Andrew Breitbart Leaves a Legacy of Racism, Islamophobia and Hate

Andrew Breitbart has died of natural causes according to his website. His image will now most likely be rehabilitated in the mainstream and his contributions to the blog world will likely be highlighted above and beyond his racist and Islamophobic antics.

Many may think it is “tacky,” “tasteless” or even “wrong” for  us to say anything negative about Breitbart on the day of his passing. I don’t agree. While it is sad when anyone passes, and our condolences go out to his family, he was a public figure who did much to divide this nation. Commenting on how people such as Breitbart spent their lives is both appropriate and relevant at the time of their deaths.

He was a pivotal figure in transitioning the Right into the contemporary world of new media, which in itself is not a bad thing, but it is how he used his new media platform that was extremely problematic. He played a part in disseminating hate propaganda, undermining the truth and deflecting justice. Who can forget the fiasco with Shirley Sherrod?

On July 19, 2010, Breitbart posted two short videos showing excerpts of a speech by Shirley Sherrod at an NAACP fundraising dinner in March 2010. The videos ensuing controversy resulted in Sherrod being fired from the United States Department of Agriculture on July 19. After Breitbart was criticized for taking Sherrod’s words out of context, he posted the complete 40-minute video of the speech. The NAACP stated that the video excerpts aired by Breitbart were deliberately deceptive and said that he had “snookered” the group.[42][43] Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack later apologized to Sherrod and offered her a new job.[44] In 2011, Sherrod brought suit against Breitbart for defamation.

Or his targeting of ACORN?

Breitbart was also involved in the 2009 ACORN video controversy. Hannah Giles[46][47] posed as a prostitute seeking assistance while James O’Keefe portrayed her boyfriend, and clandestinely videotaped meetings with ACORN staff.[48] Subsequent criminal investigations by the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office and the California Attorney General found the videos were heavily edited in an attempt to make ACORN’s responses “appear more sinister”,[49][50][51] and contributed to the group’s demise.[52][53] Breitbart then provided a forum for O’Keefe on his BigGovernment.com website[54] and defended his actions on Sean Hannity’s Fox News Channel program.[55]

(For more on Breitbart’s aiding of racism, Islamophobia, etc. see Max Blumenthal’s piece, Feeling the Hate at CPAC 2010 with Andrew Breitbart, Hannah Giles and the Crazy Mob .)

His “Big” blogs are quite popular forums for anti-Islam and anti-Muslim screeds. His website “Big Peace” for instance boasts about featuring seminal loon and “Islamization” fear-mongerer Frank Gaffney. His websites also link to Atlas Shrugs and reproduce many of the Islamophobesphere’s articles, videos, etc.

Here is just a sample of how the looniverse is taking his passing:

Pamela Geller thinks of Breitbart as her “fearless leader”:

Andrew was our warrior, our leader. Fearless, unapologetic, brilliant. I admire few, but Andrew was in a league of his own. His herculean contribution to the war is incalculable.

Robert Spencer:

The forces of truth have lost a great and courageous warrior. Unlike most on the Right, he was not a cringing dhimmi eagerly throwing his comrades under the bus in a futile attempt to appease the Left. I hope that his lasting legacy will be legions of freedom fighters confronting Leftists and Islamic supremacists on their hypocrisy, lies and justifications for evil with just as much fearlessness, verve and good humor as he always displayed.

I wish I could say RIP Breitbart, but the above eulogies from the loons make it clear that Breitbart’s abiding legacy is his contribution towards amplifying the most radical voices amongst the Right. I am more inclined to repeating the words of Johnny Cash,

Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin’ in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What’s done in the dark will be brought to the light

Neither breibart, spencer or geller deffend or have ever deffended anything even close to “racist”. since islam is not a race, criticising its evil, hate-filled principles cannot ever be cathegorised as “racist”. On the onther hand, justifying, abeting to REAL racism towards wimen and non-muslims, is truly racist which is what this pathetic site tries to do, even using censorship islamic-stalinian styled. we live in a sickeing world where false leftlists, false humansits, are accomplices to real racism8islam), real hatred (islam)that is has killed hundreds of millions and keeps killing every day dozens and thousands of defenceless muslims and non-muslims, carried out by jihadist RACIST doctrine and praxis- the epythome of islam, pure islam, pure evil, pure filth!

@”TheTruth”: “Sorry, I don’t lump all of a religion, with numerous denominations and religious traditions, under a single monolith.” And I certainly wasn’t implying that anyone should. As is the case with Islam, there may be as many types of Christianity in the world as there are Christians in it.

“I’m told on this website that doing so makes one an insert-ophobe.” You make a valid point. The standards for what constitutes “phobic” treatment of one group should be applied equally to others.

  • “Many think it ‘tacky,’ ‘tasteless’ or even ‘wrong’ for us to say anything negative about Breitbart on the day of his passing. I don’t agree.” Garibaldi wrote. And then, “Commenting on how people such as Breitbart spent their lives is both appropriate and relevant.”

I agree with Garibaldi. Compassion and Kindness does not mean that we tolerate the intolerant or ignore or accept or look the other way when we see hate.

And what a stroke of genious for Garibaldi to end this post with the words of Johnny Cash, “What’s done in the dark will be brought to the light.”

  • TheTruth

Sorry, I don’t lump all of a religion, with numerous denominations and religious traditions, under a single monolith.

I’m told on this website that doing so makes one an insert-ophobe.

  • Franczeska

@”Scafmars”: You yourself engage in Ad-Hominem in your post e.g. “extra-chromosome Left”, “libtards”, “loony Left” etc; and generalisations e.g. “Your kind always do.” Just as you accuse others of doing when it comes to the late Andrew Breitbart.

@”TheTruth”: “So declares a random poster.” As opposed to a non-random one? “It must be true!” No, only posts by non-random people who post under names that have the word “truth” in them can be true.

  • TheTruth

Not Christianity, though. One of the basic tenets of it is that salvation happens only through Jesus Christ, and “Good deeds” don’t matter. In theory, Hitler could’ve affirmed his belief in Jesus Christ just before he died and now he’s enjoying the perks of Heaven.

I can’t wrap my head around that, and it’s one of the reasons I lean agnostic.

    So declares a random poster.

    It must be true!

  • TheTruth

(For more on Breitbart’s aiding of racism, Islamophobia, etc. see Max Blumenthal’s piece

Well, actually, it isn’t more because you didn’t demonstrate any racism in your article to begin with.

The Max Blumenthal article is thin gruel as well. Breitbart’s crime? That he supposedly only recognizes racism against whites.

Of course the same couldn’t be said for any Far-Left rag.

  • Scafmars

Breitbart simply did what the rest of the mainstream news media refuses to do; tell the truth about leftist sacred cows. THAT is what is defined by the loony Left as being a racist and hatemonger.

Breitbart got under the skin of the extra-chromosome Left, so naturally we’re going to see hate-filled posts here about the man’s death. I just find it hilariously ironic that the same libtards who called him a hatemonger are jumping up and down for joy at his early death.

@ Garibaldi; you’re right. It IS “tacky,” “tasteless” and “wrong” for you to say anything negative about Breitbart on the day of his passing. But I’m sure that a loony leftist like you thinks you’re above that kind of judgement. Your kind always do.

  • Michael

Yes think of what more crap he would have churned out if only he had lived longer….

    Yumhil wa la yuhmil…

  • Rajesh

Never heard of him, don’t particularly care. Based on what I’ve read here, I don’t see how one less hatemonger is a bad thing.

  • Dehnus

I know, nothing but good about the dead, and even his victims send their condolences. ANd I know the Republicans are already angry at one of them for saying :”We did not always agree..” in their condolences…

But, why should I be nice to this man? This man called other people :”special piles of excrement”, when they died. According to the AP: “…After Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts died in 2009, Breitbart tweeted, “Rest in Chappaquiddick” and called him “a special pile of human excrement.” When critics questioned his tone, he tweeted they “missed my best ones!””.

So really, I know I should and I should say it to his family, but it is hard to for a person who did not have that honour and dignity himself when it was needed.

  • Garibaldi

I want to add that this is NOT a celebration of his death. It is strange and tragic that he died so young, only 43 years old.

  • the right is never right

I have never been one to wish bad on anyone but I do believe when you do bad
you get bad.Andrew was a hater nothing more,he is the new face of the lunatic right.
William Buckley,Barry Goldwater,Jacob Javits must be rolling in their graves
because it is not the GOP that they were about.

    @Dirkpitt
Breitbart was a hatemonger and liar (the “highlight” of his “career” was happening to get a few nude pics that Anthony Weiner happened to be sending out online) Breitbart didn’t hold anyone “accountable” for anything and it is Breitbart who will be held accountable for all the vile hatemongering and bigotry he spewed particularly against different minorities.

    @IslamoRealist

Allah SWT is the judge of mankind and we Muslims believe Allah will judge everyone according to what they did. As for your claim that Islam allegedly claism the kuffar are “evil vermin”, that is not true and also the kuffar of the Pagan Quraysh that oppressed the Muslims in Arabia during the advent of Islam are not even the People of the Book, Ahl al-Kitab in Arabic, Christians and Jews. Islam teaches that mankind is equal, there is even a famous saying of the Prophet Muhammad SAW’s cousin and son-in-law Ali ibn Abi Talib RA were Ali RA says “someone is either your brother in religion (i.e. a Muslim) or he is your equal in humanity (i.e. a fellow human being)” teaching human equality and co-existence/tolerance.

  • Ahmed

As for Muslims, lets not say anything, let Allah decide. However I will pray that Allah have mercy on his soul.

“Also Muslims are not guaranteed Paradise just because they claim to be Muslims. They have to correct their beliefs and perform good deeds to be able to attain the true felicity. Thus, a person who does not earn good deeds and embellish his (or her) belief with good actions, will be deprived of Allah’s reward

    Much like many other religions”

  • Believing Atheist

I got another tip for LW. I will put it here for lack of a better place.

I just read something extremely shocking today (March 1, 2011) about the injustices committed against Muslims in India:

“The 2002 communal riots not only drove Muslims into new ghettos all over the state, they also reduced them to the status of second-class citizens who do not seem to exist for the government. This is the finding of a city-based NGO, Janvikas, which conducted a survey on the status of the minority community in the state after the riots.

The survey has revealed that Muslims are the new outcastes who, more often than not, are denied basic facilities which are available to people of other communities. Not only that. It appears that this neglect of the community is officially sanctioned for the riot victims find no mention in government records as people who need help.

The neglect of the minority community is evident even in efforts to resettle them as little has been done to provide them access to government schemes, health facilities and loans.

About 16,000 Muslims displaced by the riots are still living in relief colonies that are denied even the most basic amenities.

The riots displaced more than 2 lakh people across the state.
These people remained displaced for almost two years after 2002.

However, NGOs and Muslim relief organisations settled a total of 16087 people in 83 different relief colonies.“These are the people who cannot or dare not return to their original place of residence and have been living in shelters for the last 10 years,” said Vijay Parmar, CEO of Janvikas.

The 83 relief colonies that were built after the riots are almost all located in Muslim majority areas. Fifteen of them are situated in Ahmedabad and the support they receive from the state government is negligible.
“The government did next to nothing for creating awareness about social security schemes meant for Internally Displaced People (IDP),” said Khatunben, a resident of Citizen Nagar, a relief colony in Ahmedabad.
The houses in which the displaced people have been living since 2002 have not been formally transferred to their names.
There has also been a sharp decline in the earnings of almost every displaced individual. The survey has revealed that the average annual income of displaced Muslims in Ahmedabad has come down by 31% as compared to their income before the riots.”

San Jose, CA (2/27/12) – The San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA), the Hindu American Foundation (HAF) and the South Asian Bar Association of Northern California (SABA-NC) today offered a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individuals who attacked a Hindu American man on November 21, 2011 at approximately 9:00 pm in the parking lot of a Lucky’s grocery store located at 3270 South White Road in San Jose, California.
The victim, Atul Lall, was backing out of a parking space when three men surrounded his car, opened his door and began to beat him and hit him with a tequila bottle. The perpetrators called him a terrorist, spit on him and doused him with alcohol. Lall lost several teeth in the attack, was briefly hospitalized, and has had a number of jaw surgeries. Earlier this month, San Jose Councilmember Rose Hererra offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

The San Jose Police Department is continuing to investigate the attack as a hate crime. Chief Chris Moore asked for the public’s help to identify suspects. Detectives have described one of the suspects as 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9, with a medium build at about 200 pounds, wearing eyeglasses, with some facial hair under his chin and short dark hair.

“We offer our condolences and support to all victims of hate crimes,” said CAIR-SFBA Executive Director Zahra Billoo. “We will offer a joint reward of $2000 with HAF and SABA-NC to anybody who comes forward with information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrators.”

Shaamini Babu, Co-President of SABA-NC, commented “We have been working closely with Mr. Lall and echo his concerns about the need to find and convict the attackers not only for the purpose of punishing them for this crime but also to ensure that those three men do not similarly victimize other innocent community members.”

“These types of attacks must be condemned by all Americans,” added Samir Kalra, Esq., HAF’s Director and Senior Fellow for Human Rights. “We must send a strong message that such hatred and bigotry will not be tolerated in our society.”

“An attack against one of us is an attack against all of us,” stated Councilmember Rose Herrera. “I am extremely thankful to CAIR-SFBA, HAF and SABA-NC for joining forces with me to offer a growing reward fund – now at $3,000!”

Usually don’t feed the trolls but just to give correct information for anyone not making a bigot troll comment as person above and interested in islam

Islam teaches that from the beginning of humankind’s presence on the face of the earth, God had been sending His guidance to humanity through His chosen prophets. The first prophet was the first man, Adam, and thereafter, generation after generation, thousands of prophets came to the peoples who inhabited different lands in different periods of history. These prophets include Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad

All these prophets of God taught basically the same religion—namely Islam, or a life of complete obedience to the One and Only God though Islam, which Muslims usually mean as the final form of the religion of God as taught by the Last Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him). Islam is considered as the last of the three monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

Judaism is based on the teachings and the laws of Prophet Moses, while Christianity, in its original form, was based on the teachings of Prophet Jesus. All the three religions have their roots in the teachings of Abraham.

According to Islam, in the course of centuries, the teachings of Moses and Jesus became corrupted or misinterpreted, and the true religion had to be restored by another prophet from God. Thus it was that Muhammad was sent to fulfill and perfect the divine guidance. Islam teaches that while the books revealed to other prophets are not available now in their original form, the Qur’an alone remains in its pristine purity. This was because God had promised that He would protect it from corruption,
Thus, we can say that Islam, as taught by Muhammad, is a continuation and culmination of the religion of God taught by all the prophets of God. Originally, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam were the same religion. As time passed, the earlier religions were obscured or distorted, and hence the differences that we see among them today.

The major distinction of Islam—according to Muslims—is that it is the perfected form of the other two religions and that it is meant for the whole of humanity.
Thus, those who persistently refuse to listen to the call of the Last Prophet are in the wrong. But only Allah knows what judgment is waiting for them.
Also Muslims are not guaranteed Paradise just because they claim to be Muslims. They have to correct their beliefs and perform good deeds to be able to attain the true felicity. Thus, a person who does not earn good deeds and embellish his (or her) belief with good actions, will be deprived of Allah’s reward

    Much like many other religions

Breaking News…Saudi officials discuss buying or erecting a World Trade Center-like building wirh the exact blueprint and having a remote conteolled jetliner crash into it…1500 u.s. architects have concluded a steel structure like the wtc cannot collapse onto itsel after being struck by a jet…I hope this story is true and the religion of Islam can get this stain off its back…..thanx

  • @IslamoRealist

Why don’t you have a problem with the bigotry preached by people like Andrew Brietbart? Listen to the things he has said of over the years. Listen to the sweeping generalizations he has made. He’s done far more than over blow a few stories. Come back here when you are able to debunk just about everything here on Loon Watch and Spencer Watch using only objective sources, such reputable polling organizations, FBI crime statistics, demographic statistics direct from European government organizations, respected historians, anthropologists, and Islamic studies professors. Oh and one more thing, about academics, you will have to prove to us that they really do have the right credentials. No mathematicians that have studies Islam outside of academia will be accepted.

Andrew wa a anti-islamite…..had david duke died jews would celebrate….allow us to do the same….thanx

  • IslamoRealist

How can anyone know what the Koran is yet say that a man is hateful and racist for overblowing a few stories?

The Koran teaches that “Kaafirs” (unbelievers) are absolutely inferior to Muslims, that all of them will burn in hell in agony forever, and that they’re all basically evil vermin. Why doesn’t Loonwatch have a problem with that?
