Speaking to +972, one local resident noted that this was not the first time settlers have set a mosque on fire. The man added that investigations into such incidents by Israeli authorities have brought no justice.

‚ÄúThis is a direct continuation of Israeli policy at Al Aqsa [Mosque],‚ÄĚ the resident of Al Mughayir said. ‚ÄúEvery mosque is in danger from the settlers.‚ÄĚ

Last month a mosque in the village of Aqraba was set alight in a similar attack.

Palestinian police and firefighters were on the scene.

Israeli media reported that Israeli police had not arrived at the scene to investigate due to clashes taking place nearby.

In northern Israel overnight Tuesday a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a centuries-old synagogue in the Palestinian town of Shfar’am (Shefa-’Amr). The flames did not penetrate the building.

Human rights organization Yesh Din this week released a data sheet on Israeli police failures in investigating crimes committed by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.

According to this data, in 2005-2014, a mere 7.4 percent of investigation files led to indictments of Israeli civilians suspected of attacking Palestinians and their property, reflecting a decline of approximately one percent in the rate of such indictments.

Over the past nine years, according to their data, only 7.4 percent of investigations ‚Äúled to indictments of Israeli civilians suspected of attacking Palestinians and their property.‚ÄĚ

In the past two years, following a spate of higher-than-usual settler attacks against Palestinians, the government ordered the creation of a special police investigatory unit dealing exclusively with what Israel describes as ‚Äúnationalistic crimes.‚ÄĚ

Since the creation of the Nationalistic Crimes Unit in the West Bank, ‚Äúthe failure rate of the Israel Police in properly investigating ideological offenses against Palestinians has in fact worsened,‚ÄĚ according to Yesh Din.

In 2013-2014, a statement by Yesh Din said, that nearly 90 percent of police investigations in the past two years were closed without indictment due to what the organization terms ‚Äúinvestigative failures.‚ÄĚ

    Oddly enough they have no idea that when they burn the Quran they are also burning the names of Prophets such as King David, Moses, Abraham, Issac and Jacob.

    Which reminds me of an interesting incident that happened to me during the Pastor Terry Jones Evangelical Rage flare up. A individual in my neighborhood walked up to me and told me he intended to burn the Quran as well. I told him that I will join him and begin burning the Quran with the chapter named Mary, it’s about Jesus, I told him. He didn’t burn the Quran after that.

    Wait…they are attacking synagogues ???

  • Friend of Bosnia

    They do. Such fanartics are convinced, or rather convince / delude themselves that even the worst atrocities can be justified if tehy serve to advance their cause.
    I for one am notg convinced that nurning or tearing down an Orthodox church or a synagoigue is helpfulo in any way because that won’t maqke the mosques that were blasted come back.
    Nor that raping or killing the enemy civilians will bring back our dead nor heal those women who had teh misfortune of falling in enemy hands.. SO I do not stand for tit-for-tat violence.
    On teh other hand , and I see no contradiction herre, I would liek very much to:
    see the man who instigated teh burning of the Sarajevo Library burned at the stake, or roasted alive;
    see those men who destroyed the 16th century mosques in various places in Bosia, and teh Stari Most, drawn and quartered;
    see those men who ran and who used the rape camp at for example Vilina Vlas impaled,
    and those who beat Bosniak prisoners at Omarska to death, stoned, or broken on the wheel.
    And of all of the above, thir corpses shoul√∂d be publicly exposed and then burnt and the ashes scattered so that no monument may be erected to their evil memory. Should they have died already their remains should be exhumed and burned, and their graves levelled. Were it up to me I’d institute a special command of the army just for that, to search all graveyards in Bosnia for the remains of those who worked for its destruction, and have them destroyed instead. The Damnatio memoriae they wanted to do to us should happen to them instead. And I see no contradiction, because I would not touch teh persons of those who haven’t Bosniak blood on theor hjands, nor their places of wiorship. And if hate speech comes out of them I’d punish teh preacher, not the building.
    This may seem cruel and medieval but I am convinced that such men (and women, there were female cetniks too) have forfeited all their rights on Earth, also that their memory should continue to exist.
    That’s the difference between decent and indecent human beings. I blame individuals. They blame whole peoples, nations, religious communities, and cultures.
    But I never have said I would turn the other cheek, I most definitely will not. Never. Even who asks me to already offends me and commits an act of enmity agianst me. Under certain circumstances it is necessary in order to survive, to shoot fiorst and ask questioons later..
    And this applies to the Palestinains too. I think they should set up armed guards areound their mosques 24/7. Lets see if those cowards will dare shoot at them. But I fear those zionist swine would then spin it that they have “murdered Jews.” However, for BiH this would be a viable option, at least in “RS”, for in the Bosniak areas the police could surely do that.; and in Australia or other places in the West where mosques have been attacked they could contract security services for that.
