Rep. Keith Ellison: GOP Is “Basically a Bigoted Party”

Posted on 07 September 2012 by Ilisha

Keith Ellison

The looniverse has been uncharacteristically quiet about this story, leaving rabid anti-Muslim blog Bare Naked Islam to pick up the torch:

Rabid Israel-hater and huge Hamas-supporter, Rep. Keith Ellison (D- MN), says GOP is the party of bigots because it opposes sharia law

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the first Muslim Congressman, who was sworn in on a Quran, and took money from a group (MAS) dedicated to destroying Western civilization from within, has decided to identify anyone who has a problem with Sharia law being implemented in the United States as a bigot. Interesting, coming from a member of the most bigoted group on earth – MUSLIMS!…

In case you’re wondering, MAS is the Muslim American Society, and you can read all about it on another, slightly more sophisticated hate site here.

Mother Jones also covered the story, minus the frothing-at-the-mouth editorializing.

Rep. Keith Ellison: GOP Is “Basically a Bigoted Party”

—By ,  Mother Jones

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), the nation’s first-ever Muslim member of Congress, doesn’t mince words when asked about the Republican party’s formal proclamation that the United States is under assault from Islamic Shariah law.

“It’s an expression of bigotry,” he said on Wednesday, in an interview with Mother Jones at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte. “There has never been any legislation offered to establish Shariah law—not at the federal level, not at the state level. There’s not been a municipal ordinance opposing this, there’s not been anything.”

For Ellison, the anti-Shariah plank was part of a broader narrative of exclusion.

“Why do they want to become the party of hate? They’re hating on immigrants who are from Latin America. They’re demonstrating hatred toward Muslims. They’re demonstrating hostility toward women. They act like they don’t like gay people. Who is their party supposed to be made up of in 20 years?”

“I’m sad that they have decided to go into this dark ugly place where they see the whole world as their enemy,” Ellison continued. “And this is the thing: I don’t mind debating taxes and spending; we probably should. But they’re the party that is basically a bigoted party and they have now officially declared themselves against a whole segment of the American population, because if we said we were going to put a plank opposing Jewish law, or Catholic canon, it would be an outrage. This is also an outrage. But you know, it’ll pass.”

Ellison’s remarks echoed comments he made in July after his Minnesota colleague, GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann, accused Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin of belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood. (Bachmann’s statement was condemned by some high-profile Republicans, like Arizona Sen. John McCain.) Ellison said he’s spoken with Bachmann once since the Abedin controversy—in response to a bill she was proposing to audit Medicaid recipients—but didn’t bring up the subject with her. “I don’t find that to be a productive use of my time or hers,” Ellison said. “She whipped up a million [fundraising] dollars by promulgating hate against a religious minority. I’m not gonna talk her out of that.” His plan to settle the argument is to campaign for her opponent this fall, Minneapolis hotelier Jim Graves.

“She’s always bragging about how great the private sector is. She should join it.”

“Their targeted demographics are rich white men.”

Of course not. If their targeted demographics were rich white men, they would never win.

They target poor to upper middle class white men, and make them angry with the belief the only reason they are not richer is because the Goverment is in their way giving their hard earned money to those poorer than them and African Americans.

They also scare them with those who are different, they made them afraid the Muslims will replace their God with Allah or that the atheists will take away gods completely. They make them fear gays will somehow tear their marriages apart and women will kill babies for sport.

    Anger and fear. Powerful combinations.

And yes, they target rich white men, too but that doesn’t mean all of them will vote Republican. George Clooney is a very rich white man who is unlikely to cross the R this November, and I would be surprise if tech giants, those who truly build things, like Larry Page, Sergey Brin (Google) or Bill Gates would. The rich men the Republicans targets are like, well, their candidate for President.

Its has always been a bigoted party – and putting Social Darwinism into American culture and policy.

We need to make the rich richer and impoverish the middle class to prove that “we are not a socialist (whatever that means) country…” They also hate the poor and exclude lower classes from the political table.

Now – where in the Constitution does it mandate that the federal and state governments should “reward success?”

Especially – by giving them our national wealth?

The Republican Party is also the party of thief of our national wealth!

    @mindy and moose,

It would be nice to hear a plan. Okay so we have the Muslim in chief, Huma Abedin’s Muslim Brotherhood family is spying on the Secretary of State, we have Keith Ellison and the other one/two/? Muslim representatives, there are the radicalized Muslims that Peter King has located, the Muslim lady that works in the TN’s governor’s office….so let’s put it all together…what is the consolidated plan…how does it all work…how do we implement Sharia?

@Reynardine Look, at least they cut rapists some slack right?

Their targeted demographics are rich white men. Those who do not have a million dollars in their bank accounts, or those who look different, pray different, love different, or even have a different opinion on those rich fat cats are not americans and are not welcome in america.

The GOP is very dangerous. Hate leads to violence, and the GOP is based on hate.

How do you impose Sharia Law with like 2 or 3 elected Muslim representatives?

  • Reynardine

Indeed, I have said as much: they hate poor people, they hate teachers, they hate Muslims, they hate women, they hate godless atheist Mooslin eevil libruls (whoever fits in one category, fits them all), they hate immigrants, they hate black people, they hate brown people, they hate environmentalists and altruists and pacifists and people with educations from real colleges (read, “cultural Marxists” for any combination of the foregoing), they hate scientists…and they make no bones about hating them. So who do these bigots think will vote for them? Or are they planning to “rule” (their word) without having been elected at all?…
