Daily Mail can’t even condemn a racist attack on Muslims without employing anti-migrant rhetoric

The Daily Fail once again:

Daily Mail can’t even condemn a racist attack on Muslims without employing anti-migrant rhetoric

by Bob Pitt (Islamophobia-Watch)

The Daily Mail reports that a drunken couple of Polish origin, Beata Jopek and her partner Maciej Matysniak, racially abused two hijab-wearing Muslim women, Hana Farah and Ithil Ibrahim, on a Leeds-Sheffield train.

It was Matysniak who first approached the two women and told them: ”Shut the f*** up”, why are you so “f****** loud, aren’t you embarrassed about how loud you are? You can’t even speak English.”

Jopek then told the women to “go back to your own country”, screaming “no-one wants you here, you are f****** disgusting”. She shouted at one of them: “Take that f****** thing off, a white person wouldn’t do what you are doing.” She ripped the headscarf from one of the women and when restrained by a guard said: “If I lose the baby I’m going to kill the black b****.”

Jopek narrowly escaped a prison sentence at Sheffield Crown Court after both women said they would prefer that their assailants be made to recognise what they did was wrong rather than go to jail. Jopek was given a three-month sentence suspended for 12 months and 120 hours of unpaid community work. Matysniak was given a 12-month community order with 80 hours of unpaid work.

So what headline did the Mail choose for their report? “White bigots launched racist tirade against Muslims”, perhaps? Of course not. Instead, we get: ”Pregnant Polish migrant told British Muslim women wearing hijabs to ‘go back to your own country’ in drunken tirade.”

Bloody Poles, coming over here and abusing our Muslims. Don’t they realise this is the job of decent British newspapers like the Daily Mail?

  • Saracen Sam

It is ironic that the recently arrived Polish immigrants are telling the British Muslims, who’ve been in the UK since after WW2 & have British citizenship, to go home?!??!

  • RDS

Could be worse, Daily Star and The Sun has been brainwashing adult males with their Page 3 Girls complete with usually political blurbs that are, most likely, not the models’ own.

P.S., for more inaccuracies from The Mail and co., I suggest TabloidWatch blog.

I HATE HATE HATE the Daily Mail. I used to read their articles on Islam and most of the people who read that joke of a paper are bigots. If you go to the comments, they are majority Islamophobic and offensive. The Islamophobic comments are always given a high rating by other readers, while the comments that defend Muslims are given a low rating. It just makes me lose hope.

  • Ibrahim

I just realised that “Polack” was a derogatory term :(
I’m sorry for any offense caused by its use.

  • Ibrahim

@Amro. Could it be because the bulk of commenters could not decide between their hatred towards immigrants (in our case, the Polack) or hijabi Muslims?

  • Amro

I actually read that article at work a few hours ago. It’s really not as bad as a lot of the other stuff they publish. Plus, a lot of the comments on the article are positive, which is rare when it comes to Muslims.

    This was awful

but I tend to think of the Star and the Express as the worst offenders.
