How to Identify a Loon-The Nuclear Card

Nuclear_Holocaust

Nuclear Holocaust

Loons come in many shapes and sizes but you can usually identify them because they utter stark raving mad things that normal mainstream people would never say and would likely find objectionable.  One of those things that might make you flinch is when someone calls for the application of nuclear weapons upon a whole populace or nation.

In a previous post I exposed Joe Kaufman’s wish to launch nukes onto the Middle East, and how he wonders ” if we got nukes, why aren’t we using them?”  This is not an isolated incident but in fact is part of a larger trend that links many of the Islamophobes and instigators of anti-Muslim agitation.

In the recent presidential race, former Republican Representative Tom Tancredo from Colorado was on the record stating,

If it is up to me, we are going to explain that an attack on this homeland of that nature would be followed by an attack on the holy sites in Mecca and Medina. Because that’s the only thing I can think of that might deter somebody from doing what they otherwise might do.

Does Tancredo believe that instead of emboldening terrorists and pouring fuel on the fires of conflict, a strike on the holy places of a quarter of the world’s population would be a “deterrence?”  Can someone from Colorado talk to Tancredo and convince him to go on the same quest as the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz?

Robert Spencer, the self-described “Islamic expert” wrote in his article Nuke Mecca? Nope that he believes the only reason bombing Mecca wouldn’t be a good idea is because it would become

[a] source of spirit, not of dispirit. The jihadists would have yet another injury to add to their litany of grievances.

Why can’t Spencer who easily proclaims that bombing Mecca is wrong for strategic reasons not come out and denounce the idea of bombing close to a quarter of humanity’s most holiest site for moral reasons? Maybe because Spencer wouldn’t mind seeing Mecca bombed.

He grudgingly suggests that due to the exigencies of Realpolitik we can’t do it because it will become a source of “spirit for the Jihadists” but without condemning it he leaves the possibility that we might be capable of doing it in the future.  He never stops to consider that this might anger more than just the Jihadists but also every single Muslim in the world.

One must ask Spencer how he would feel if someone proposed that the only reason bombing the Vatican might not be a good idea is because it will become a source of spirit for extremist Catholics? Wouldn’t he think that Catholics of all stripes and shades would be angered and not just the extremists targeted amongst them?

Michael Savage

Michael Savage

In one of the most recent episodes of using the nuclear card we have Michael Savage echoing Kaufman by asking on his radio show the Savage Nation, “if we got nukes, why aren’t we using them, what are they good for?”

CALLER: We in the Western world and the United States — I don’t see how we’re gonna win this, because we do not have the guts, we don’t have the stomach to do the things it takes to be violent enough, to fight fire with fire and give these — I mean, basically, we need to exterminate them like rats, and we’re so worried about –

SAVAGE: Yeah, we know where they’re coming from, we know they’re coming out of the — the training, at least, is probably coming out of the area where Osama bin Laden is hiding. If we can believe our intelligence agencies — of course, we have no real knowledge as to whether they’re really intelligent intelligence agencies — they’re in the tribal areas of western Pakistan. What the heck do we have nuclear weapons for? What are tactical nuclear weapons for but to wipe out an enemy? The enemy lives there — kill them and their families, and show them that the terror they inflict on the West will come home to roost and will be inflicted on them. Why must we sit here waiting for the New York subways to go up in flames?

CALLER: Yes, sir, but what are we gonna do? Instead of what you just said, what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna cut our nuclear arsenal.

[...]

SAVAGE: The only way to defend ourselves against these fanatic Islamists is with strength. Not with hand-wringing, not with the United Nations, but with a strong and swift attack on the tribal regions of western Pakistan. Now, I will not quibble with you as to whether they should be with nuclear — that is, tactical nuclear weapons, which are limited in their scope and limited in their power — or with cluster bombs or with weapons I’m not even aware of. But there’s no question that entire region needs to be annihilated and stripped off the earth.

Such statements are the logical end of the extremist thought of the anti-Muslim crowd and one wonders considering the evidence how prevalent this apocalyptic call is amongst those who think nuking countries, regions and holy places is a swell idea.

@Muhammad Abu Jahl Did you actually READ the article, or did you look at it and say “It disagrees with what I think. WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!”? We have refuted such claims as you are making over and over and over again on Loonwatch: I would like to direct you here.

@ George Carty I agree, Savage’s rhetoric needs to be stopped, but please, do not use language like “he needs to be hanged”. It only hands the loons more ammo to use against us.

To be honest, I’d really like to see them try.

Haven’t these idiots ever heard of MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction), launching a nuke is as simple as launching any ordenary missile, Launching a nuclear attack on any city on earth will lead to a nuclear holocaust killing billions and ending civilization as we know it.

yet these inbred morons would cause the extinction of the human race to satisfy their own bigoted fantasy, they will get rid of muslims and 99% of the human race

lets just prey that these people are never voted into any high office, or become leaders incharge of the worlds nuclear arsenal

This is an aptly-named site. If you want to watch loons, this is the place to be.

You’re defending — presumably out of ignorance — an ideology which requires the slavery or slaughter of all who refuse the “invitation” to convert.

    You’re insane.

    Dear Editor

The Oslo killer who committed the Oslo massacre is a Neoconservative Extremist. His manifesto which describes the rational for his actions references extreme neoconservative theorists and websites which promote irrational hatred and fear of Muslims. The Oslo killer’s belief that Muslim immigration is a mortal threat to western culture is a common neoconservative ideology. Neoconservative extremists like the Oslo killer believe that Muslims will continue to immigrate and breed until they outnumber non-Muslims in western nations. When that happens Muslims will use democratic means to impose Sharia law and enslave non-believers into Dhimmitude. Extreme neoconservative ideology promotes the idea that western nations must protect themselves from the Muslim cultural threat through forced assimilation, banning Muslim immigration and cultural isolation. Based on this extreme neoconservative ideology, the Oslo killer concluded the real enemy to Norwegian culture aren’t Muslims who can’t help being what they are. The real threat are Norway’s political leaders who embrace multiculturalism and are blind to the threat posed by Western Islamization. The Oslo killer’s extreme neoconservative ideology regarding the Muslim threat to Norwegian culture was his primary motivation to attack and kill as many Norwegian politicians and members of their families as possible. Since the Oslo killer’s extreme neoconservative ideology was the primary motivation for his atrocity he is correctly identified as a neoconservative extremist. Other examples of neoconservative extremism include the gunman who attempted to assassinate US House of Representative member Gabrielle Giffords and every website and person named in the Oslo killer’s manifest which promotes irrational fear and hatred and illegally incites violence.

I wrote the above letter to correct the erroneous terminology regarding the classification of Anders Behring Breivik as a Christian or right wing extremist. Beviek was not a religious person, therefore the phrase “religious extremist” is inaccurate. The term “right wing extremist” is too imprecise. Breivek is a very specific type of right wing extremist in the way that Muslim extremist is a specific type religious extremist. I could have used the term Neoconservative Fundamentalist but that would imply all neoconservatives are fundamentally violent extremists like Breivik…. That would be as wrong as the term Muslim Fundamentalists to describe Muslim extremists who have committed similar atrocities as Brevik.

I base my argument that the Oslo killer who committed the Oslo massacre is a Neoconservative Extremist on his manifesto which which describes the rational for his actions. The manifest references extreme neoconservative theorists and websites which promote irrational hatred and fear of Muslims. The Oslo killer’s belief that Muslim immigration is a mortal threat to western culture is a common neoconservative ideology. Neoconservative extremists like the Oslo killer believe that Muslims will continue to immigrate and breed until they outnumber non-Muslims in western nations is an extreme and common neoconservative ideology. That Muslims will use democratic means to impose Sharia law and enslave non-believers into Dhimmitude ia another extreme neoconservative ideology.

Since Breivik’s extreme neoconservative ideology was the primary motivation for his attack he is correctly identified as a neoconservative extremist.

    Other example of neoconservative extremism:

Jared Lee Loughner who attempted to assassinate US House of Representative member Gabrielle Giffords.

Every neoconservative and website referenced in the Oslo killer’s manifest which promoted irrational hatred and fear of Muslims:

    Names:
Robert Spencer, Hugh Fitzgerald, Aluma Dankowitz, Bat Ye’or, Pamela Geller, Bernard Lewis, Daniel Pipes…

    Websites:
    AmericanThinker.com, jihadwatch.org, memri.org, faithfreedom.org, theReligionOfPeace.com, LittleGreenFootballs.com…

Some of these sources, may have incited violence. Some still might. (IMO) Its even possible that some people who inspired the Oslo killer could be charged with inciting violence in connection with the Oslo massacre. Some neoconservative extremists influenced by these neoconservative sources and the Oslo killer’s manifest which has gone viral on the internet are a threat to public safety.

I’m not even sure I want my letter published, since I don’t want to become a neoconservative target. I’d prefer that some editor somewhere have the guts to use the phrase “neoconservative extremist” or “neoconservative fundamentalist” to describe Breivik in an editorial.

    ———-

What terror in the West? The way the guy is talking as if Afghanistan and Iraq invaded USA rather than vice versa. I am pretty sure that more terror has been inflicted on Muslims in the past ten years than on Americans. Just look at the stats.

For every “fanatic Islamist”, there is a “fanatic Americanist” like Mr Weiner.

A word about Michael Savage’s ‘degree’… it’s in ethnobotany. Apparently he went to the South Pacific for some years to study how people use plants. Most likely, he was using it as an excuse to sample drugs like kava. That’s why he changed his name to Savage too. Apparently it was a European who introduced guns to (IIRC) Tahiti.

Which really says a lot about him. Spoiled rich kid. Went to a fairly liberal college. Experimented with drugs. And then turned around and became a hardcore right-wing racist. Of course, he is smart enough to know he can get away with saying these things about Muslims right now, and Latinos with the whole illegal immigration debate. But if he made the same sort of quotes about blacks, the NAACP would be all over him. Heck, he’d get pulled off the air by his own station.

It’s all about clout and special interest groups. I sometimes wonder if Savage is even really Jewish, because a disturbing amount of his rants sound like they were ripped straight from a right wing Christian fundie. Then again, that is also his core audience, so make of that what you will.

  • Openminded

The funny thing with problems is the way we come about solutions. Iran is funding a nuclear energy program which can’t be cheap, plans for a hundred million dollar Mosque are in the making, hints of air strikes on Iran from the United States and Israel linger. This idea has to be the most expensive of all, not just monetarily but also in death tolls and destruction. Not to mention an obvious rise in gas prices.
Or everyone focus together on helping the victims of the floods in Pakistan and make the World a better place for you and me to live in.

Amazing to what extent these loons will go to get some headlines! I am a “Mooslim” and am proud to see such just loving people as you. Such a day will not come, insha Allah. A day the Holy Cities get nuked. That will be the end of the world as we know. If such a thing was ever done, every Muslim will rise in arms..Only a Mooslim knows how much we love our Prophet and the Holy places.

  • George Carty

Michael Savage deserves hanging — preferably using the same gallows that was used to hang Julius Streicher. IMHO anyone who openly advocates genocide in the mass media is too dangerous.

I wonder though if some of the other “nuke Mecca” types are under the delusion that if Mecca was nuked, all the world’s fundamentalist mullahs would scream “NOOOOOOOOOOOO!” as they crumbled into dust, while the rest of the world’s Muslims shook their heads, said in unison “What the hell were we thinking?” and then proceeded to open nightclubs, gay bars and strip clubs for Western tourists?

The Romans razed the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. Did Judaism die?

Garo, there’s no way the Israelis would give up their nuclear weapons even if everyone else disarmed. The Israeli-Hezbollah war in 2006 showed that Arab armed forces aren’t anything like as useless as they were in the ’60s and ’70s. Before long the right-wing Zionists will conclude that their nukes are the only things standing between the Arabs and their dream of Holocaust II.

  • Garo

It is hard to believe that Mr. Michael Weiner(Savage)holds a Doctoral degree of any kind and talks of nuking an entire population because of another insane person like him, called Osam bin Laden, presumably hides there. UNREAL!

Self-respecting Americans with the cooperation of the self-respecting human
beings around the globe should start pushing their governments to start calling for a world totally and completely free of nuclear weapons before such weapons fall in the hands of evils like Michael Weiner(Savage)and Osama bin Laden. The United Nations and its capable technical agencies can be used as the tools to achieve that end effectively. All what the people of the world need governments to governments POLITICAL WILLS to have a world free of nukes for our children and grand children.

Someone should inform Mr Weiner that Jerusalem is also a “holy city”. Lets see if he has the fortitude to talk about nuking that one.

  • Sir-Mex-A-Lot

I’m Catholic and I wouldn’t want the Vatican to be bombed. These dudes that talk about using nuclear bombs on Muslim holy sites are insane, have no values and no morals. Their belligerent babble attempts to evoke jingoism. I’m a true patriot, and I’ll slap Michael Weiner silly if I ever see him on the streets. Respect the Middle East. Respect All Holy Sites.

  • anonymous

Savage real name is Michael Weiner, which begs the question, why you tryin act savage if you a wiener. This macho wanna-be tough guy wouldn’t last a minute in the Marines.

It’s quite a strange odyssey for someone who used to be Ginsburg’s gay lover to now being some tough testostorone filled super radio man who bashes everybody like he’s got somethin on them.
