Swiss court: No minaret in Langenthal

An Islamic cultural center in the canton of Bern cannot build a minaret, despite having received permission to do so before the controversial ban on minarets.

The Bern Administrative Court ruled today that the minaret in Langenthal was an iconic structure that didn’t comply with municipal regulation on rooftop structures. A complaint against the center’s dome was dismissed.

The challenge to the minaret came from the group “Stopp Minnarett Langenthal,” which said it was satisfied with the ruling.

An appeal can be filed to a higher court within 30 days.

Boycott Nestle! Nestle bottled water is ALL over the place in the Middle East and Pakistan too. I boycott it. Just imagine they ban your holy places/things and you keep supplying them with business. That’s how Muslims are usually – lazy, ignorant and indifferent.

  • TheBig-T

I’ve actually read comments on youtube regarding this story say that menirates are “Stealth Nuclear Missiles that are aimed at Europes capital citys”

Maybe I’m being picky, but… You realize that’s a mallard duck, not a loon, right?

  • Skeptic

    @Nur Alia,

That’s the spirit! Ignore the haters.

Look at the discrimination that the Chinese,Indian and Vietnamese immigrants went through in Europe.

Muslim immigrants need to have that same spirit. Eventually there will be minarets all over Europe.

  • mjasghar

nuralia that attitude is the problem
you are effectively saying the haters are right by giving in over the issue, it will be interpreted as confirmation that minarets are a threat
switzerland is weird though – there are places where you can’t use the lav standing up or flush after a certain time of day

  • NurAlia

What is important here is not having the mineret. I personally do not see what getting stuck on the design of a building has to do with Islam.

If they cant have one…dont build on. Do not give these idiots any more leverage against Islam than is warranted. The mineret is not important to Islam…so damned what.

We…the Muslims…are going to stop being so damned petty and whiny about non important things like this. We must also understand that one day, we will have to make a choice for our way of life, assimilation, or something worse.

We must decide whether we will board the cattle cars willingly, or will we fight every inch of the way…should that be our fate.

Honestly…had this been done 60 years ago, with another group of people, we would hav eleminated one of the funders and supporters of the hate mongers…by literally not creating the host for thie parasite.

    Stop whining.

The Swiss are good at holes in cheese, and chocolate. They should stick to what they’re good at and leave Islam alone!

  • Michael

Really? They think banning minarets will protect them from Eurabia (if it was true in the first place)? Only an absolute Idiot thinks that just Muslims will leave if you ban a tall circular structure.

  • Believing Atheist

I think the Muslims in Switzerland are lazy and incompetent. I believe this because of two reasons related to Swiss Minaret ban

    1. Several entities complained to the ECtHR about the minaret ban because there is a fundamental contradiction between the ban and the Constitution of Switzerland, but these complaints were dismissed because the applicants not being victims. The victims in this case seems to be the Muslims, so this begs the question: Why don’t the Muslims voice their complaint to ECtHR?

    2. Alexander Ruch, professor of building law claims that no official definition of minarets exist in law. This raises the question: Can one build a minaret-like structure such as a chimney but not necessarily a minaret? What actually constitutes a minaret? We need a clear definition and this should be addressed by the court of law if the Swiss people wish to enforce this ban. Otherwise loopholes remain. (Note: I am not for banning minarets just pointing out its ambiguity).
