Kahanist graffiti on Marseille mosque

Kahanist graffiti on Marseille mosque

The Collectif contre l’Islamophobie en France reports that graffiti has been sprayed on the wall of the Muslim Centre of Marseille by the extremist Jewish Defence League. The slogans, which read “Israel will live” and “JDL is watching”, are accompanied by a Star of David.

The CCIF points out that for several years it has called for Muslim places of worship to be protected as well as Jewish places of worship. When he was minister of the interior, Manuel Valls stated that this was under consideration. But nothing has been done since.

It should be added that the JDL leadership in Paris has denied that the organisation was involved. They argue that their members would be able to spell the name of Israel correctly. But then, judging by experience here in the UK, spelling has never been a strong point of the far right. Nor is this the first time that a French mosque has been defaced with Jewish Defence League graffiti.

Brilliant, brilliant analysis! Very good imformative views in New York politics too

Meir Kahane himself wanted to turn Israel into a theocracy ruled by Halacha, but most of his followers were attracted to his anti-Arabism rather than his theocratic ambitions.

It feels good to know that not all Israelis are inhuman killers.

As a matter of fact, French authorities are currently considering making the JDL french chapter illegal. The thing is, France being (for now) a functioning democracy, the executive branch of the government cannot proclaim an organization illegal by decree: it needs to have to present a watertight case to courts, so for now the interior ministry is accumulating evidences about the JDL illegal activities so it can successfully outlaw the far-right militia.

Nevertheless, I wouldn’t be surprised if, as others have noted, this one act was perpetrated by non-jewish far-rightists pretending to be the JDL: not only because of the misspelling, but because the french chapter of the JDL is a tiny group of 200-300 members top mostly active in and around Paris.

The Jewish Defence League is recognized in the US as a terrorist organization. Whether they represent Jewry is debatable as is the question of whether or not they carried out this ugly incident.

I accept this but even the kahanists could have worked out how to spell Isreal

Given the mis-spelling of “Israel”, I wonder if the JDL in this case are fall guys for a crime committed by white racists (who unlike Jews are noted for mostly being of low intelligence)?

Something similar happened in the 1970s and ’80s, when French racists set up a fake Zionist terrorist group called the “Masada Action and Defense Movement” which bombed a PLO bookstore in Paris, and hostels inhabited chiefly by Arab immigrants in Cannes and Nice.

I think this should also be brought to light.

Over 50 Israeli Soldiers Stand With Palestine

Any army is only as strong as its soldiers. Israel is now facing a problem in that its soldiers are starting to refuse to fight.

    In an oped written
by Israeli Reservist Yael Even Or, a list of over 50 reservists signed a
petition calling for an end of the conflict, and stated their refusal
to report for duty as required. Israel has called up tens of thousands of reservists for duty so far. While these 50 may not seem to matter much in the grand scheme, there might be far more sympathizers afoot.

After the attack, people sifted through the wreckage in order
to try and recover what was left of their lives. But, curiously, what
they found was something more unusual.

Mortar cartridges, but strangely intact and without the usual scorch
marks one would expect. Then the name stamped on the base, POCAL.

    Pocal Industries, Inc
is a company in Scranton, PA which manufactures practice mortar rounds.
Non-explosive, used for target practice, useless on the battlefield –
yet, here they are plain as day in Shejaiya, Gaza. The size and markings
denote it as being fired from an Israeli M66 mortar. With the army
laying siege to the city, at least one mortar appears to have been
firing what was, in effect, blanks.

It would not be hard to presuppose that some of the reservists who were too afraid of jail time
for refusing to serve instead turned to alternative ways to avoid
killing innocents. Paint an inert mortar green, pass it on as real,
unless you are carefully looking, not likely during the heat of
fighting, it would be easy to fire a practice round instead of a real
one. And some soldiers have said that they serve in order to show humanity to Palestinians instead of only the business end of an assault rifle.

Be it through conscientious objection or the substitution of dummy
weaponry for real, those who are standing against their own government
over the bitter fight in Gaza are brave men and women who deserve our
respect. To all who refuse to fight and kill in this conflict, there are
people alive today who might not be if you had not. For them, we all
owe you a debt of gratitude.

Also related to Palestine, words of solidarity from the Zapatistas. Beautiful words in my opinion.

Must watch excellent recent interview of Norman Finkelstein on Gaza, Hamas goals, International Law, Hamas “rockets”, Terror tunnels propaganda, and he outlines the upcoming defeat of the Palestinian people via The Piece Process™,

I suspect this is a job done by rightwing nutters ( Generation Identity would be my guess ) They would get a kick out of getting Jews and Muslims angry at each other.
