Shaul Spitzer, Hasidic Man Admits Burning Neighbor In New York Religious Dispute
NEW CITY, NY, Feb 7 (Reuters) – A Hasidic Jewish man from New York state pleaded guilty to assault on Tuesday for setting a neighbor on fire because he wasn’t praying with the rest of the community, leaving the man badly burned.
Shaul Spitzer, 18, of New Square, New York, admitted to lighting Aron Rottenberg ablaze after learning that he had disobeyed a prayer order by the Grand Rebbe of the Hasidic enclave about 35 miles north of New York City.
He pleaded guilty to assault in a New York court and faces up to 10 years in prison, although Judge William Kelly said he would likely receive a 5-year sentence.
Spitzer, who worked for Grand Rebbe David Twersky, admitted in court that he used a heavy duty propane lighter to set Rottenberg on fire in May 2011.
He lit him on fire when Rottenberg confronted him after Spitzer had stuffed gasoline-soaked shirts into a bag, lit it on fire and threw it onto the porch of Rottenberg’s home, he admitted. The family was sleeping inside, court documents said.
Prosecutor Stephen Moore said Rottenberg spent more than a month in the hospital for severe burns.
Under the plea deal, charges of attempted murder and arson were dismissed. Spitzer could have faced a 25-year prison sentence for those charges. Outside court, Spitzer’s attorney Kenneth Gribetz said his client had been trying to cause mischief, not to kill anyone.
“This is a young boy who has no criminal intent,” he said. “He’s not a criminal … He should be given a chance to get back on the right track.”
Spitzer, who will be sentenced in April, entered his plea on the day jury selection was set to begin in the case. Rottenberg was in court and told the judge he consented to the plea deal.
Court documents said Rottenberg’s family had received several threats and had their property vandalized for not praying in the community’s main synagogue.
Rottenburg has a pending civil lawsuit against Spitzer and Twersky stemming from the incident. Gribetz said in court a settlement in the $2 million range was under discussion. (Editing By Ellen Wulfhorst and Cynthia Johnston

Most U.S. citizens know little about Arabic culture and this unfamiliarity is potentially serious, since Arabic cultures are dramatically different from ours.
We must learn more, as Middle-Eastern matters increasingly find their way into U.S. internationalism. We appreciate the positive characteristics of Arabic society, but we must also be aware of negative aspects that expose Americans to unfamiliar principles.
Following are factual experiences involving Arabic-American relations, not meant to degrade, but to illustrate the different attitudes in Arab society compared to ours.
An Arab couple murdered three daughters only because the girls showed interest in Western cultures. Their stepmother also was murdered for permitting their behavior.
A practicing Arab neurosurgeon is being sued for astounding medical incompetence and horrendously botched surgeries, causing serious infections and permanent disabilities.
Through a dental plan I went to a local Middle-Eastern dentist. He said I needed extensive work at a cost of about $5,000. My wife went to the same dentist. Strangely, he told her the same thing. A referred American dentist said the diagnosis and treatment was a complete fraud. An examination and cleaning cost $85 each.
An Egyptian client fought in the Six-Day War of 1967. When the firing began, the officers ran, several hiding in trees. The soldiers threatened to shoot the officers, if they didn’t climb down and lead them.
An Arab heating contractor fraudulently manipulated his test meter, showing that I needed a new $5,600 heater. I called an American technician for his diagnosis. It cost $79, and the heater runs perfectly.
These occurrences, though uncommon, still necessitate understanding foreign cultures as compared to ours.

According to an official who attended a similar Shoebat lecture at a conference in Las Vegas, the solution he offered for the threat of “militant Muslims” was to “Kill them…including the children.”
Sounds little bit like what they said 1930′s about another group right Texas Holocaust Library?

And its a group that wants people to remember the Holocaust so it will never happen again, yet Shobat would love a Muslim Holocaust and they want him to speak there. I hope they just don’t know any better. I’m going to email them myself, and let them know.

It is very difficult for me to belive that a bigot would use, or inquire about goods and services from people he is afraid of. Just the fact that he would first go to an Arab…then get a second opinion every time, and it be better is kind of odd to me.
I doubt very seriously the story is true.

I hope Loon Watch publishes the shameful news that you found. I just emailed the Texas Holocaust Library, and told them about Shoebat. I also recommend that everyone else who frequents this website email them and send them a copy of that add they made, so they will know how you feel about it. Also make sure you include a few articles from multiple websites about what an anti Muslim bigot and a fraud he is.
