Australia visit prompts condemnation of Wilders

Far-right Dutch MP Geert Wilders could learn a lot about the strengths of multiculturalism during his Australian visit, community and religious leaders say.

Mr Wilders will give speeches in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth this month about what he calls the “Islamisation of Australia”.

A coalition of 24 groups – including the AFL and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne – issued a joint statement in Melbourne on Monday, reinforcing their support for Victoria’s “multicultural and multifaith community”.

“We have a collective responsibility to respect our fellow citizens and preserve the social cohesion and harmony that characterise Victoria and makes our society great,” the statement says. “We welcome challenging ideas and debate, however, inciting hatred and animosity towards specific cultural or faith-based communities has no place in Victoria.”

State Multicultural Affairs Minister Nicholas Kotsiras says Mr Wilders could learn a lot from his visit to the state. “I find it amazing that someone could travel 16,000 kilometres to tell us why he and his party have failed in his own country,” he told reporters in Melbourne. “If he wants to come to learn and to educate himself about the success of multiculturalism and diversity, Victoria is the place to be.”

hey hey dutchie. I think Zionism in practice is more an “ideology of hate” than Islam is. Zionism is a racist ideology as well.
Last I checked Islam was a religion almost as large and as varied as Christianity.

Thank youf for your comment, I agree with it.

I have followed loonwatch for a while and I hope that they address this hadith. I think there was mention of it some place, in some article, I will have to find it, but a whole article on it would be good.

What I can say from my study and researching of hadith is that there are different variations in the way this hadith has been reported. All of them make it abundant that this is a prophecy about,

I.) Al-Akhira or Last Days (i.e. End Times).
II.) Refers to a specific group of Jews who will be part of the army of Dajjal (anti-Christ). Nawwawi commented in his Sharh (explanation) that this refers to a group of 30,000 Jews from Isfahan.
III.) The language of the hadith shows that this battle is actually a defensive battle, not one in which Jews are hunted your translation of it is completely wrong. All the Arabic points it out, “the Jews will fight the Muslims…”

For years many scholars did not know what to make of this hadith since it had no bearing on reality, since Jews did not have their own polity or state and so many scholars thought it may be a hadith of weak meaning. Of course with the creation of Israel this hadith was resurrected and some erroneous and manipulative use of it have occurred in the backdrop of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

The context of Medina might give us some understanding since reports show that the Jews of Medina regularly threatened the Muslims that a Messiah would come to help them and obliterate the Muslims. Maybe it responded to that?

This hadith cannot and should not be used to kill or dehumanize any Jews. I further believe from my own philosophy that this hadith has to be critically analysis as it can in wrong hands be used against the true spirit of our relationship with the Jewish people of the book and go against the Quran which is the ultimate authority, above the hadith.

Where does all this two wrongs make a right school of thought come from ?. If the Quran is racist and I dont accept that and the Hadith is racist and I accept its a mixed bag of stuff ,then why does that make Git Wilders racism become acceptable ?
I am sure everyone on this site would welcome people looking at Islam for themselves . I would suggest all interested people to visit your local mosque and talk to real muslims to find out for yourself rather than talking heads and nutters of dubious back ground on the internet

  • Islamic laws are based on the Koran and the Hadith.
    This comes from the Hadith:
Allah’s Apostle said, “You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of
them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, ‘O ‘Abdullah
(i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.'”
Wilders is protesting against this ideology of hate. I think protesters against Wilders first should take a look at Islam itself before calling him a racist while he is protesting against a racist ideology.

One does wonder who is paying for his holiday in the Sun ?

    That explains his Xenophobia

  • mindy1
  • Well, at least a lot of people over there are against him and his bigoted policies.

Glad Wilders’ arrival sparked protest. The less support he has the better.

The photo at the top of this article is misleading, young Geert had dark hair, owing to his Indonesian Mulatto heritage:

It’s certainly amazing that a product of multiculturalism, Geert the Indonesian Mulatto, can lecture on the dangers of multiculturalism
