Allen West and ACT! for America: Radical anti-Muslim Activists

Posted on 28 June 2011 by Mooneye

ACT! for America, or as they are better known ACT! for Hate, held a meeting recently headlined by Rep. Allen West. Allen West of course is an anti-Muslim Islamophobe extraordinaire, we’ve covered his rise to prominence within the hardcore radical anti-Muslim right-wing quite extensively.

The main themes of his speech revolved around the usual wacky fear-mongering and hatred about how suspicious Muslims are, how they want to take over the world, how we need to be real “Americans” and fight them instead of “surrendering.”

At the end of the day it is plain nutty stuff, but here is the cause for concern: Allen West is a Congressman, he has a cult-like following among Conservatives, and there will be a few who will take his call for action and translate that into violence against Muslims.

You can find the video of his speech on YouTube, I am not linking to it since it directs to a hate channel. Interestingly, the video was shot by Austrian anti-Muslim politician Elizabeth Sabbaditsch-Wolff who was recorded a few years ago saying, “Muslims rape children.” Wolff seems to be a favorite amongst right-wing anti-Muslim nut-jobs, she appears frequently at their rallies and conferences.

Here are some of the choice cuts from Allen West’s diatribe against Muslims and Islam:

“I like Irish Spring, but I don’t much care for Arab Spring”

“If you’re going to act for America first you have to be like America…the America in which there was an understanding and a seeking of a merciful god…a Judeo-Christian God”

“We are not out of the woods yet, it’s something totally different, it’s called lawfare, a new line of attack. We have long seen such victories in Europe and its backdoors (inaudible), over thirty years Europe has traveled down that path, appeasement, obfuscation and cultural abdication in pursuit of short sighted political and economic gain and benefits, she observes that ‘today, Europe has evolved from a Judeo-Christian civilization with post-Enlightenment secular elements to a simple nation of dhimmitude Eurabia, a secular Muslim transitional society with its judeo-christian mores rapidly declining

“where is the outrage from millions of peaceful Muslims and Muslim nations when their religion is supposedly hijacked?”

“the Quran is longer than the Bible”

“In order to act for America, you have to act like Americans”

“you have to ask yourself, is our liberty important enough to fight for?”

“Is Western civilization worth saving?”

“We stand at the brink of a new dark age”

“Find out if Muslim Student Associations are terrorizing students on university campuses”

“Help our European brothers and sisters, there are a number of organizations fighting back in this clash of civilizations”

“War is an ugly thing, but it is not the ugliest thing”

“Act like Americans, not the poor timid soul who would surrender the greatest nation the world has ever known.”

West’s statements are increasingly becoming radical which is in line with the general trend in the Islamophobesphere. As they find that their words, actions and exhortations are not gaining traction with mainstream society their speech gets increasingly hostile and inflammatory. The Islamophobes long ago dropped rational discourse and have increasingly latched onto emotional and irresponsible rhetoric. It is only a matter of time before we see a crazy guy acting on the fears and anxiety stoked by the likes of West throwing a bomb into a mosque while people pray.

I am not understanding what the term ‘Judeo Christian’ actually means.

Jews and Christians, at least idologically are much more opposite than Muslims and Jews.

It makes me wonder…if America is, or was ever ment to be a Judeo Christian society…why were so many Jews turned away as asylum seekers during WW2.

Can any of you pro spencer/geller fans answer that?

  • Proto Pat

    “I like Irish Spring”

I don’t think the Westies will appreciate that.

@ Michael Akkawi, regarding this comment: http://www.loonwatch.com/2011/06/allen-west-and-act-for-america-radical-anti-muslim-activists/#comment-79425 .

I appreciate your disgust with Allen West, and your pointing out that violence in the Qur’an is far less than what’s in the Bible (particularly the “Old Testament”). This comment stands out:

“If defaming and labeling adherents of a religion as terrorists for the unflattering stuff in their religion was a good or fair thing (it’s of course not), then it’s Muslims who should be defaming Jews and Christians day and night for the matchless violence in the OT!”

However, I do believe you have misrepresented Muslims a bit. If democracy is incompatible with Islam, it will certainly come as a surprise at least to Sunnis – and they’re overwhelmingly in the majority. Even Shia Muslims though (at least many of them) – for whom democracy is at least theoretically improper – recognize that since the Imam appointed by God is currently in seclusion, democracy is at least ONE valid method of proper government until the time for the public revelation of the Twelfth Imam. They may deny the validity of the “election” of Abu Bakr and other Caliphs other than Ali, but they believe that it’s not the appointed time yet for the last of God’s appointed Imams to reappear. Even Ali did not seek to “compel” the Muslim community to accept his Divine appointment.

You also said: “But alas Muslims are facing a deadlock, they believe the OT is also from God!

They are stuck, they can’t face defamation with defamation, they can’t cast doubt over Christianity or Judaism, they can’t say the early Israelis massacred Canaanites and aboriginals of Palestine because Muslims themselves believe the early Israelis were commanded by God to fight and occupy the holy land!”

This is also quite inaccurate. Muslims are rather famous, I would think, for outright rejecting much that is in the Bible. Yes, they definitely believe that Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, etc. were true Prophets of God; but they don’t believe the Bible is correct in a number of things it says about these Prophets. For instance, they simply refuse to believe that a Prophet of God could be guilty of adultery and murder, so they reject those stories about David as they appear in the Bible.

I doubt there are many, if any, Muslims who would have any difficulty in simply rejecting the stories of the atrocities committed by the Israelites under the direction of Moses and Joshua (or David, or any other Prophet) – supposedly by the command of God. Muslims know that the kind of viciousness portrayed in those stories is completely repugnant to the character of God; so they know the stories are either distorted or are outright fabrications. I don’t recall that in any of the frequent references to Moses and Aaron in the Qur’an there is even one story about God commanding them to lead the Israelites in mass murder.

No, Muslims are by no means “stuck” with not being able to condemn the violence of the Old Testament – because they don’t accept either the Old or New Testaments as “infallible Scriptures”. Surely if you’ve read any of Danios’ “Understanding Jihad” series, and seen the comments of Muslim readers, you’ll have to realize that not only are Muslims not “stuck”, but they are quick to point out that those Old Testament accounts are atrocious, vicious, and certainly ungodly. I don’t know for sure that Danios is Muslim, but he is certainly very knowledgeable about Islam – and he doesn’t pull any punches about Biblical atrocities.

Through all of this fear mongering these anti-Islam people ignore (or are ignorant of) a couple of important points:

    1. Islam does not condone terrorism and the rules of warfare found in the Qur’an and Sunnah forbid indiscriminate killing and treachery. This is a provable fact. Just because the Takfiris/Kharijites ignore this part of their religion only reinforces the Prophethood of Muhammad (saw), as he foretold of this group (The Khawarij) and their evil, ordered the Muslims to oppose them, and even said they would eventually fight for the Anti-Christ against Jesus (as) during the last days.

    2. Muslims in the US are some of the nicest, most law-abiding, and caring people you will ever meet. It’s sad that so many look with suspicion of their colleagues and neighbors, who are really some of the most family oriented, God-fearing, hospitable, and some of the best citizens this country has to offer.

    3. Islam forbids treachery, particularly when you are a guest in the non-Muslim lands. We as Muslims are granted safety and security, and it is a major sin if we violate that trust. This is the classical/Orthodox stance based on the Qur’an and Sunnah.

    4. How exactly is liberal democracy compatible with The Bible and its teachings? What about Jews who still strive to follow their Law? This seems like an issue most conservatives try to gloss over. Do they want to be “free” as the Freemason Founding Fathers (and Founding Son, JQA) understood it, or do they want a religious government/society as Pat Robertson understands it?

    5. Shariah is the law we Muslims live by. These are the moral rules and regulations all Muslims must follow. This has to do with issues of worship and spirituality. The functions of the state are irrelevant because the US is not an Islamic State and anyone who thinks it will be anytime soon are deluded. Where are the Muslim groups in the US that are calling for proscribed Islamic punishments in this country? They don’t exist except in the imagination of anti-Islam fanatics. I am starting to believe the real issue is to limit or cast suspicion on Usury-free financing….but that’s a whole other can of worms.

    May Allah guide us all.

  • Khushboo

Allen West is a disgrace to his own race! Doesn’t he know that by going against one minority group of people, Muslims, he’s helping the white supremacists to soon go after the next group of minorities (Jews, gays, African Americans, Asians, etc.) once Muslims are out of their way. He reminds me of Dave Chappelle’s blind, black KKK member skit. LOL

  • Crow

Jcscuba. act doesn’t hate Islam, it’s warning about the evils of sharia LOL!! And pam geller actually LOVES Muslims and hates Islam. Fact is act for america is a hate group no different from the klan (they don’t hate African- Americans, they just hate their culture) or the aryan nation (they don’t hate Jews they just hate their religion). so play all the little word games you want that let’s you live with the fact you support a hate group. And I agree with alan west war is an ugly thing but it’s not the ugliest thing…that would be brigette gabriel LOL!!! Feel free to share that joke with your fellow act members.

  • http://peakofelephants.tumblr.com Peakofelephants

    @jcscuba

If you knew the first thing (or ANYthing, for that matter) about “Shariah law” then you wouldn’t call it “Shariah law” (read: “Law law”). Sort of like how only the functionally retarded call it the “Sahara Desert” as opposed to just the “Sahara.”

  • NassirH

@jcscuba, most people know insanity when they see it. Of course, for you it would be a bit like looking into a mirror.

And fear-mongering about shari’a law? You don’t the first thing about shari’a law, let alone the fact that it’s never going to subvert our current system of law notwithstanding what loons like Allen West say. The man is clearly an paranoid idiot, as evidenced by his comments.

  • Michael Akkawi

    @jcscuba
you seem to have a response to everything

Yes it seems I am silly, sure there are NO bigoted Christians on our planet. Enjoy your stay on Mars!

  • jcscuba

What what responses so far from uninformed people about Allen West. The entire article is Bogus. ACT doesn’t hate ISLAM it teaches people about the evil of Sharia law.
1@Anna Re: I wonder if he thinks the liberty is worth fighting for?? His career in the military and multiple tours in Afghanistan and Iraq answer that question

2.@Nassir, yep when you have noting to say use names are you a tea bagger?

3.@mindy1 What makes this guy such a hater? Do you know anything about the man? You take the information in this piece to make you opinion and then you vote?

    4. @Mosizzil way to go, you got it right!

    5. @ Michael very Ironic? Bigoted Christians give me a break J.C.

  • Michael Akkawi

Why cant he decide what he wants? Secular & liberal democracy or Judoe-Christian values (theocracy) worth “fight[ing] for” as he says?

Why can’t some bigoted & supremacist Christians and Jews understand that all Abrahamic religions are democracy-INcompatible, ALL OF THEM. Reformed interpretations might be compatible (this also applies to all religions as well)!

Some Christian & Jewish & even atheist bigots like Dawkins at times forget that the violence in the Quran is a copy-lighten-paste version for their Judeo-Christian violence which is found in their scriptures, only the Quran is less harsh, not as extreme, and with no call of wholesale genocide of Civilians and Children like the OT!

If defaming and labeling adherents of a religion as terrorists for the unflattering stuff in their religion was a good or fair thing (it’s of course not), then it’s Muslims who should be defaming Jews and Christians day and night for the matchless violence in the OT!

But alas Muslims are facing a deadlock, they believe the OT is also from God!

They are stuck, they can’t face defamation with defamation, they can’t cast doubt over Christianity or Judaism, they can’t say the early Israelis massacred Canaanites and aboriginals of Palestine because Muslims themselves believe the early Israelis were commanded by God to fight and occupy the holy land!

But while Muslims are stuck, bigoted Christians are one-eyed or even blind, blind to the atrocities found in their Judeo-Christian heritage, let alone today’s wars started by the Judeo-Christian countries!

    Very ironic!

  • Mosizzle

“where is the outrage from millions of peaceful Muslims and Muslim nations when their religion is supposedly hijacked?”

Here, 62 million Pakistanis signed this petition to express their outrage at terrorist attacks in an extraordinary display of “taqiyya and kitman”:
    http://www.yehhumnaheen.org/cc.php?finalpage_os=index.php

This is in addition to the numerous scholars and Imams who have condemned terrorists attacks.

  • mindy1

What is up with this guy??? What happend to him to make him such a hater

  • NassirH

    Any link to the video?

  • NassirH

He might lose the Aquafina vote with that bottled water quote, though, he definitely has the teabagger vote in the bag.

  • Anna

I wonder if the liberty he thinks is worth fighting for

“you have to ask yourself, is our liberty important enough to fight for?”

Includes our own Bill of Rights, which have much more to fear from our government and politicians than we have to fear from terrorists.

  • corey

I wonder if one of those solutions to fighting islam involves digging up muslim gravesites like that idiot mayor wanted to do in sydney new york did showing that even a dead muslim is someone to be afraid of.

  • Crow

It’s funny how everything they do and say is completly against what both the US and religion stand for. They can try to impose their fascist views by esposing revisionist history but most people know the true face of the enemy. By the way who do west and cain think these Islamaphobes are going to attack once west and cain are no longer useful idiots to them?
