Louie Gohmert: I’m Going to be Pushing for Hearings on “Creeping Sharia'”

Does it get anymore hick then Gomert?

Rep. Louie Gohmert: ‘I’m Going To Be Pushing…To Have Some Hearings’ On The Creeping Threat Of Sharia Law

When pollsters ask Americans what the most important issues facing the country are, “creeping Sharia law” barely competes with the margin of error (and only does so by generously grouping it with “other”). But this hasn’t prevented Republicans from tripping over themselves to make combating Sharia law a central focus of their legislative agenda.

In November, Oklahoma became the first state to ban the cipher threat of Sharia law. (Native American law may have been inadvertently affected as well.) Next month, Republicans will again target Muslims when Rep. Peter King (R-NY), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, holds hearings on the threat posed by radical Islam. King, who has said that Muslims aren’t “American” when it comes to war, is already compiling a radical rightwitness list for the hearings, including Dutch critic Islam Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who believes that “Islam is a cult,” that “there is no moderate Islam,” and that “we are at war with Islam.”

This week, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) joined the growing chorus of Republicans clamoring for hearings to look into the threat of “creeping Sharia law.” Appearing on Frank Gaffney’s radio show (Gaffney is of course the chief architect of the “creeping Sharia” threat), Gohmert told the host he hoped they would “have some hearings” and that he would “be pushing for them”:

GOHMERT: The biggest shock out of all of this is that the women’s liberation groups have not just gone berserk over this creep into our society that diminishes women as it does.

GAFFNEY: This creep of Sharia law you’re talking about, Congressman Louie Gohmert. You’re absolutely right, they’re nowhere to be seen as this is such an affront to everything that they supposedly hold dear. It’s really extraordinary and it’s why we’re so delighted that you are in place in the United States Congress and that you will be holding forth I know as the Judiciary Committee begins its deliberations this session to look at the creep of Sharia law.

GOHMERT: I’m hoping we’re going to have some hearings because I’m going to be pushing for them. To discuss this issue because it does diminish the Constitution when you bring any law in that doesn’t allow women to be full equal citizens of the United States.

Listen here:

This is not idle banter. As chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security, Gohmert has the power to hold such hearings. Rep. Allen West (R-FL), who serves on the House Armed Services Committee, has also said that the 112th Congress should prioritize the threat of “infiltration of the Sharia practice” in the United States. Between King, Gohmert, and West, three separate House committees could decide to spend valuable congressional time combating a phantom threat. Unfortunately, this Muslim scapegoating will do nothing to make America a more free, secure, or just society.

This is the start of a slippery slope. Whats next, making Muslims wear specific identification markers(which some have suggested already)?

I seriously don’t get why Americans are scared of sharia “creeping” in. It will never “creep” in, here is why:

It will *NOT* come AT ALL ie when Muslims are NOT a majority in the Senate and House.

Lets say IF Muslims in USA do increase in numbers to such an extent that they are a majority in House and Senate and IF they vote Sharia to come in, Sharia will BARGE in not CREEP in…so until that time all the loons please give your irrational fears of sharia, “creeping” in, a rest.

Muslims at this point are about 5 million in USA. US’s total population is about 300 million so Muslims are 1.6% of the total population so that means its going to be ages until Muslims totally command Senate and House to enforce Sharia (if they wish to which is not the case in many many Muslim countries anyway).

I mention it because I understand what he goes through, being mildly dyslexic/dispraxic myself. I find great strength in success stories like that, that someone could get so high despite having, as I did on Friday, to ask the bank teller to fill out a bank deposit form because I simply couldn’t, no matter how many times I tried. It makes you feel so stupid and can exclude you from public life sometimes, I hate going to banks, post offices and suchlike for that very reason. So, great to see it doesn’t stop you even in a writing based job like journalism 😀

And yes, of course he will, they all run crying back there, have a good bitch about it and then cower whenever they are invited back on the program to discuss whatever their problems with it were last time 😛

Yeah, Gaffney will eventually crawl back to Hannity and his bigoted Fox friends. He’ll play the victim card and whine about how poor innocent him got villified by the big bad liberal mainstream media, just like Palin.

^AC has mild dyslexia but that apparently hasn’t gotten in the way of his career. He’s one smart man!

Oh I like him, isn’t he dyslexic as well? He did well there, I bet Mr Gaffney will stick to FOX where he can’t be challenged from now on 😛

another one of Gaffney’s wild accusations at conservative Suhail Khan which my man AC totally rejected just recently.

AJ, again, I agree. I was in the UAE because my Dad refused point blank to work in Saudi for exactly the reasons you state, even though he was offered far more (we really wanted to go to Oman where my parents worked when they first married, it’s a great place and without all the shite of the other gulf states). I’ll go to Suadi for Hajj and Umra but that is far as my association with it goes and as far as I want it to go. And your feelings about the US I agree with, like the UK, people saying ‘get rid of the immmmmmiiiiiiggggggrrrrrannnnttttsss!!!’ when they don’t realize that not only would it cripple the NHS and the military (two things that said people are the first to defend), but about half of our brains would go too. Oxford & Cambridge are full of ‘immigrants’! I think these people want to go back to the 50’s, where everyone worked in the factory and went to the pub after… great, you do that but I’m going with the ‘immigrants’ 😀

sunnishine, I agree still, I got you in your first post and if you look at that link (it’s Jihadwatch so have a sick-bowl ready) then you’ll see what I mean, it’s about one of Obama’s advisers who happens to be a Muslim woman being accused of all the usual junk when *she* spoke up. So again, can’t win with them. I in fact find that it’s the women that *want* to speak, my project has over 80% women working with it and I’ve always found them to be the best writers! So speak speak speak! Of course, these ‘hearings’ will be nothing of the sort, it’s going to be McCarty all over again.

Khushboo, agreed, I have a bad habit of dragging the topic where I want to go 😛 Nice vid, how old is it?

Please watch this so we can finally move on!

Thank you Abdullah. I will look her up.
