What you have failed to mention…and what is being ‘implied’ here is that Islam is not the cause of ‘honour killings’, but common where Muslim people live.

It would be like saying that Christianity is the cause of illegal drug use, the mafia and drug cartels because illegal drug use, the murder and destrcution of society caused by illegal drug use…and so on…because illegal drug use and its consequenses happen in nations here Christians live.

I hope you’re question is sincere and you won’t try to harp on the technicality that is 91% and not 100% and therefore no one is saying honor killing is exclusively muslim. Saying that honor killing is almost an exclusive muslim practice (as Geller, Spencer, et al does) is practically the same thing.

However Steve, what you are failing to understand that…if the offender WAS Muslim, or…more likely an Arab with an ‘Arab sounding name’, it would have been a story in the western news media outlets, and even if the religion of the offender were not known…it would have been implied that he was Muslim.

Lets understand that what you tend to call ‘honour killings’…or ‘passion killings’ in western hemisphere Latin CHRISTIAN nations are cultural and not religious in nature.

Lets understand Steve that this kind of implied inditement of Muslims is possible because of the western discourse about Muslims and Islam…and ultimatly immigration, Arabs, and ‘cultural purity’ that is rooted in the discourse of group of people that are fighting against the dynamic shift…from a European Christian standard of culture to a more global acceptance of people, diverity, and the untiy of humanity not based on uniformity.

Steve…in my opinion, we are witnessing the last gasps of a polorised world…so the physical beheading of the child by her father is of the same barbaric acts as those who use these kinds of stories to take the humanity out of a group of people they fear.

All Islamophobes who want to make Muslims seem more evil. Robert Spencer, for example, describes every new story, including the recent UK case, as an “Islamic honor killing” and claims that this is mandated by Islam. Ilisha wrote a great article destroying this idea that it is ever legal in Islam to take your own child’s life.

These “What if they were Muslim?” articles serve to dispel the myth this is an exclusively Muslim issue and also to think just how excited some anti-Muslim bigots would be if this was a Muslim case so they could publish it on their websites.

He’s not sikh he’s a Hindu Rajput (from the looks of things) from Rajasthan.In conservative India honor killings are a frequent occurrence and are not restricted to members of any specific religion.

Yeah, just about %100 certain he’s a Sikh. Singh is almost exclusively used by Sikhs in India nowadays, and Sikhs are generally pretty conservative people that would get upset if their daughter was sleeping around with strange men.
