Rush Limbaugh Endorses the Lord’s Resistance Army

I don’t have a really strong view on whether or not it’s advisable to dispatch a small number of US combat troops to help fight the Lord’s Resistance Army. My instinct is to be skeptical. I want to see less military intervention, not more. But Rush Limbaugh’s instinct is to embrace brutal murderers:

Now, up until today, most Americans have never heard of the combat Lord’s Resistance Army. And here we are at war with them. Have you ever heard of Lord’s Resistance Army, Dawn? How about you, Brian? Snerdley, have you? You never heard of Lord’s Resistance Army? Well, proves my contention, most Americans have never heard of it, and here we are at war with them. Lord’s Resistance Army are Christians. It means God. I was only kidding. Lord’s Resistance Army are Christians. They are fighting the Muslims in Sudan. And Obama has sent troops, United States troops to remove them from the battlefield, which means kill them. That’s what the lingo means, “to help regional forces remove from the battlefield,” meaning capture or kill. […]

Lord’s Resistance Army objectives. I have them here. “To remove dictatorship and stop the oppression of our people.” Now, again Lord’s Resistance Army is who Obama sent troops to help nations wipe out. The objectives of the Lord’s Resistance Army, what they’re trying to accomplish with their military action in these countries is the following: “To remove dictatorship and stop the oppression of our people; to fight for the immediate restoration of the competitive multiparty democracy in Uganda; to see an end to gross violation of human rights and dignity of Ugandans; to ensure the restoration of peace and security in Uganda, to ensure unity, sovereignty, and economic prosperity beneficial to all Ugandans, and to bring to an end the repressive policy of deliberate marginalization of groups of people who may not agree with the LRA ideology.” Those are the objectives of the group that we are fighting, or who are being fought and we are joining in the effort to remove them from the battlefield.

This post is illustrated with a photo of a man who survived a Lord’s Resistance Army machete attack and has the gashes on his head to prove it. You can read more about it courtesy of Human Rights Watch:

LRA forces attacked at least 10 villages, capturing, killing, and abducting hundreds of civilians, including women and children. The vast majority of those killed were adult men, whom LRA combatants first tied up and then hacked to death with machetes or crushed their skulls with axes and heavy wooden sticks. The dead include at least 13 women and 23 children, the youngest a 3-year-old girl who was burned to death. LRA combatants tied some of the victims to trees before crushing their skulls with axes.

The LRA also killed those they abducted who walked too slowly or tried to escape. Family members and local authorities later found bodies all along the LRA’s 105-kilometer journey through the Makombo area and the small town of Tapili. Witnesses interviewed by Human Rights Watch said that for days and weeks after the attack, this vast area was filled with the “stench of death.”

I think reasonable people can disagree as to whether or not chasing a relatively small band of depraved mass murderers around central africa is a reasonable thing for American military personel to be doing. But let’s make no mistake—these are depraved mass murderers. And yet Rush Limbaugh is pleased to welcome them as fellow Christian allies.

Whats ironic is most of the LRA’s victims have been christians. I’m not even sure if they ever even killed muslims. Whats clear though is the conflict around South Sudan, Uganda and the Congo are all ethnic, and have nothing to do with religion.

    • Ian Gould

Mustafa, one slight correction: most of the victims of the LRA are Christians, not Muslims which makes Limbaugh’s lies even more offensive.

    • Mustafa H.E.

Personally I’d like to see the United States not get so involved in other countries’ internal affairs and focus more on it’s own glaring economic and social problems…however, that DOES NOT mean I will support or sanction LRA thugs and serial murderers to go around and kill Muslims, or voice my support for Slobodan Milosevic and Serb ultra-nationalists in their mass-killings of Bosnians and Albanians (that Pamela Gellar and Michael Savage occasionally do on their mediums)

    • It does not matter to these right wing radicals like Limbaugh if the “good guys” tourture, rape, kill, burn, hack to death other people to death – so as long as the “good guys” call themselves “Christians.”

    • Al

Ah… Repugnant Ru$hBo and his Christian ethos… The double standard is stifling. Almost as much so as Obama’s claim that he’s ant-war/torture…

These guys are bad guys though. really bad guys… I just question USA involvement in yet ANOTHER armed conflict especially one so close to the horn of Africa. Can we say “potential airbase to launch more attacks on al-Shabab?” I knew you could-

I hope that Rush and many of his followers act on their beliefs by flying to Africa and taking up arms to defend their LRA brothers-in-Christ.

    • Farlowe

LRA is simply another bunch of murderous nutjobs.

    • You have to feel sorry for him.

      Then again hipocrisy… maybe not.

    • You have to feel sorry for him.

    • Franczeska

I’m an American and I first heard of the Lord’s Resistance Army some years ago.

    • Christian-friend

just as muslims condemn Al-Qaeda, I condemn this groups with all my heart.

    • Robert Spinster

I think another big part of the problem is the fact that the LRA is a Christian terrorist organization. Many Christians have no problem at all referring to Muslim terrorist groups and mentioning that they are Muslim. But when they hear that there are Christian terror groups, then they either get locked up and start to feel uncomfortable or get upset. How truly pathetic.

      Terrorism has no religion

@dawood yeah idiot “scholor” sheik yermami calls them “freedom fighters” I just hope that guy isnt allowed to reproduce, freedom fighers my ass my middle finger and v sign can be better represenatives of freedom then those guys.

    • Dawood

It’s not just the USA… anyone who knows refugees from the conflict clearly know the modus operandi of the LRA, and it’s absolutely shocking that anyone can speak like this about them.

    • Sir David ( Illuminati membership number 5:32) Warning Contains Irony

More evidence of the pitiful state of education in the USA The Lords Resistance Army are one of the most brutal evil terroist groups in the world they have terrorised North Uganda/south sudan for many many years . They have killed thousands raped and imprisoned even more They dont care if you are muslim or christian. They are a cult of evil and this twit defends them. He is obviously so stupid he cannot work out how to use any search engine on the internet . Is he allowed the vote ?

    • The LRA was designated as a Terrorist Organization by the State Dept just under 10 years ago: http://goo.gl/gBCy4 which if done by an Islamic Organization like CAIR before the organization like HAMAS was even designated as a terrorist organization is enough to brand them an “unindicted co-conspirator” forever, then I think this is clearly enough to lock Rush up in prison for many years, no?

    • People like Rush Limbaugh are hypocrites. They don’t care about the stated claim of Al Qaida, or any other group, the LRA that is a claimed Christian terrorist group, with very un-Christian activities should be taken at their word. Who does Rush think is responsible for the mass rapes and maiming in Congo and child abduction in Uganda?

  • mindy1

LRA uses child soldiers, is capable of rape and torture, and they are being endorsed by a man who calls himself a Christian?!?!?!?!
