WhatIfTheyWereMuslim.com is Here

Loonwatchers make the Loonwatch world go round. Your comments, tips, suggestions and critiques help make our site better. One of the types of articles that you guys have responded to favorably and for which we get the most tips has been the running segment “What if they were Muslim.” It is a segment where we bring to light the double standards and hypocrisy of both media and popular culture in the way Islam and Muslims are portrayed.

In the segment we highlight the absurd hypocrisy of those who attempt to link every misstep, misdeed or crime committed by a Muslim to his or her faith. Would the same crime, if committed by a Christian, be treated in a similar fashion if the perpetrator were Muslim? The preponderance of the evidence would suggests otherwise.

Now we have created a website, WhatiftheywereMuslim.com, that compiles and publishes all the “what if they were Muslim” stories in one place.

From the website,

Here at What if they were Muslim we question what would happen if a Jewish, Christian, Hindu, ______(insert religion of choice) were to commit a crime in the name of their faith. Would it be treated the same way if a Muslim committed the exact same crime? Would very little emphasis be put on the perpetrators religion? Would it be stressed that the act is an aberration, a misrepresentation of the religion? Would the religion be mentioned at all?

WITWM is not a site that opines on the “what if” scenario of your favorite Hollywood star being a Muslim. It has nothing to do with Angelina Jolie or Johnny Depp, etc. It has everything to do with the double standards in both media and pop culture that perpetuate the myth that Islam is inherently more violent than other religions or the root cause of misdeeds by Muslims.

We hope that our faithful Loonwatchers who have made this site such a success will continue to provide their support by also visiting WITWM and commenting and sharing the pieces.

    JihadBob Just FYI
Salem Fellak and Hocine Hocini Algerian acquitted by a court the two Christian men of eating during Ramadan.
On Tuesday, however, the judge at the court in Ain El Hamman dismissed the case since “no article [of law] provided for a legal pursuit” against the two Christians, according to the BBC.

A small group of Christians standing on the steps of the courthouse reportedly shouted “Hallelujah!” when they heard the outcome of the case. After the verdict, Fellak said he was happy and that he had done nothing wrong, according to Reuters.

SO IT WAS A WRONGFUL ARREST BY COPS AND THEY WERE LET GO AND ALSO

    WAIT……SOME OF THEM WERE MUSLIM

Local media also reported cases of Muslim Algerians arrested for eating during Ramadan

France currently censors websites that deny the Holocaust. JihadBob, why don’t you pop down there and tell the Frenchies that they are misunderstanding the Western tradition of free speech? Why don’t you let them know that they should not listen to the Jews and let everyone speak freely?

Hmmm. Maybe its because when Jews are involved then there is nooo problem but when Muslims want the same protection from Hate Speech then they are being ignorant about the Freedom of Speech. Double Standard or what? Need I remind you what happened when the Arab European League decided to put the West’s freedom of Speech to the test soon after the Danish Cartoons…

Amazing, brilliant, awesome! you guys are on a roll, keep it up!

  • NassirH

JihadBob: What do you think about laws against denying the Holocaust or Armenian genocide?

Considering that you and Spencer deny the Bosnia genocide, you would be a hypocrite if you didn’t support repealing such laws.

Of course, as we all know, you have a warped logic: banning the Koran, deporting Muslims, and taxing headscarves isn’t fascist, while stopping the demonization of a minority is.

  • NassirH

    @JihadBob

    > “It’s because I’m not an Islamo-fascist that I support these acts of free speech and protest.”

    Right…

Your opinions would be reasonable if only you supported the right of Muslims to build mosques on privately owned land.

However, as you don’t, you (by your definition) would be classified as a hypocritical fascist.

  • JihadBob

The Phelps do have a right to protest at or near funerals.

However, some facts need to be taken into consideration, such as whether the funeral service is private property or if the deceased was buried on government land.

Oh, and the Phelps have not been arrested or charged with a crime. They are in court facing a civil suit from the aggrieved family. I personally think the suit should be dismissed because suing someone for comments you don’t like is not much better than the government fining or arresting you for your comments.

One could get technical and say that funeral services are a religious ceremony, so the Phelps’ protests could be seen as infringing on the First Amendment rights of the people the funeral.

  • Ahmed

“Oh, I agree. Someone exercising their free speech by burning some private property was the real fanatic.

Not the Muslims who burnt down Christian schools and churches in India or threatened violence against others over such an ultimately irrelevant action.

You know, because in the world of mass printing, it’s not like there aren’t a hundred billion Korans Muslim missionaries can send to people to get them to convert to Islam, as opposed to human life, buildings and our freedoms that most Muslims would apparently like to see taken away.

Oh know, Pastor Jones was the boogie man.

    Better believe it….or else.”

    I can’t believe I’m actually agreeing with JihadBob. 😛

Why is Fred Phelps not allowed to continue with his anti-gay crusade? Is he not protected under the First Amendment to make a mockery of anyones funeral?

Hypocrisy alert. Gays get protected against hate speech, Muslims don’t.

  • Mosizzle

That is exactly the point Jihadbob, I couldn’t give a damn about what Algeria does. There is no reason why I and other Muslims should be blamed for what it does to Non-Muslims.

It is technically un-Islamic to punish someone for eating in front of a fasting person. There is a hadith that angels give blessings to a faster if someone is eating in front of them.

  • JihadBob

    What if they were Muslim?

Authorities on Aug. 12 arrested Salem Fellak and Hocine Hocini for eating lunch on a private construction site where they were working. Ramadan, Islam’s month of fasting during daylight hours, started this year on Aug. 11.

The incident took place in Ain El-Hammam, a town in the province of Tizi Ouzou about 150 kilometers (93 miles) east of the Algerian capital. Tizi Ouzou is part of Kabylie, an area of Algeria where the country’s Protestant church has grown with relative freedom in recent years.

Officers at a nearby police station saw the two men eating and confronted them for not fasting. When police realized the two men were Christians, they accused them of insulting Islam, according to local French-language press reports.

    …..

The Algerian Constitution gives the right to all citizens to practice their faith, although it declares Islam the state religion and prohibits institutions from behavior incompatible with Islamic morality. Proposing other faiths to Muslims is also forbidden.

After police arrested Hocini and Fellak, authorities interrogated them for two hours and “admonished” them, according to a French-language news site. Authorities took them to court, where a state prosecutor questioned them. When the men explained to her that they were Christians, she said that Algeria was a Muslim country with no room for Christians and that they should leave the country, according to a local news site.

    ….

    Worshipping without Permit
The charges against the two Christians and a case of four Christians on trial for worshipping without a permit in Tizi Ouzou Province have some wondering what has caused authorities to turn their attention to this small community.

This Sunday (Oct. 10), the four men will appear in court for holding Christian meetings at a residence without permission. One of the men, Mahmoud Yahou, has told a local newspaper, “This story concerns all Christians in our country. We are a community intimidated around the country.”

Yahou cited other recent cases of persecution, including that of Habiba Kouider, who in 2008 was tried for practicing Christianity “without a license.” Her case is still pending. Another Christian, Rachid Muhammad Essaghir, has three court cases against him, all in appeals process since 2008.

In most cases, Christians have been charged under a presidential decree from February 2006 that restricts religious worship to government approved buildings. The decree, known as Ordinance 06-03, also outlaws any attempt to convert Muslims to another faith.

Hypocrites such as yourself are against first amendment rights for Muslims, yet defend hate speech from a Mr.Jones with blind fanaticism.

I do indeed support our First Amendment right for Terry Jones to burn Korans just as I support an artist’s right to dump a crucifix into a vault of urine or an American citizen to burnt he American flag in the United States.

It’s because I’m not an Islamo-fascist that I support these acts of free speech and protest.

I am, however, against the OIC’s Islamo-fascist attempt to take our Western freedoms away from us and criminalize speech or actions that Muslim find offensive. It proves the point that Islamo-fascists attack us because they really do hate our Western freedoms – an artist drawing Muhammad thousands of miles away from them is enough to set off Islamic unruly Islamic mobs (who often target local Christian communities) and create terrorist cells dedicated to assassinating these people.

It’s also gotten to the point that Political Islam has gotten strong enough that it feels that it can confront Western freedoms head on and use our system against us to take our freedoms away via the UN.

  • Pamspimp

Great job LW, pile it on the haters. Show no mercy.

  • Khushboo

sounds great! looking forward to it! 😀

  • Cynic

Apparently if he is banned, that makes everybody here an “Islamofascist”. Pfft! And he thinks he isn’t biased, and that he comes here for honest debate. Yeah, right, and I’m Spiderman.

  • Justin

    @JihadBob

You make yourself look more bigoted and stupid every time you post something. Just stop, for your own sake.

  • Ustadh

Great job guys. WITWMuslim is one of my favorite segments on Loonwatch. I look forward to some awesome stuff there just like here.

One thing you guys should do is ban JihadBob, he is extremely annoying and is only here to divert and distract people as well as to lay the evil eye on you. :-)

Go Loonwatch, love the progress, never fail to impress!!

  • PatHenry

Awesome, that was always one of my favorite segments. It really says a lot and exposes the latent hypocrisy in the media handling of stories.

JihadBob, you have a very amusing name.

  • NassirH

    Good point JihadBob.

Hypocrites such as yourself are against first amendment rights for Muslims, yet defend hate speech from a Mr.Jones with blind fanaticism.

Good for you–proving Loonwatch correct every post you make.

  • JihadBob

Maybe you could start a sister site asking, ‘What if they weren’t Muslim?’

I also have a great article you could kick your new site off with: suicide bombers attack Sufi shrines in Pakistan.

What do the targeted Muslims do?

    Riot.

    Seems logical to me!!!

Or, unruly mobs spring up throughout the Muslim world over some pastor’s plan to burn some holy books.

    What does the world do?

Condemn Pastor Jones as a fanatic.

  • NassirH

    What if they were Muslim?

    A media feeding-frenzy.

    That’s what.
