Jessica Mokdad "loved Islam" according to her parents.
Shameless Pamela Geller is stooping to the lowest of the low. Using the name of Jessica Mokdad, a girl murdered by her “obsessed” and “monstrous” stepfather to line her pocket book and further the mass hysterical drive against Islam and Muslims.
This article while doing an O.K. job of reporting on the story gives Geller a free pass on her lunacy. What the hell is wrong with news outlets? Can’t they do a basic Google search? This woman, Geller, is a moonbat whose positions are consistently against human rights and basic freedoms, why is she not being called out for it below?
Geller also has a track record of inventing and attributing unrelated crimes to Islam and Muslims! You would think that FACT would make it into the story.
Listen Fox News Detroit: Just because someone declares themselves to be a defender of human rights does not make them one. Investigate their BACKGROUND!! Quit amplifying the voices of loons and bigots who have done nothing to help the cause of human rights and instead work only to add insult to injury by demeaning grieving families.

Slain Woman’s Name on anti-Muslim Conference Upsets Her Family

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) — It’s been almost ten months since Jessica Mokdad’s murder. She was just 20 years old.
“It’s like still in disbelief,” said Mohammed Mokdad, her father.
Jessica’s murder made international headlines. She left Minnesota to escape an allegedly physically and mentally abusive stepfather, but in April of 2011, her stepfather, Rahim Alfatlawi, drove from Minnesota to her grandmother’s Warren home and shot her in the head.
Her family calls it an awful tragedy, but others are calling it an honor killing.
“We know that this is a practice under Islamic law. The honor killing is the final act. People know very little of the terror … that these girls live under,” said Pamela Geller.
She is the head of Stop the Islamization of America. Geller is hosting a conference on the anniversary of Jessica’s death in Dearborn. It’s called the Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference.
“We cannot sanction this gendercide. We cannot sanction the diminishment and dehumanization of women. We must speak up,” Geller said.
We asked Jessica’s stepmother, Cassandra Mokdad, whether her murder was an honor killing.
“Absolutely it was not,” she said.
She told us this disgusting act had nothing to do with Islam, a religion she said Jessica practiced proudly.
“It was nothing about religion or anything. It was just about a sick human being,” Mohammed Mokdad said.
“He wanted to have a relationship with Jessica as more than her stepfather. He wanted to have a more romantic relationship with her,” Cassandra Mokdad explained.
Even the Macomb County Prosecutor on the case said Alfatlawi murdered Jessica because he was obsessed with her, not the religion, and Jessica’s family wants her name taken off the conference.
“She’s using Jessica as her poster child for anti-Islam,” said Cassandra Mokdad.
“What gulls me is that there is this prohibition on discussing it and the ideology that inspires honor killings,” Geller explained.
She said this conference will happen and the name won’t be changed.
“We’re definitely going to have this conference and it will not be stopped. Their directing their barbs at me. I didn’t kill Jessica. I’m trying to save the next girl. They should be helping me save the next girl,” said Geller.
“Absolutely I’ll go. I won’t let her sit there and misuse Jessica’s name, and I will let her know exactly how I feel,” Cassandra Mokdad told us.
The conference will be held at the Hyatt in Dearborn at the end of April.

Islamophobes typically hide behind rhetoric that sounds very similar to how when rights groups condemn something. For instance Geller will take the position of an individual who has sympathy for women, to ‘save’ them from Islamic oppression. Doing this she can then claim the higher ground for herself by making it seem that her hateful agenda is actually something that is good. In this way- by masking themselves as concerned and champions for rights, Islamophobes are able to get away with much, such as proposing and implementing hateful legislation, spewing cruel hateful and oftentimes genocidal rhetoric, and other loony activities that they show such a proclivity towards.

What Pam Geller is doing here is most dishonourable to the memory of this young lady.
However, using the child’s name without the permission of her family, and using it to further the propaganga against what the child believed is most disturbing.
It goes to show how much respect Pam Geller and the rest of them have for Muslim people. They hate us, therefore dont have to respect our wishes. They would hate the child if she were alive, simply because she was Muslimah.
This is a cause I would be willing to take on, to get the child’s name taken from the propaganda fest of these purveyors of hate.

SEATTLE (Reuters) – The U.S. Army dismissed all charges against the last of five soldiers to face court-martial in the slaying of unarmed Afghan civilians, according to a statement issued on Friday by his home base near Tacoma, Washington.
Army Specialist Michael Wagnon, who was released from military detention and placed under home confinement in April, had been charged with premeditated murder in the death of a villager in Afghanistan during a tour of duty in February 2010.
“As of right now, he’s pretty much a free man,” said Lieutenant Colonel Gary Dangerfield, a spokesman for Joint Base Lewis-McChord. “He is still in the Army but a free man.”
The dismissal of the case against Wagnon brought to an abrupt end the Army’s prosecution of the most egregious atrocities that U.S. military personnel have been accused of committing during a decade of war in Afghanistan.
Five members of the infantry unit formerly known as the 5th Stryker Brigade were charged with killing Afghan civilians in cold blood in attacks that were staged to look like legitimate combat engagements. Seven others were charged with lesser offenses in a case that began as an investigation into rampant hashish abuse in the unit.
Wagnon was the last to face court-martial.
Dangerfield would not say why the charges were dropped, and a statement from the base said only that the move was “in the interest of justice.”

I am a little confused about this whole story…what about the original statements from police saying the stepdad said he did it because he thought Jessica was too Westernized? Can someone explain who Cassandra Mokdad is as well…is she Jessica’s biological father’s current wife? She can’t be Jessica’s mom, because her myspace says she’s 24–although she looks older. What has Jessica’s biological mother (who was married to the stepdad I assume) said about this? She would be in the best position to comment.
This whole thing is very weird. On the one hand, you got half of the pictures of Jessica in a hijab (+1 against Geller), and the rest of them are of her flaunting her breasts (+1 for Geller–although I don’t know if Jessica published those pics or if it was just her friends…which is very disrespectful). The Cassandra mom is going on about getting drunk, partying, and also is flaunting her breasts, yet acting as if her and the daughter are all pious Muslims.
So let’s break it down:
1. Geller’s version: daughter wanted to leave Islam or her strict Muslim stepdad, so she ran away to her biological father, who is married to Cassandra Mokdad. From all I’ve seen, they’re obviously not terribly pious Muslims, so this could be a possibility. Stepdad kills Jessica for dishonoring the family…even though she’s not his daughter and is old enough that if was so upset with her, he could of just kicked her out of the house.
2. More likely version: The stepdad wants to have a sexual relationship with Jessica. Not hard to believe; she’s attractive, of age, and it’s not uncommon for stepdads to abuse their step daughters. Jessica informs Cassandra of her plan to move back in with her biological father. Jessica runs away. The stepdad–feeling angry and rejected–kills Jessica.
I can see why people are buying into Geller’s version, but in all likelihood, she was just trying to escape a stepdad that wanted to have sex with her.

I feel like a lot is left out of this account. Wasn’t this widely reported in the news at the time as an honor killing, and the fact that the stepfather was enraged that she didn’t wear a hijib? Didn’t other law enforcement people say this was an honor killing. Did the mother-in-law condone her husbands alleged multi state booty call for stepdaughter?
As to the word of a mother in law in these cases, well I don’t need to give my opinion, I can mention that other equally credible mother in law, Tooba Mohammad Yahya, who is doing 25 years for the honor killing death of the Shafia sisters.
If I were Loonwatch I’d give up on this one and concentrate instead on bringing your peculiar brand of spin to the article coming out in Newsweek about the persecution of Christiams by Muslims. You will need to work overtime on this one.

I actually sat down to finish another article about the Shafia trial when I saw your comment. We’re not going to “give up” on discussing honor killings, and there’s no reason we should.
As for the persecution of Christians in Muslim lands, I don’t know what you mean by “spin.” We’ve never justified the persecution of Christians or other religious minorities under any circumstances.

Pamela Geller is a hero! Jessica Mokdad did not want to wear her hijab. Jessica Mokdad was afraid of her family and her friend was also afraid for himself and Jessica because of her family. We need to help women like Jessica Mokdad that want to leave Islam or any other religion or situation. We need to help the weak and vulnerable like Jessica Mokdad from the bullies and abusers.
