Some Broward County Muslim parents have requested that Muslim holidays be added to the school calendar at a public diversity hearing.

The response from some of the prolific anti-Muslim groups in Broward (home of Rep. Allen West) including loon Joe Kaufman was to scream about “terrorism,” “cultural Jihad,” and “camels” entering your home.

This sounds like something countless people involved in the “counter jihad” would say. They often act like all accommodation is somehow part of a grand conspiracy to turn the west into an Islamic theocracy. Listen Geller or Citizen Warrior and you’ll be led to believe that allowing Muslim women to voluntarily wear the Hijab is just pretense for forcing all women to wear them. Its a common claim amongst Islamophobes.

When Muslims ask for freebies, the solution is not to accede to such demands but to take away the freebies given to non-Muslims.

Well, and you think about it, camels are rather MORE American than apple pie, since domestic apples, with the exception of certain red-fleshed kinds descended in part from Malus soulardii, trace their entire ancestry to Eurasia. Camels, on the other hand, originated in North America, though none are native here now. Most people have heard of the Walmart camel, found when they excavated for that store in Roswell. In Saudi Arabia, they actually bred a viable offspring from a dromedary and a llama, so the divergence was relatively recent, and there were feral camels (descended from Camel corps releases) in the American Southwest until the mid-Twentieth Century.
