Thousands Mobilise Against Planned anti-Islam Denmark Demo

Most people see beyond the hysterics and recognize Islamophobia for what it is, cover for racism and war:

Thousands mobilise against planned anti-Islam Denmark demo

Several thousand people turned out for an open-air concert in Denmark’s second city of Aarhus on Wednesday to protest against a far-right anti-Islam rally planned for March 31, officials said.

Aarhus city officials said they organised the concert as a way of showing the city’s tolerance and because “Aarhus does not want to be associated with extremist groups” that represent “everything we want to distance ourselves from.” Around 5,000 people attended Wednesday’s concert, a spokesman for the mayor’s office said.

Far-right groups from across Europe are scheduled to meet in Aarhus on March 31 for an anti-Islam rally organised by the Danish Defence League, a sister organisation of the English Defence League.

A spokesman for the Danish group, Philip Traulsen, said the programme for the meeting had not been confirmed but that it would deal with “the obvious problems caused by radical Islam.” In an email to AFP, he said some 300 to 1,000 people were expected to attend the rally, which he said would “probably be the biggest anti-Islam demonstration on Danish soil.”

A counter-demonstration organised by the group “Aarhus for Diversity” was to be held at the same time in the town of 315,000 people, located on the Jutland peninsula north of Germany.

Local police, who have requested reinforcements, “will be present en masse”, eastern Jutland police official Mogens Broendum said. But shopowners have expressed concern and a number of restaurants have already indicated they plan to close on the day of the rally, he said.

Unfortunately, Denmark is one of the most racist countries in the world.

It’s so Islamophobic that on of the biggest political parties, Danish People’s Party, is filled with racists. Politicians from this party actually openly said in the media, that muslim’s rape their daugthers, and their stated goal is to rid Denmark from “non-integrated immigrants and others, who cannot assimilate into the Danish culture and way of life”.

Approx. 1/10 of all danes support this party. Another party with similiar ideas is Venstre, but they’ve moved towards the middle to win more voters, but they still work together with DPP on matters concerning culture and integration. If their voters are added together, 4/10 of danes support these parties and their ideas.

To top it off, immigrants seeking citizenship in Denmark are given “points”. If they do not achieve a certain amount of points, the poor souls are thrown out, and back to their countries. Last year, about 100 immigrants from Pakistan, Iraq and Iran where thrown out of the country. Days later, reports were saying that a dozen of them had been killed.

When I was a youngster I was told by religious people that the world would soon be run by a theocracy. Like all religious people when they talk about God, they lied. Every single religious person I ever heard tells ENORMOUS lies about God. I am glad they lied about the coming theocracy. The idea of a theocracy is as frightening to me as a world run by totalitarians. I don’t need a ‘glorious leader’ who is a shining example of the ’cause’ who tells me what to think, how to act, what to wear. Only children need that. Or collectivists. Mao’s “Little Red Schoolbook”, Marx’s “Communist manifesto”, the Bible, the Quran, the list of collectivist horrors goes on and on.

I pay my taxes and the Govt fix the roads and pay the cops and give back welfare if you get stuck for a while. That’s all I need. The ‘leader’ does not need to tell me how to wipe my arse.

Over and out. You will be glad this is my last posting on LW. Good luck with whatever it is you are trying to achieve.

It may also be a cover for limiting religious freedom. There are a lot of Christian Islamophobes who want to outright ban Islam, and they know they won’t be able to do that, unless large numbers of people are terrified of Muslims. Some of them even want to ban all religions other than Christianity, or more likely all religious other than their particular brand of Christianity. It may also exist as a justification for religious intolerance. Ironically so many anti Muslim bigots claim to be opposing theocracy, by opposing Islam, and many may even think they are. However, Most of the biggest Islamophobes are also far right Christians who want to force their religion down our throats. Might it also be a cover for that as well? They can’t claim to be anti theocracy without being hypocrites. Even when its not a cover for anything though, its still just as baseless and irrational as any other type of bigotry.

YAY for those who don’t hate :D

Ha. What’s funny is that the ‘largest anti-Islam rally’ can only muster at most a thousand people (and in reality probably a mere fraction of that) while the anti-racism protestors easily got five times that number. It speaks to the national sanity of the Danish people. I also find it rather amusing that Traulsen claims he is against ‘radical Islam,’ but then goes on to explicitly call it an ‘anti-Islam rally.’ It’s either one or the other, and despite protestations that they aren’t racist and don’t hate Muslims, they seem to refute those claims for me. Morons.
