Update: Jewish Federation of LA Pulls the Plug on Pamela Geller’s Hatefest

We re-posted Richard Silverstein’s blogpost on the shocking fact that Pamela Geller was scheduled to speak at an event hosted by one of the nation’s largest Jewish federations.

In the ensuing hours the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles has had the good sense to not want to be associated with such a crazed hatemonger as Geller and decided to pull the plug on her speaking engagement.

Geller is fuming and calling on her followers to flood the federation with emails and phone calls. Loonwatchers should congratulate the federation and urge them to be more careful in the future (h/t: CriticalDragon):

Deranged hate group leader Pamela Geller is raging and spewing venom this morning (I know, it’s her usual state) because the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles pulled the plug on her scheduled speech titled “Islamic Jew Hatred as the Root Cause of Failure to Achieve Peace.”

As usual when a Jewish organization refuses to endorse her foul bigotry, she’s accusing them of being “kapos” — Jewish collaborators with the Nazis: JEWISH SURRENDER: LA JEWISH FEDERATION SUBMITS TO HAMAS-LINKED MUSLIM GROUPS, CANCELS GELLER EVENT!!!!! – Atlas Shrugs

If you’re in LA, come to the Jewish Federation at 6505 Wilshire Boulevard at 11AM. We will be protesting this craven capitulation of the Jewish Federation to Islamic supremacist Jew-haters.

In a jaw-dropping act of cowardice and submission, LA Federation is not allowing ZOA (Zionist Organization of America) to hold the event where I was scheduled to speak this morning.

Jewish leadership is on the trains and thinks we will go quietly. This is tragic. Imagine, without so much as firing a shot, they’re caving in to a Hamas front group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Hamas’s fundamental goal is the annihilation of Israel.

This mirrors Nazi Party Representatives attending a 1933 Berlin Jewish Community charity drive gathering — back on December 20, 1933, three thousand Jews attended the first official Jewish gathering in which uniformed Nazis participated. The mass meeting was arranged by the Berlin Jewish community to open the special campaign for winter relief. And we know how that worked out.

Is it any wonder that the American Jewish left has become a problem for Israel? Who are these people? What is their role? What is their mission? What’s the point of Jewish lay leadership if they submit before their executioners? Shame on our cowardly leadership for throwing one of our own under the bus. We expect that from kapos, not from proud Jews who should hold the freedom of speech as a fundamental Jewish value.

Proud Jews and lovers and free speech will be protesting outside the LA Jewish Federation building at 11 am, and another venue will be announced shortly.

Geller has published the phone number of the Jewish Federation and the names of their board members and officials, urging her bigoted followers to harass and pressure them to reverse the decision.

Here’s the contact page for the organization — I’ll be sending them a note of congratulations to let them know they’re doing the right thing. Please join me and call or write a note of support, so they don’t get the false impression that the bigots are in the majority.

I think you two are missing the point. Although NurAlia said he’s only been to the site just now – his point is still pertinent and useful.

That is, who cares what they say in response? That isn’t the point!

The point is to give a show of good-natured mockery and ribbing to the Atlas Shrugs crowd. Deleted comments or not, nothing ruffles the hateful than mocking their hate. They take their hatred to be canon and truth – to see it mocked will really get to them.

Nur’s comparison was spot-on as well – they did the flooding/spam thing themselves here, detracting from the real effort being made by LW.

I agree with BhuddaShrink, and would also like to point out their minions can do the same to us, potentially flooding us with a torrent of vengeance.

I commend you for your compassionate approach but I want to warn against going on any of the Islamophobic websites thinking that they are open to any discussion and believing in anyone’s free speech but their own.

I know of people who have made the attempt. They did so with an open heart and were shocked and hurt by the hatred they IMMEDIATELY recieved in response to their efforts. One was called a slut and promptly banned from the website. These websites tend to be for self-reinforcement for fearful hate groups and no one else.

Lastly going on some of these websites with positive messages as opposed to self reinforcing messages of hate, can result in your computer being hacked into.

I love your examples of people of different religions supporting each other. I suggest growing those conversations and expressing our views in more open forums such as letters to the editor.

I believe that the jewish government is already aware that they are dealing with the religious counterpart of Nazi-German (Muslim Brotherhood/Morsi – Egypt, Hamas and Hezbollah) these days, this opportunity won’t be that great a loss.

I have never actually read Atlas Shruggs until this article.

One of the ‘suggesstions’ was to ‘flood the phones and e-mail’ with protest against the cancellation of the event.

I remember too, the flooding of the EDL site with jokes, and how it took away from the focus of the EDL event by the interactive media, and on to the commondering of the twitter account.

I am wondering how feasible it would be to gather a group of people, to go onto this Atlas Shuggs site and post good messages, messagaes of peace or good jokes, or simply letters supporting unity, diversity, and building bridges.

I wonder if we could post articles of incidences when Jews, Christians, and Muslims come together in support of each other, like the Muslim women helping the Copts in Egypt vote…or Christians standing between soldiers and Muslim men while they pray.

I think that rather than complaining about the hate and bigotry, we can be like a medicine against it. It is kind of like using thier weapon against them. They have been standing on the fact that they are allowed to hate, because they enjoy freedom of expression. So, lets put it to the test, and see of they feel that everyone should have the freedom to express things like peace, unity, maybe a little scripture, or a link to a good sermon from Christians, Jews, and Muslims.

I know it wont stop, or that some of us will be banned…but the constant sending of peaceful messages may simply tire them out, and they give up thier hate…or maybe, something one of us posts, will touch the heart of one of them, and pull them from the dark side.

I think Ms Geller has written her own demise here.

While her constant attacking of Muslims is ‘tolarated’, because it is allowed in the western discourse, hate against Jews is not tolarated. It will further cull her blind followers between those self fullfilling prophecy people who support Jews and Israel, and those blind followers that are simply in it because it is bigotry.

Apparently, Geller found someplace else to have her ‘conference’. Reading the thread where she announced it, someone in the comment mentioned something that struck me when watching a video of another of her hatefests: no young people. I would add that there are almost nothing else but Caucasians.

That gives me hope. America is a diverse country full of young people. Spencer and Geller’s audience is comprised of nothing but a very specific subset of Americans.
