Muslim Graves Desecrated by Nazis
Vandals have targeted Muslim graves in Manchester again. (hat tip: Islamophobia-Watch)
Racist Yobs Vandalize Muslim Graves
RACIST vandals have targeted Muslim graves at a south Manchester cemetery for a third time.
Sometime between 4pm on Friday 20 November and 9am on Monday 23 November unknown offenders pushed over 20 headstones at the Southern Cemetery on Barlow Moor Road.
The vandalism is being treated as racially motivated as only a Muslim section of graves were targeted.
On 29 September 2009, 26 Muslim headstones were vandalised and on 2 November 2009, 27 were similarly targeted.
Police are now appealing to anyone who has information to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Eckersley said: “It is an absolute disgrace that whoever is responsible thinks it acceptable to repeatedly target the graves of loved ones.
“The repeated nature of these attacks and the fact the offenders are only targeting Muslim graves means we are treating this as a hate crime.
“This sort of mindless, racist behaviour must be utterly condemned and I’m sure the whole community will be outraged, that is why I want to reassure them, and in particular the families affected that we are doing all we can to catch the culprits.
“We have increased our patrols in the cemetery and surrounding area and I ask people using the cemetery to be vigilant and report anyone causing damage to the graves or acting suspiciously.
“To those who know who is responsible or have been told who is responsible I would like to ask how you would feel if someone damaged a grave of one of your loved ones and how hurt or upset that would make you.
“Please do the right thing, tell us what you know and help us put a stop to this.”
Anyone with information should call Greater Manchester Police on 0161 856 6151 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

The irony of the picture…

I was waiting for someone to bring up the ‘Islam isn’t a race’ thing up! Predictable!
Islam has been racialised….it is primarily connected to certain races in the US and UK…in England most Muslims are South Asian and therefore ‘Paki’ and ‘terrorist’ are interchangeable insults to throw at us…
PLus…we are seen and discussed as one homogenous group and therefore, by all intents and purposes a race of people…

“Islam has been racialised.”
By idiots trying to paint criticism of islam as racism sure, however anti-muslim bigots don’t care about race, they want to deport muslims (irregardless of skin color), they want the quran banned which obviously affects muslims from different racial backgrounds, they want the hijab taxed with no exception for any race. In other words they hate all muslims; their skin color doesn’t matter to them (which is why Spencer supports Trifkovic and why anti-muslim sites love Serb war criminals).
“we are seen and discussed as one homogenous group and therefore, by all intents and purposes a race of people”
Except that muslim are not a race since there are no shortage white (Kurds, Persians, Assyrians, Labanese, Syrians etc.) muslims.

Your quite right, Islam isn’t a race, so when are they going to start calling acts of violence against Muslims for being Muslims a religious hate crime and not a racial hate crime? I appreciate that in the UK, many Muslims are of South Asian origin, but we also have significant number of Black, Semitic and increasingly White Muslim populations. I find it offensive every time the use of race is used, we are not all South Asian.

I know all Muslims are not of the same race, but race is tied up in the hatred of Muslims too….its an issue of racism, xenophobia and anti-Muslim bigotry.
From personal experience…those that once called us Pakis now call us terrorists, not liking Muslims is a more acceptable form of prejudice whilst overt racism is not.
Hating white Muslims is also because they are associated to being Arabised, and having rejected their race…their whiteness itself comes into question and since Poles are considered a different race in the UK by many people, despite only being identified as Polish when they speak its a case of being limiting and excluding based on a number of prejudices and ignorant ideas…

Also if you’re talking about UK anti-muslim bigotry the same EDL morons are actually bigoted against other European ethnic groups; I looked at a few EDL groups on FB and found countless anti-Irish comments. While I have no doubt that there are bigots who focus on Arabs the fact is that most anti-muslim bigots hate all muslims irregardless of skin color.
“Hating white Muslims is also because they are associated to being Arabised, and having rejected their race.”
I didn’t just mean white muslim converts I was thinking more of Kurds, Circassians and other white middle eastern ethnic groups who are traditionally muslim.

“Except that muslim are not a race since there are no shortage white (Kurds, Persians, Assyrians, Labanese, Syrians etc.) muslims”
You’re partially right, but all these races are interchangeable with Muslim whereas Norwegian isnt. In France, they dont count Muslims they count the Number of Arabs/North Africans and automatically assume all of them to be Muslim (Its illegal to ask the respondent’s religion on a census). Similarly, if a Turk or a Pakistan does something bad (any crime really) he becomes a “Muslim” criminal. A white guy in Europe will never be associated (stygmatized) with Islam, a Pakistan/Arab looking man is automatically a Muslim.
Its also interesting that the anti-Muslim crowd will scream that Islam is not a race while supporting profiling measures which rely to a significant extent on race/nationality.
