The anti-Muslim movement, spearheaded by Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller has been ratcheting up the rhetoric against Islam and Muslims. Painting Muslims as an evil fifth column stealthily attempting to subvert our freedoms and impose a draconian totalitarian government upon us.

Police: Cab Driver Stabbed By Passenger Who Asked “Are You Muslim?”
As of late Tuesday, no charges had been filed.
Both the driver and the passenger were taken to Bellevue Hospital.

A city cab driver is in the hospital after being stabbed by a passenger who allegedly asked if he was Muslim, police tell NY1.
Investigators with the New York City Police Department say it all began Monday night when a 21-year-old man hailed a cab at 24th Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan.
Police say the passenger asked the driver, “Are you Muslim?” When the driver said yes the passenger pulled a knife and slashed him in the throat, arm and lip.
The 43-year-old driver was able to lock the passenger in the back of the cab and call 911.

Another quote from Imam Rauf-I am not debating whether the quote is tue, but I am wondering about the context. He is quoted as saying that “Americans have more Muslim blood on their hands than Al-queda has non muslim blood on it’s hands” i am not changing my mind about the project, I still think it’s a good idea, I just want to make sure I am supporting the right thing that is all, and I like hearing the context of these quotes, as the news never provides the context for these quotes. Sorry if I sound paranoid, I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing by supporting the project.

@mindy1, I cant find a source for that quote and thus can’t find the context. After the shirley sherrod scandal, we should all realize that context means everything. However, I don’t see how this on its face is controversial. The death toll in Iraq is 6-600x as big as the death toll on 9/11. (Bush said 30,000 Iraqis died, which is a years-old figure and far too low, while under 5,000 people died on 9/11)
Check the context, maybe he he was trying to make the case, as he often does, that injustice does not defeat injustice, and two wrongs don’t make a right.

This man represents all the people who are critical of the Islamic center at ground zero. They are all prone to violence eventually because of their hateful and intolerant ideology. They should not be allowed to enter any cabs around that site. And the books of Geller and Spencer should be burned. But I don’t hate these people. I just hate their thoughts and beliefs.

I don’t think stating that fact (yes, fact) means one is a cheerleader for the crimes of Al-Qaeda. He was simply giving context to the ongoing violence and what perpetuates it. Any foreign policy expert – including a goodly number of high ranking American ones would agree with him – and go further than he has. See: Michael Scheuer

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf didn’t say anything wrong. Muslims around the world have to deal with so much everyday from American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, to the Israelis in Palestine and the American Drone Attacks on civilians in Pakistan.
Muslims have been enduring 9/11′s for a while now. Their countries have become ground zeros.
And while we can have minutes of silence to remember the dead in 9/11 and 7/7, there isn’t enough time in the world to remember the people killed by America and her allies.
