazeh and Eyad al-Rababah, might have played in facilitating the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.”

In addition, the committee plans to review security preparations for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and seek obtaining Purple Heart medals for the military victims of the 2009 terror attacks in Little Rock, Ark., and at Fort Hood, Texas.

The committee has scheduled its first hearing of the year on Wednesday, when Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will testify on President Obama’s 2013 budget request, expected Monday.

    BronxBrawler,

If Islam is to be named whenever a ‘Muslim extremist’ is arrested, then I want the faith of every and any criminal arrested to be displayed before anything else. Fair is fair and then we can formulate our informed opinion. Right?

Yes, there are ‘Muslim’ extremists out there (I deny that one can be a ‘Muslim’ and still be a ‘terrorist’ since it goes against the tenets of the faith) but at the same time there are ‘extremists’ of every sort out there. That is life, let us deal with it. Only one faith right now gets its name dragged through the mud based on the actions of a few; Islam.

Lets be honest you are talking bollocks . There is no evidence because its not true . Its just wishful thinking by the paranoid

  • BronxBrawler

Lets be honest about this….one of the reasons that the number of MUSLIM extremists arrested is because the Obama administration has declared that the reporting of these attacks not mention Islam. I am open to looking at all sides of any issue but hate that everyone tried to “spin” everything. How bout giving the people the truth for a change and letting them formulate an informed opinion.

This guy is such a joke with his IRA supporting past! He claims it was okay that he supported the IRA’s militant activity against the British because they allegedly weren’t “anti-American” (even though they did kill an American in one of their IRA bombings in England). But then at the same time this clown King turns around and denounces people for allegedly supporting the Hamas movement in Palestine even though Hamas has always stated that the imperialist Zionist entity (aka so-called “Israel”) is their enemy and that is who they attack (i.e. the Zionist occupation of the land of Palestinem that is from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea). Unless “Israel” has officially become the 51st state of the United States (they might as well be with all the US taxpayer money and US weapons they get thanks to the Zionist lobby AIPAC controlling the US government, as agents of a foreign government i.e. “Israel”) then someone opposing or even attacking “Israel” should not make them be considered “terrorists” by the US government (as Peter King himself said again he was right to support the IRA against the British because they only fought the British occupation not Americans)!

Derry man admits 200lb Strand Road car bomb charges
Police at bomb scene A number of businesses were damaged in the explosion

A 43-year-old Londonderry man has admitted a car bomb attack at the city’s Strand Road PSNI Station.

No-one was injured in the August 2010 bombing, claimed by dissident republicans Oglaigh na hEireann, but several businesses were badly damaged.

Philip O’Donnell, of Baldrick Crescent, pleaded guilty to causing an explosion likely to endanger life.

O’Donnell also admitted hijacking the taxi containing the 200lb device and falsely imprisoning the taxi driver.

Further charges he pleaded guilty to were belonging to or “professing to belong” to Oglaigh na hEireann and two further charges of attempted hijacking in the two days before the attack.

At Belfast Crown Court, Judge Tom Burgess adjourned passing sentence until pre-sentence probation reports have been compiled and also until the case against O’Donnell’s co-accused is completed.

Martin McLoone, 23, from Abercorn Road in Derry, is in custody awaiting trial as he maintains his not guilty pleas to the charges.

    @Emperor,

He’s wasting our time since all evidence suggests the threat is massively overblown. Hopefully he won’t get reelected, than once he’s out of office, we’ll see the end of this, unless someone else tries to start the whole thing up again.

  • Believing Atheist

I think Peter King needs to read this article today by Glenn Greenwald, which states:

“Yet here we have numerous American political figures receiving substantial fees from a group which is legally designated under American law as a Terrorist organization. Beyond that, they are meeting with the Terrorist leaders of that group repeatedly (Howard Dean told NPR last year about the group’s leader, Maryam Rajavi: “I have actually had dinner with Mrs. Rajavi on numerous occasions. I do not find her very terrorist-like” and has even insisted that she should be recognized as Iran’s President, while Rudy Giuliani publicly told her at a Paris conference in December: “These are the most important yearnings of the human soul that you support, and for your organization to be described as a terrorist organization is just simply a disgrace”). And, after receiving fees from the Terrorist group and meeting with its Terror leaders, these American political figures are going forth and disseminating pro-MEK messages on its behalf and working to have it removed from the Terrorist list.

Given all the prosecutions of politically powerless Muslims for far fewer connections to Terrorist groups than the actions of these powerful (paid) political figures, what conceivable argument is there for not prosecuting Dean, Giuliani, and the rest of them for providing “material support for Terrorism”? What they are providing to MEK is the definitive “material support.” Although these activities (along with those of the above-listed prosecuted Muslims) should be protected free speech, the U.S. Government has repeatedly imprisoned people for it. Indeed, as Georgetown Law Professor David Cole noted, these activities on behalf of MEK are clearly prosecutable as “material support for Terrorism” under the standard advocated by the Bush and Obama DOJs and accepted by the Supreme Court in the Holder v. Humanitarian Law case of 2009, which held that even peaceful advocacy on behalf of a Terrorist group can be prosecuted if done in coordination with the group (ironically, many of these paid MEK supporters have long been advocates of broad application of “material support” statutes (when applied to Muslims, that is) and have even praised the Humanitarian Law case). If we had anything even remotely approaching equal application of the law, Dean, Giuliani, Townsend and the others would be facing prosecution as Terrorist-helpers.”

Why doesn’t Peter King hold hearings on the MEK?
