Bryan Fischer Says Muslims Don’t Have First Amendment Rights

Bryan Fischer is a loony anti-Muslim bigot

The anti-Muslim rhetoric continues to increase amongst the right-wing.

Talking Points Memo: Bryan Fischer: Muslims Have No First Amendment Rights by Jillian Rayfield

Bryan Fischer, the “Director of Issues Analysis” for the social conservative group the American Family Association, says that when it comes to Islam, the First Amendment is a privilege, not a right. “Islam has no fundamental First Amendment claims, for the simple reason that it was not written to protect the religion of Islam,” Fischer wrote today.

“The First Amendment was written by the Founders to protect the free exercise of Christianity. They were making no effort to give special protections to Islam. Quite the contrary,” Fischer wrote on his Renew America blog.

He continued:

Islam has no fundamental First Amendment claims, for the simple reason that it was not written to protect the religion of Islam. Islam is entitled only to the religious liberty we extend to it out of courtesy. While there certainly ought to be a presumption of religious liberty for non-Christian religious traditions in America, the Founders were not writing a suicide pact when they wrote the First Amendment.

Fischer took it a step further, calling Islam a “treasonous ideology” and adding that “from a constitutional point of view, Muslims have no First Amendment right to build mosques in America. They have that privilege at the moment, but it is a privilege that can be revoked.”

Fischer, also known for his frequent anti-gay, anti-bear rhetoric, has previously called for the U.S. to have “no more mosques, period,” because “every single mosque is a potential terror training center or recruitment center for jihad.” He’s also suggested that we should “handle Muslims just like we handle neo-Nazis.”

And his show is a frequent stomping ground for conservative politicians, including potential 2012 presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, and actual 2012 candidate Tim Pawlenty.

the film at least from the trailer is very well looks like a mixture of 24, and the left behind films and considering it is advertised as a film muslims dont want you to see this might be a favorite of spencer and friends considering evil bad muslims might be the main bad guys and anyone who doesn’t think that all muslims are evil bad will be there unwitting henchmen.

Wow. That is one crazy film. Has Bob bought his tickets?

Thanks for the link. Hagee has an unhealthy obsession with Israel (unhealthy in that every single Muslim can be killed if they do not fully embrace Israel without question) has come to this. And he doesn’t really care about Jews either. He opined that Hitler was a hunter sent by God to send the Jews to Israel? Damn, that is messed up.

Regarding the movie trailer I posted, here’s something the twits posted on their official Twitter account.

“Call FOX NEWS and tell them to look up Jerusalem Countdown…the movie that muslims don’t want you to see!”

^Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson weren’t even Christians.

I meant to mention that, and specifically that they were deists.

“The First Amendment was written by the Founders to protect the free exercise of Christianity. They were making no effort to give special protections to Islam.”

    – Thus, the “America is a Christian nation” rhetoric, coupled with the typical anti-Islam/anti-Muslim bigotry, appears once again, from… (surprise, surprise) another right-wing Christian conservative; Bryan Fischer (easy to see where his bias is). This is the same Bryan Fischer who believes that the European colonization of North America against the Native Americans was legally and morally justified, so it’s not all that surprising that he would say something as outrageous as this. However, his strong bias on these issues, precludes his statements on them from being objective.

^b/c he talked about Muslims and we don’t really count. 🙁
