Bees Are the New Terrorists

Posted on 29 June 2012 by Ilisha

Jihadi Bee

“And your Lord inspired to the bee, ‘Take for yourself among the mountains, houses, and among the trees and [in] that which they construct.’” Quran, 16:68

In the years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the persistent, overblown threat of terrorism has justified astronomical military spending, the steady erosion of civil rights at home and abroad, and the invasion and bombing of one country after another.

Putting terrorism into proper perspective often yields some interesting comparisons. In recent articles, Danios suggested we should declare war on peanuts since peanut allergies kill more people than Muslim terrorists, and pointed out that Americans much more likely to be killed by their own furniture than by terrorism.

Similarly, a recent report from the British government concluded people in the UK are as likely to be killed by a stinging insect as they are to be killed by terrorism. In response, Gawker’s irreverant Hamilton Nolan has made a compelling case for a global war on bees, and perhaps their wasp and hornet allies–and of course, all the countries that harbor them.

Bees Are the New Terrorists: We Must Launch a War on Bees

by Hamilton Nolan, Gawker

Though our grandparents are often referred to as “The Greatest Generation,” we, too, will make our mark in history as the generation that endured merciless war without end. First, the War on Drugs; then, the War on Terror; and now—everyone, please load your weapons—the War on Bees.

On the fair shores of England—our constant boon companion, and the “canary in the coal mine” of things that will soon be killing us all—it appears that bees, as well as their wasp and hornet allies, are the new threat for which all must grimly prepare. A new UK government report paints a terrifying picture:

Discussing the suggestions that the threat from terrorism is over-estimated, Mr Anderson wrote: “During the 21st century, terrorism has been an insignificant cause of mortality in the United Kingdom. The annualised average of five deaths caused by terrorism in England and Wales over this period compares with total accidental deaths in 2010 of 17,201, including 123 cyclists killed in traffic accidents, 102 personnel killed in Afghanistan, 29 people drowned in the bathtub and five killed by stings from hornets, wasps and bees.”

I see little choice but to build a tangled and impenetrable multibillion-dollar bureaucracy dedicated to Bee Defense, and to launch a pre-emptive war on…. whichever country is harboring all the bees.

BTW my comments above is not to prove or disprove whether the verse is a miracle. whether or not you believe it is miracle, it is upto you. but it is not OK to distort a language if it doesn’t give you the meaning you like.

Quran indeed is a miracle and will remain a guidance for mankind till eternity and these kinds of attacks is not going to diminish its unique nature. these foolish attacks actually proves the point that its enemy have no sound basis to oppose it.

    @Steve

your link to youtube video is so hilarious. most likely you don’t know arabic and that’s why you posted it. Any person who knows even the abcd of arabic wouldn’t made that video or would even bother to post it. It makes your case so weak. the guy in video somehow seems to suggest that arabic grammer is open to interpretations like saying “according to haroom yahya”. It is not.

any one who knows even basic arabic knows that there are plural of many arabic words which are feminine and it in those cases femine verbs be used with those plural words. but he forgot that the “feminine” form of “amr or command” used in the verse has absolutely nothing to do whether “nahl” as a word is masculine or feminine. the “amr” form of the verb is used in second person. while the feminine form of verbs is used in third person. so irrespective of whether “nahl” is masculine or feminine “noun” ( BTW nahl means both male and female bees) the command form used will determine whether it is for female or male.

just read this link for arabic grammer 101 if you have time

    http://www.arabictree.com/fil-amr-the-imperative/

in the “2nd person command form”, the gender for verb matches gender for whom command is given. if the command is given for both male and female then it will be “2nd person plural”. 2nd person feminine singular form is never used to command both male and female together. NEVER

Here is the literal translation of Surat An-Naĥl verse 68 and 69 (16:68-69 if it helps. my comments in () brackets. I have taken the main text from sahih international and have inserted my comments to make it simple for people like you Steve to understand.

And your Lord inspired (this is in third person)to the bee,(the sentence changes from 3rd person to 2nd person here) “Take (you female, singular) for yourself among the mountains, houses, and among the trees and [in] that which they construct.

Then eat (you singluar female) from all the fruits and follow (you female singular) the ways of your Lord laid down [for you].” (now he form sentence changes from 2nd person to third perosn) There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.

So here your is “expert”. Judge for yourself how wicked this guy is. Doesn’t know a thing about arabic grammar and has gal to criticize others. His other reference further proves how illiterate he is in arabic grammar. shame on him and shame on you for sharing it.

I must admit I am surprised that more muslims dont keep bees as its obviously approved by the Quran :-)
Should anyone be interested in keeping bees in a natural way ( and very economic way ) try this web site
    http://www.biobees.com/how_to_start_beekeeping.php

    Anyway back to Loonville
Lets hope that the bees stay safe from those nasty pestisides and keep making that wonderful honey

Sorry I just couldn’t resist XD

    Are bees the new “Islamophobes”?

Pretty sure more people are stung from bees every year than experience “Islamophobia”; comparing the death statistics from bees and Islamphobia would too cruel to trot out.

  • Géji

Ilisha, good article. But the cuckoo bees of Indonesia are acting up on minorities of the land. Time to do an article on psycho Muslims.

There is a whole Surah entiltled ‘The Bee’ in the Quran. Some interesting facts:-

The worker bees, those who gather pollen and make the honey, are actually all females. The male bees do not make honey. This was only known recently. However 1400 years ago the Quran refers to bees that generate the honey as females (the Arabic grammar is in the female mode):

[Quran 16.68-69] And your Lord (Allah) revealed to the bees: Build your hives in mountains, trees and in what people build. Then eat (for females) from every fruit and follow (for females) your Lord’s enslaved paths, from their bellies (for females) exits drink of different colors, in it healing for man. These are signs for those who contemplate.

For the word “eat”: “Kuli” is for females; “Kul” is for males. The Quran used “Kuli” (females).

For the word “follow a path”: “Usluki” is for females; “Usluk” is for males. The Quran used “Usluki” (females).

For the word “their bellies”: “butuniha” is for females; “butunihim” is for males. The Quran used “butuniha” (females).

How could an illiterate man who lived 1400 years ago have known that those honey making bees are females?

Finally…someone who recognises that His BEE la is tring to enrich honey to create a sticky sweet replacement for sugar…and we must stop them.

We will sanction anyone who sells them flowers or other pollinating plants.

Here in America, We’re probably going to be even more likely to be killed by bees now that the more aggressive Africanized Honey Bees are starting to move into the US.
