Islamophobia in the heartland. Not so bright Neo-Nazis spray-painted hateful messages on a Hindu Temple and Cultural Center.

What’s that about Islamophobia having nothing to do with race again?

It’s not often you see a Lutheran pastor standing in front of a golden Ganesha. But that’s the scene as Christian, Sikh and Muslim leaders stand alongside Hindus in a united front against hate.

“The core value of all faiths and the core value of being an American is about love and care and tolerance,” says Reverend Paul Benz of the Faith Action Network.

Recent acts of vandalism at the Hindu Temple and Cultural Center and Skyview Junior High School in Bothell have members of the community concerned. The Hindu Temple was tagged with a swastika and the message “Get out.” Over at the junior high school a message read, “Get out Muslims.”

    Its difficult to gauge its right use at most times.

    For example the attack on the Sikh Temple the shooter wanted to kill Arabs so he killed Sikhs instead.

    Or the attack on the NYC subway system when a woman pushed Hindu man into the tracks of an oncoming train claiming she hated Arabs.

    The question now becomes were the attacks racist, Sikhophobic, Islamophobic or Hinduphobic.

    Michelle Malkin called for the interment of Muslims in concentration camps. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) along with Reps. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Thomas Rooney (R-Fla.) and Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.), recently sent letters to five federal agencies demanding investigations into infiltration by the Muslim Brotherhood.

    In the last few years, specifically anti-Muslim crimes have made up about 13 or 14 percent of hate crimes considered to be committed with a religious bias. That amounts to nearly 100 anti-Islam hate crimes each year from 2011 to 2013, according to FBI data.

    In August 2012 SIOA generated media publicity by sponsoring billboards in New York subway stations claiming there had been 19,250 terrorist attacks by Muslims since 9/11.

    If you could list columnist that called for putting Hindus in concentration camps and list politicians that want government agencies investigate for infiltration by Hinduvta and list organizations that have taken out advertising calling Hindus uncivilized and list active anti-Hindu organizations in Pakistan and Bangladesh you will make a point that the discrimination faced by Hindus is much more severe in Pakistan and Bangladesh than it discrimination faced by Muslims in the US.

    I’m just pointing to this part of the article:

    I very frequently see “Islamophobia” and “racist” labels atttributed to people who did nothing more than make rational critique of the ideology. Sam Harris is a great example because he’s very famously labeled these things and nothing in what he does or says really indicates racism or bigotry.

    The impression I got was that this article was trying to imply with that sentence that I quoted that the “Islamophobes” aka people who criticize Islam are merely racists and are trying to use this incident as support for that dubious claim.

    Probably close to 98 percent of the profiles on here are set to private and up until very recently, so was yours so I still don’t see the relevance in you bringing that up.

    This is the first time I’ve used Disqus with any regularity so it is now the first time I bothered personalizing the settings. If you want to keep telling yourself I did it for any significant reason that you invent you can feel free to do so, but much like your other many wrong assumptions, I’m just going to laugh at it.

    Also you can lie to everyone here and tell them your profile wasn’t set to private before but you and I both know you lie so it doesn’t really matter.

    Hmmmm….. I’d have to disagree there. Just because the principle of discrimination was there doesn’t give ground to equate the two because what happened in the US was several orders of magnitude less severe. So less severe I see them as barely comparable.

    Exactly SSM. He calls ME “extremist” too and has yet to answer me when I asked him several times to justify that claim. As far as I can tell, “extremist” is just what he calls anyone who disagrees with him, so yes, when he says “Hindu extremists” he’s most likely referring to all Hindus.

    None of my grand kids have ever lived in an era before the microwave, cell phones, XBox, Internet or DVDs. None of them knows how to play stick ball, kick the can or Simon Says. None of them understands why someone should beat up the kid who came back after the Summer holidays wearing glasses.

    Civilization has completely ruined them.

    Indians aren’t a race, they are a nationality. Therefore the correct term would be “prejudice” or “discriminatory”.

    However the word “racism” is a hot button word, it pulls at emotional strings much the same way “antisemitic” or “terrorist” does.

    In 1951 Pakistan had a 2% Hindu population by 1997, the percentage of Hindus has dropped to 1.6% in Pakistan.

    The Hindu percentage decline of the total Pakistani population is related to the permanent settlement of over 1.7 million Muslim Afghan refugees in Pakistan since the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979.

    The Muslim population in India has increased also due to Muslim refugees escaping persecution from Burma and Sri Lanka and a wave of lower caste Hindus converting to Islam.

    The Hindu population in Bangladesh was 13.5%. In 1971, during the Liberation War of Bangladesh from Pakistan a significant portion of the middle-class Hindu population left. Hindus were at around 9.2% of the population in 2001.

    The decline of the Hindu population in Pakistan and Bangladesh had more to do with wars than with people running around with torches and pitch forks chasing Hindus out of the country.

    Were Muslims discriminating against Hindus after that wars, well yes. No different then certain Christians in the West discriminating against Muslims after 911 happened.

    Well Pakistanis and Bangladeshi can be Hindus as well. Those are nationalities. Hinduism is a religion.
