The two women who beat a Muslim woman walking with her children in Niagara Falls have been sentenced:

LOCKPORT — Two women from Niagara Falls were sentenced to weekend jail terms Friday for their hate crime assault on a Pakistani woman last summer.

Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas ordered Sheree A. Sabater, 39, to four months of weekends in the County Jail and three years’ probation. Antoinette S. Ivey, 32, drew two months of weekends in jail and five years’ probation.

The 26-year-old Muslim victim, who was walking with her two children July 14 near the Tops Market on Portage Road in Niagara Falls, was wearing a head scarf at the time, police said.

“This woman and her two children were just minding their own business,” Farkas said. “These two drunk, high, out-of-control women, and I use that term loosely, pummeled her to the ground in front of her children.”

The victim said in a later Buffalo News interview that she heard one of the attackers say, “She’s Pakistani and I want to kill her.”

The nationality was just a lucky guess, Assistant District Attorney Cheryl L. Nichols said.

“I didn’t know who she was,” Ivey said in court.

Sabater said, “I feel foolish.”

That looks like an aggravated battery with an enhancement for hate crime to me. These “ladies”, under the circumstances, can count themselves extremely lucky to get such trifling sentences. If the judge had really pitied their children, she’d have seen to it they couldn’t be raised by these examples.

“Weekends” in prison? You’ve got to be kidding me. How about we take a few years off of their probation and turn them into actual prison sentences instead?

I never said Pakistanis are innocent! We have criminals too, BUT that does not mean we breed criminals exclusively!! I can list many people from other countries who have done/planned horrible crimes than what you have stated (Anders Breivik, Bill Ayers etc.)about Pakistanis. My point is, I do not single out nations for what their black sheep does. America is good, its people are good, BUT the media is HORRIBLE!! It brainwashes its people and make them stereotype! This crime incident is a result… The media here does not tell the track record of the US soldiers in Afghanistan, Pakistan etc (which by the way is not very good)…

And no, it’s not the media that makes Pakistanis look bad. It’s the number of extremists that exist in the Pakistani community, like the 18 year old kid in MD who wanted to kill the Danish cartoonist, or Faisal Shahzad who proudly wanted to bomb Times Square and murder hundreds of people or the DC subway bomber, but alas, Pakistanis will never condemn extremism that exists within their own community and continue to portray themselves as victims…all the while they terrorize the Ahmadis and Christians in Pakistan on a regular basis (with no outrage from people on this site).

Being publicly drunk and possibly high is surely an indication of earlier oppression in their formative years.
