Jon Stewart Dumbstruck by Bachmann Egypt Trip: ‘Please Be a Jimmy Kimmel Prank…’

Mediaite

Jon Stewart has seen some crazy political stunts, but Michele Bachmann, Steve King, and Louis Gohmert holding a joint press conference in Egypt was just too much for him. Stewart sighed, facepalmed, and begged to the comedy gods, “Please be a Jimmy Kimmel prank…”

Stewart roundly mocked the Three Musketeers for trying to bring Egypt a “quick shot of vitamin America” and the condescending way they treated Egyptian democracy. And looking at the stage they were on, Stewart wondered if they were really in Egypt to begin with. He suggested they were just on the fake-moon sound stage, noticing the three of them “look afraid they’re going to get all Muslim on them.”

Stewart then introduced the Daily Show follow-up delegation, including correspondent Samantha Bee and sketch comedy/television icons Bob Odenkirk and David Cross. Bee issued an apology to the nation of Egypt “for sending you literally the three stupidest people in America.”

We’re following this story with great interest, as we learn more we will decide if it fits, right now all we have is speculation. Thanks for the heads up.

  • jameyfan

the fact that Jon made fun of him for saying Jews are in control of the media? He shouldn’t have been fired though and I think even Jon Stewart didn’t think he should’ve been fired for that comment.

  • jameyfan

but it’s a comedy channel so it’s meant to be funny yet informative. To me it’s a perfect balance during these depressing times when you need something to lighten up your stress level. I love Colbert but he’s too much about himself and is constantly interrupting his interviewees which can be very annoying. He was horrible with Jeremy Scahill who didn’t get a chance to say much about his book, “Dirty Wars”. Jon Stewart seems more respectful of his guests but can also be tough with the loons.

  • Jekyll

Also there is this, better ?

  • Jekyll

Yup :) Though only one, I don’t know who the other idiot was.

They only highlight the problem by laughing at it, pretending that making fun of it makes the sting of reality go away. It certainly does not. And the fact that most people of my generation get their “news” from these two clowns is sign of the times we live…SAD.

Don’t get me wrong, these guys are funny and good at what they do and watching them after a long hiatus can make anybody laugh. Though Colbert beats Stewart 10,000 to 1. Stewart is sometimes just pathetic, though he would be qualified to run for mayor of NYC! (And his 9-11 video was emphatic though somewhat disingenuous ?).

soooo…are you the one who down voted my comment? :/

  • jameyfan

    That’s always fun to watch!

  • Sam Seed

That is so sad, words cannot describe how sorry I feel for this man. But I don’t think it’s anything to do with Islamophobia hence why it is not on Loonwatch.

Could you please do a story on this. A Muslim man’s family was murdered in an arson attack.

  • Tanveer Khan

  • Jekyll

    id even want to know

  • Tanveer Khan

    Naruto.

  • jameyfan

Seriously?! Now why would I get down votes? I need to know the names of those who voted me down. Is it because you don’t like Samantha Bee or is it me? Speak up now. :/

  • Seeker

    I stand corrected. :)

  • Mehdi

Yep, sthg like Samuel Jackson in pulp fiction

  • Tanveer Khan

You be Barry White. I’ll be Vin Diesel. We’ll start howling words like Jihad, Zina, Sharia, Hudud whilst they’re sleeping. Scare the shite out of them xD

  • Mehdi

Ok so let me just grab my Barry White voice and let’s go have some fun ;)

  • Tanveer Khan

Robert Spencer and co believe Muslims want to take over America. They are scared of everything. xD

  • GaribaldiOfLoonwatch

No was a mistake, though that is funny.

  • Mehdi

Maybe but aren’t afraid that this scares poor Robert Spencer & co?

  • Tanveer Khan

Urgh. Hulu looks so useful. I could do with that. -_-
