Jerusalem: Ultra-Orthodox Attack Elderly Arabs with Belts, Yell “Death to Arabs”

Posted on 09 June 2012 by Emperor

Ironically, these Ultra-Orthodox Jewish protesters attacked the Arabs for the purpose of protecting the sanctity of the Sabbath, but, they seem to forget about the sanctity of the human being and the dignity that should be afforded to them. In this way they are similar to other extremist fundamentalists.

Imagine if these Ultra-Orthodox vigilantes were Muslim, and attacked elderly Jews, while yelling “Death to Jews,” you can be sure the Islamophobic looniverse would be going buck-wild about how Islam is to blame.

What if they were Muslim?:

Jerusalem: Haredim attack elderly Arab

(YNetNews)

A number of ultra-Orthodox attacked an elederly Arab and an Arab family following a violent demonstration in Jerusalem against the desecration of the Sabbath, Ynet reported.

An eyewitness said the attack, which took place Saturday evening near the ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Mea Shearim, was “shocking.”

“The haredim used to just yell ‘Shabbos,’ but the situation is gradually escalating, and now they throw stones at passing cars and set up roadblocks,” said the eyewitness, who lives nearby.

“We call the police, and when a squad car arrives they (haredim) run away. When the squad car leaves, they return. It’s a kind of game.”

Last Saturday, the eyewitness said, several dozen ultra-Orthodox – mostly teens and little children – stayed at the intersection (corner of Nevi’im and Dvora streets) followingthe demonstration “in search of a victim. They surrounded an elderly Arab man, shoved him and threw stuff at him. It could have ended in a lynching.

“I immediately intervened and tried to help him. They shoved me, threw garbage at me and called me a ‘stinking leftist,’” he recounted.

Later, the eyewitness said, the haredim attacked an Arab woman and her two children with belts while yelling “death to Arabs.” Border Guard officers who were dispatched to the scene dispersed the crowd.

“It was frightening, sad and disgraceful,” the eyewitness said.

    No need to apologize, this site has proven that wacko’s and loons are going to exist either way the only thing we can do is not treat the entire community with fear and suspicion and denouce the shameless scapegoating of the people who use these seperate incidents as patsies for their own political agenda.

    “No apology necessary, Mindy”

    Yeah, I’ve never been a fan of apologizing for what extremists, idiots and criminals do just because they share superficial aspects of one’s faith. Mindy is very clearly a very nice person, and she doesn’t need to apologize for these extremists any more than I believe I need to apologize for pedophile priests or Muslims for Al-Qaeda.

  • Haddock

    No apology necessary, Mindy. Some people just don’t know how to make religion nice.

  • mindy1

    On behalf of peaceful jews I apologize, this kind of hate is wrong :( :(

    The Ultra-Orthodox Jews are usually denoted with piety because of their hardline attitude and attire but ironically; they would be stoned to death under “Halakha” (jewish) law for going out during the Sabbath.

    Like the so-called “Muslim” rapists and the so-called “Christian” molesters , it looks like these guys aren’t too familiar with their own religion.

    this is the consequence of netenyahu sucking up to minority extremist parties. these nutters get the feeling they can get away with what they want, and tbh they usually have.

    @Emperor

    Ultra-Orthodox Jews are not similar to extremist fundamentalists.

    THEY ARE EXTREMIST-FUNDAMENTALISTS.

    And batshit crazy at it too….

    @Steve

    Its not religion that the problem its the people who follow religion much like any system or idea.

    “I came to the conclusion long ago … that all religions were true and also that all had some error in them, and whilst I hold by my own, I should hold others as dear as Hinduism. So we can only pray, if we are Hindus, not that a Christian should become a Hindu … But our innermost prayer should be a Hindu should be a better Hindu, a Muslim a better Muslim, a Christian a better Christian.

    Gandi”

    These Jewish extremists are really annoying ordinary Israelis and Arabs. How can it ever be appropriate to attack someone because they don’t have the same view of the Sabbath?

    There’s extremists like this in every religion who ruin it for everyone else. But while we recognise that the actions of these extremists are not representative of all Jews or Judaism, Islamophobes don’t do the same when Muslims extremists are involved.

  • crow

    These scum are always so brave, picking on old men and women.

    @Emperor

    Apparently a lot of people, including Jews haven’t really learned from the Holocaust. Thinking similar to this is what led to that atrocity. If these people had been any other group, instead of Jews, not just Muslims, but any other group and had attacked Jews like this, there would be no argument that they were antisemitic. These people are clearly racists.

  • Steve

    Ah, religion and its power to unite. Are these the ultra-orthodox who refuse to work and make constant demands?
