Bob Simon Lays the Smack Down on Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren

A follow up to our story on the Christians of Palestine. We mentioned that Bob Simon of 60 Minutes was going to do a report on Christians in the Holy Land and I have to say he did a pretty good job.

He covered the plight of Christians in the Holy Land and how there has been a slow exodus over the past few decades due to Israeli occupation policies. He also covered the Kairos initiative and how that is making inroads within Palestinian society.

Most intriguingly, Bob Simon lays the smack down on Israeli Ambassador to the US, Michael Oren at the 11 minute mark. Oren also does some blame shifting, saying that it is Muslims who are persecuting Christians not Israelis:

Veteran CBS News correspondent Bob Simon experienced something while reporting a “60 Minutes” piece last night, that he’d never before. His story was on Christian residents leaving the Holy Land and the causes behind it: Islamic extremism? Israeli occupation? or something more? Simon interviewed clerics from the Orthodox, Catholic and Lutheran faiths, also Palestinian residents of the West Bank, and Israel’s ambassador to the U.S., Dr.Michael Oren. But Oren didn’t like the premise of the story and called Simon’s boss, CBS News chairman and “60 Minutes” EP Jeff Fager long before it story aired.

“Mr. Ambassador, I’ve been doing this a long time and I’ve received lots of reactions from just about everyone I’ve done stories about. But I’ve never gotten a reaction before from a story that hasn’t been broadcast yet,” said Simon. “Well, there’s a first time for everything, Bob,” said the ambassador.

Isn’t Michael Oren the same Zionist clown who wrote some nonsense book claiming that US support for Zionism allegedly isn’t because of AIPAC and other Zionist lobbyists and figures controlling the US government and media but supposedly because the “founding fathers supported the Jews” or some Zionist propaganda nonsense like that.

Aww, glad you like us joos, the feeling is mutual 😀

Hakeem, remember aside from political we have religious commonalities with Jews too.

Gallup Poll: American Muslims Aren’t Anti-Israel And Reject Violence
By Eli Clifton on Aug 2, 2011

Perhaps most interestingly, the poll found that the political and social views expressed by Muslims are often closest to Jewish Americans. Including:

•Eighty-one-percent of Muslim Americans and 78 percent of Jewish Americans support a future in which an independent Palestinian state would coexist alongside of Israel.

While anti-Muslim pundits and politicians will continue to insist the Muslims Americans are easily radicalized against the U.S. and hold animosity toward Israel, the data provided in the Gallup poll suggests that these positions are simply not grounded in reality.

  • MaratSafin

Hakeem nothing surprising there, Jews have traditionally preferred Muslims to anyone else. The fascists among the Jews are few, like Pamela Geller.

It is mutual. I love American Jews.

Bob Simon is a Jew. Our best allies are Jews.

Here is something else interesting. According to 2012 Jewish Value Survey:

“Jewish Americans hold more favorable views of Mormons and Muslims than those belonging to the “Christian Right,” according to a recently published survey on Jewish values.”

Where do you see jew or christian hatred here liar? Zionists are not jews, zionists are ultra nationalists essentially nazis. I Always see right wingers and zionists saying Islam and Muslims must be destroyed your complete nazis and netanyahu wants to be the new hitler but evil never wins tommy. Now goose step back to jihad watch youre boring

  • Tom Solomon

Michael Orens is correct. Given the persecution of Christians in the ME, it is incomprehensible to point the finger at the Jews, unless of course, you are not interested in Christian well being as you are in professing Jew hatred.

  • DrM

What a joke Oren is. Whenever I’ve decimated [snipped] nutters, especially of the Evangelical variety, I bring up the FACT that Bethlehem maintained a healthy Christian majority under centuries of Muslim rule yet in just over 4 decades of brutal israeli occupation it became a Muslim majority city because of the Christians who left. The Zionist scum are bewildered and have no answer. Why did the different squabbling Christian factions give the responsibility of guarding of The Church of the Holy Sepulcher to Muslims?

It’s a bold faced lie to imply that “political Islam” is a factor in this tragedy. The Cross has not been “replaced by the headscarf,” but persecuted out by the Zionists.
Muslims and Christians have live in peace in Palestine, and no amount of Zionist propaganda can rewrite history.

This is probably the first time most westerners knew that there were Palistinian Christians.

Why are Christians leaving hummmm lets see

Palestinian unemployment in the West Bank is 16.5% and 40% in Gaza

In all, there were 528 checkpoints and obstacles in the West Bank, up from 376 in August 2005, Shearer said, presenting new statistics.

Here is also a map of the west bank

This is only the West Bank think about how many total are out there

6,537 Palestinians only counting civilians have been killed since September 29, 2000

1,471 Palestinian children have been killed by Israelis since September 29, 2000.

59,575 Palestinians have been injured since September 29, 2000

5,604 Palestinians are currently imprisoned by Israel.

Israel currently has 236 Jewish-only settlements and ‘outposts’ built on confiscated Palestinian land ad growing daily . Palestinians do not have any settlements on Israeli land.

Since zionists fund and back Anti -Islam here in America friends like that we dont need or want

  • Averroe’s Ghost

@Crow, that seems a bit too exaggerated of a language. Blanketing all who define as ‘Zionists’ may push away stalwart allys away, because even though I disagree withh the ideology doesn’t mean that we can’t see there are good ones amongst them.

Can the Israelis do anything other than shout “Anti-Semitism”?

and he went to the Chairman of CBS news, Seriously?

  • AJ

Bob Simon, that was excellent. Americans need to know what is happening to the Christians in the Holy Land. I know a few Palestinians who have lost the right to return when they started living in the States whereas the Israelis can keep dual nationality and dual residence. I am sure the shop owner Christian lady in the video was afraid to leave because of the same reason – she would not be able to return back. This aspect needs to be covered as well.

Good will, kindness and compassion are something zionists give to no one but demand from everyone. In this day and age zionists are the closest thing to evil that youll ever find

  • If words could kill, Bob Simon would be dead.
I saw that interview on 60 Minutes and the Ambassador from Israel, Michael Oren, gave me the chills. I saw ice on a power trip while looking at him.
I thought good will, kindness and compassion were characteristics of an Ambassador.
