CBN’s Erick Stakelbeck Mixes ‘Terrorism Analysis’ with Biblical Prophecy

Erick Stakelbeck’s Biblical worldview muddies his so-called “terrorism-analysis.”

CBN’s Erick Stakelbeck Mixes ‘Terrorism Analysis’ with Biblical Prophecy

Submitted by Brian Tashman on Mon, 03/12/2012 – 5:15pm (RightWingWatch)

It has been almost-comical to see how the Christian Broadcasting Network’s Erick Stakelbeck went from working as a sports reporter to a “terrorism analyst” heralded by Religious Right and anti-Muslim groups, which never seem to question his complete lack of credentials and expertise. But Stakelbeck knows how to please a crowd with his vehement diatribes against Muslims and progressives, warning that they are both have a “shared hatred for this country.”

Stakelbeck’s “expert analysis” even includes biblical prophecy, as he recently told Marcus and Joni Lamb on Celebration that he knows the Syrian civil war will end with the destruction of Damascus because the Bible tells him so in Isaiah 17:1. “I believe right now we are seeing the seeds laid for the eventual destruction of Damascus,” Stakelbeck says. “The Bible says it’s going to happen, and it’s going to happen.”

Stakelbeck went on to claim that Islamic terrorists had infiltrated cities all over the United States, including Dearborn, Michigan, which he referred to as a “radical Islamic enclave” and “Dearbornistan.” This may come as a surprise to Dearborn’s Catholic mayor, John O’Reilly, Jr., who called claims that Dearborn is beheld to Sharia law “absurd” and notes that only a minority of Dearborn’s population are Muslims, who have been in Dearborn for ninety years. Earlier this year, a 63 year old man was caught traveling with explosives with the intention of blowing up a mosque in Dearborn.

He later said that while he was in Israel God spoke to him and told him to defend Israel, saying, “I know why I’m here on this earth.”

    Erick Stakelbeck @staks33, in case you’ve forgotten – the oldest ENEMY of the torah, tanak and injil is judaism and christianity. you don’t need islam to destroy the usa. the knowledgeable jews and christians are doing it themselves from within.

    Why is everyone hating on my hometown? I’m realy getting tired of it…

    @Black Infidel

    Yes, a fake ex Muslim would be someone who was never a Muslim in the first place.

  • Black Infidel

    A fake ex-Muslim was never a Muslim in the first place correct?

  • Abdul-Rahman

    And also before a [snipped] like Stakelbeck then tries to claim the Bible is an accurate “history book” he should read this article (among others) http://www.theskepticalreview.com/tsrmag/982front.html “Archaeology and Biblical Accuracy” by Farrell Till showing the errors and mythical nature of the Old Testament text that some inerrantists try to claim as supposed accurate “history”!

  • Abdul-Rahman

    As usual what the Christians know as the Old Testament is set in a specific historical setting and specific historical context in the distant past (this is something all historians and real scholars who analyze the Bible recognize).

    Correcting some of my verbal and spelling typos from my post above.

    As usual what the Christians know as the Old Testament is set in a specific historical setting and specific historical context in the distant past (this is something all historians and real scholars who analysis the Bible recognize).

    There are clear open statements of today’s “state of Israel” government (aka today’s Zionist entity) openly coming out and cheering for the fall of Assad as they view a possible fall of the current government in Syria as a blow to the Iran and Hezbollah axis in the region (i.e. Iran transports support and supplies across what many scholars term the “Shi’a crescent” stretching from Tehran through Iraq then through Assad led Syria and into Lebanon where Iran obviousy backs the Shi’a movement Hezbollah). So much for Stakelbeck’s “predictions”!

    This [snipped] Erick Stakelbeck is such a hatemongering, lying fool and a Crusading imperialist (masquerading as a supposed “terrorism analyst”). As for his ridiculous claims on Isaiah Chapter 17, let me quote from a book I own “The Jewish Study Bible” by Oxford University Press http://www.amazon.com/Jewish-Study-Bible-Publication-Translation/dp/0195297512

    “Isaiah 17:1-14: An oracle concerning Damascus and the Northern Kingdom. This ch. addresses the Syro-Ephraimite crisis, which took place in 735 BCE. This crisis is described in 7.1-8.23, and the background provided concerning those chs above should be consulted when reading this ch as well. This ch concerns not only Damascus (capital of Syria or Aram) but also their allies, the northern Israelites or Ephraimites, and the Assyrian empire against whom the Arameans (or Syrians) and Ephraimites revolted.”

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syro-Ephraimite_War (736 BCE- 732 BCE)

    As usual what is Christians know as the Old Testament is set in a specific historical setting and specific historical context in the distant past (this is something all historians and real scholars who analysis the Bible recognize). Also since Isaiah Ch. 17 has the people of Aram (today’s Syria with the ancient capital city of Damascus), under then King Rezin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rezin, allied with the northern kingdom aka the Kingdom of Israel under King Pekah of that time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pekah) is Stakelbeck’s ridiculous “futurist” so-called “prophecy” nonsense also saying Israel is allied with Syria and Bashar al-Assad? There are clear open statements of today’s “state of Israel” government openly coming out and cheering for the fall of Assad as they few that as a blow to the Iran and Hezbollah axis in the region. So much for Stakelbeck’s “predictions”!

  • Aspie and Atheist

    I have three simple statements to make:

    1) Islam is not a violent or oppressive religion.

    2) Not all Muslims are terrorists, and not all terrorists are Muslims.

    3) Just because the Bible says something, it doesn’t mean it’s true.

    Sorry, I’d like to make a correction to my above post, I actually found it on ‘Acts 17′ which also (confusingly) goes by the name Answering Muslims;

    http://www.answeringmuslims.com/2011/02/dearborn-terror-case-update-sunni.html

    Anyway Géji, yes as far as I am aware ‘Answering Muslims’ is in fact a Christian Apologetics website run by a ‘convert to Christianity’ from Islam. I forget the name of the guy behind it but I do know that he is quite a rude man and often misquotes his opponents. If his position were solid then I feel he wouldn’t need to stoop to those levels… I think that we Muslims give these fools far to much ammunition though.

  • Géji

    @Jack Cope Says to Susanna: “he only place I’ve been able to find your facts is ‘Answering Muslims’ which you cut and paste word for word.”

    (lol), for sure she does that a lot, without providing the source of her “facts”, nor putting the Quotation marks needed to make clear that the “opinions” she stating, are from others. But tell me, I know the -”Answering Muslims” – Website, is a anti-Muslims/anti-Islam, hate-Site, but when I visited-(very briefly), apart from few books on the side for publicity of “Jesus”, I couldn’t tell if the writers of said hate-Site were actually radical Christians, or not.

  • http://thepenofawanderingstranger.com/personal/ Jack Cope

    Susanna;

    Once again please provide facts to back up your statements. I know that at one point Stockham was claiming to be a ‘Muslim’ for reasons unknown (I think he is a bit unbalanced) but fluent in Arabic and quoting the Quran? Seriously? The only place I’ve been able to find your facts is ‘Answering Muslims’ which you cut and paste word for word.

    You quote part of their article on the topic word for word which I find is sadly quite usual for you; you seem to fail to be able to put your own thoughts into words which is a shame. If you have views then have the belief in said views to back them up with your own words.

    And please when you quote another article use quotation marks and provide the source otherwise it is plagiarism. I don’t like it when people quote my works without attributing (though of course I do see it as a form of praise when they find my work good enough to pass off as their own!). Thanks

    @Emperor

    I kind of hope they keep doing this. It will actually make it harder for rational reasonable people to take their other claims seriously. Doesn’t that fake ex Muslim, fake ex terrorist clown, Walid Shoebat also claim that there is some kind of biblical prophecy relating to Muslims? I think he claims that a Muslim is going to be the antichrist or something.

  • Susanna

    Brian: Please make sure you have all your facts right. This incident took place yearly last year (2011) as per below:

    Roger Stockham is a convert to Islam. But he’s a Sunni Muslim, and he wanted to toss some M-80s at the largest mosque in America, because he hates Shia Muslims. Stockham was given a court-appointed attorney (Mark Haidar), whom he rejected for supposedly being a Shia. Stockham speaks fluent Arabic and quotes the Qur’an during interviews.
