National newspaper is prejudiced and skewing halal debate, says MP

So much in the way that Britain talks about Islam and Muslims today is just plainly embarrassing and reminiscent of the worst Islamophobes in the USA.

National newspaper is prejudiced and skewing halal debate, says MP

MP Yasmin Qureshi has accused national newspapers of prejudice in the debate over the ethics of halal and kosher meat. The MP for Bolton South East spoke in parliament over the practice of slaughtering meat in line with Islamic law.

The issue hit the headlines last week after The Sun newspaper reported how restaurant Pizza Express serves halal chicken without stating it on its menu. In the House of Commons Ms Qureshi slammed the publication for “skewing the debate” without fully informing people about studies which show Islamic slaughter – via a deep incision to a vein in the neck – is less painful to animals than stunning them first.

She said: “The newspaper that is going on about halal meat does not talk about experimentation on animals, which is real cruelty. We know that it just wants to have a go at one particular group of people.

“No one wants to talk about the science, because the accepted wisdom goes with the prejudice that I am sorry to say certain newspapers in this country show towards certain groups without looking at the evidence.

“We should have a proper scientific debate about slaughtering, because the evidence is out there. Concern is perpetuated because most people do not know how the halal or kosher methods of slaughter take place.”

“David Cameron said that Britain was a Christian Country, and now
with Pizza Express sneaking in Halal Chicken. It is only fair and proper that meat be slaughtered in accordance with Christian Beliefs and practices”

Well David Cameron is obvious an idiot. Actually some Orthodox Christianity has some ritual similar to Kashrut and Halal belief of Jews and Muslims. Nicene Christianity doesn’t have any beliefs in slaughter.

David Cameron said that Britain was a Christian Country, and now
with Pizza Express sneaking in Halal Chicken. It is only fair and proper that meat be
slaughtered in accordance with Christian Beliefs and practices.

If we consult the Bible, (thanks to those nice chaps at Britain
first who were handing them out the other day ) after reviewing the New testament (As most of the Christians I know
keep reminding me that the old testament laws do not apply to them)

Book of Acts, which is most definitely New Testament, and off course
the King James Version as undoubtedly

this was the language spoken the early Christians, none of that
foreign languages like Aramiac or Hebrew.

    Acts 15 – verse 19-20

19 Wherefore my sentence is , that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

    and in GOD`s WORD Translation

19 “So I’ve decided that we
shouldn’t trouble non-Jewish people who are turning to God.

20Instead, we should write a letter telling them to keep
away from things polluted by false gods, from sexual sins, from
eating the meat of strangled animals, and from eating bloody meat.

and in the New International Version.

    19 “It
is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult
for the Gentiles who are turning to God.

    20 Instead we
should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted
by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled
    animals and from blood.

    an the Douay-Rheims

    19 For
which cause, judge that they who from among the Gentiles are
converted to God are not to be disquieted:

    20 But that
we write unto them, that they refrain themselves from the
pollutions of idols and from fornication and from things strangled
    and from blood.

So in summary all Christians according to the Bible should be eating
meat that has not been strangled and has the

    blood drained.

We think so! We used to buy most of our meat from the local farmer’s market (in our pre-farm days), which while not halal per se was ethically raised and humanely slaughtered.
