Military Terror Plot: Murder Case Uncovers Terror Plot By ‘Militia’ Within U.S. Military

(Huffington Post)

LUDOWICI, Ga. — Prosecutors say a murder case against four soldiers in Georgia has revealed they formed an anarchist militia within the U.S. military with plans to overthrow the federal government.

One of the accused troops, Pfc. Michael Burnett, pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter and gang charges in the December slayings of former soldier Michael Roark and his girlfriend, 17-year-old Tiffany York.

Burnett told a Long County judge that Roark, who had just left the Army, knew of the militia group’s plans and was killed because he was “a loose end.”

Prosecutor Isabel Pauley says the group bought $87,000 worth of guns and bomb-making materials and plotted to take over Fort Stewart, bomb targets in nearby Savannah and Washington state, as well as assassinate the president.

Reuters recently published an article discussing the fact that this kind of infiltration is a major issue. Fortunately the Pentagon and the Department of Defence are admirably taking escalating steps to deal with this problem. (The bold font highlight within the main text below is my own emphasis).

U.S. Army battling racists within its own ranks

    By Daniel Trotta
FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina | Tue Aug 21, 2012 1:01am EDT

(Reuters) – They call it “rahowa” – short for racial holy war – and they are preparing for it by joining the ranks of the world’s fiercest fighting machine, the U.S. military.

White supremacists, neo-Nazis and skinhead groups encourage followers to enlist in the Army and Marine Corps to acquire the skills to overthrow what some call the ZOG – the Zionist Occupation Government. Get in, get trained and get out to brace for the coming race war.

If this scenario seems like fantasy or bluster, civil rights organizations take it as deadly serious, especially given recent events. Former U.S. Army soldier Wade Page opened fire with a 9mm handgun at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin on August 5, murdering six people and critically wounding three before killing himself during a shootout with police.

The U.S. Defense Department as well has stepped up efforts to purge violent racists from its ranks, earning praise from organizations such as the Southern Poverty Law Center,

…..No one knows how many white supremacists have served since then [1990s]. A 2008 report commissioned by the Justice Department found half of all right-wing extremists in the United States had military experience.

…..The Pentagon’s third directive against white supremacists was issued in 2009 after a Department of Homeland Security report expressed concern that right-wing extremists were recruiting veterans returning from wars overseas.

The Pentagon’s 2009 instruction, updated in February 2012, directs commanders to remain alert for signs of racist activity and to intervene when they see it. It bans soldiers from blogging or chatting on racist websites while on duty.

“This is the best we’ve ever seen,” said Heidi Beirich, leader of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s intelligence project, referring to the Pentagon’s attitude. “It was really disheartening under the Bush administration how lightly they took it, so this is a major advance.”

…..Academics who study white supremacists say proponents of the “infiltration strategy” of joining the U.S. military have adapted, telling skinheads to deceive military recruiters by letting their hair grow, avoiding or covering tattoos, and suppressing their racist views.

…..For neo-Nazis who get past the screeners, as with the gang members, the military needs a comprehensive strategy, said Carter F. Smith, a former military investigator who is now a professor of criminal justice at Austin Peay State University in Tennessee.

“They are some of the most disciplined soldiers we have. They really want to learn to shoot those weapons,” Smith said. “The problem wasn’t just that we were opening the floodgates to let them in. We let them out after prosecution or when their time was up and we didn’t let the police know.”

You know, if the story is true it very similar to the Islamophobes blog fight. They’ll kill their own because they aren’t killing their target.

Then again… who can trust a prosecutor when we know that there are government plans to ban guns in America.

BBC News have published a very detailed article about this plot and the soldiers involved:

    Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-19408479

    Article:

Anarchist US soldiers ‘plotted government overthrow’

A group of American soldiers formed an anarchist militia and plotted to overthrow the United States government, a court in Georgia has heard.

The allegations emerged in a murder case against four soldiers accused of belonging to the group.

Prosecutors say the men formed a militia called Fear, standing for Forever Enduring Always Ready.

They are alleged to have bought $87,000 (£56,000) worth of arms to bomb targets and assassinate President Obama.

Prosecutor Isabel Pauley told the judge at the Long County court, near the Fort Steward army base, that the militia had bought land in Washington state and planned to bomb a dam and poison apple crops in the area.

Their ultimate aim, she said, was to overthrow the government and assassinate the president.

“This domestic terrorist organisation did not simply plan and talk… Evidence shows the group possessed the knowledge, means and motive to carry out their plans,” the Associated Press reports Ms Pauley telling the judge.

    Murder charge
Details of the allegations came out during a murder case in a civilian court in Georgia this week against Isaac Aguigui, Anthony Peden, Christopher Salmon and Michael Burnett.

They are accused of the December murder of former soldier Michael Roark, 19, and his girlfriend Tiffany York, 17.

On Monday, Michael Burnett pleaded guilty to manslaughter and gang charges, telling the court that Roark knew of the militia group’s plans and had been killed because he was “a loose end”.

Private Aguigui, identified as the founder and leader of Fear, is accused of using a $500,000 (£316,000) insurance payout from the death of his pregnant wife a year ago to buy weapons and land for the group.

His fellow soldier Private Burnett told the court that Mr Aguigui had introduced him to “the manuscript”, which he described as “a book about true patriots”.

The militia aimed “to give the government back to the people”, he said.

Prosecutors also said that they do not know how many members the group has, but recruits have distinctive tattoos of anarchist-type symbols.

Attorneys for the three remaining defendants, as well as for Christopher Salmon’s wife Heather who has also been charged in relation to the killings, have so far refused to comment on the charges. The case continues.”

Any updates on why these soldiers or should I say terrorists wanted to overthrow the gov’t? Is it because they have PTSD, is it because they think Obama is a Muslim and they are Islamophobes, is it because he’s black and they are white supremacists, is it because they simply hate the government’s policies??

U.S. Military Disciplines 9 Over Video and Koran Burning
    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/28/world/asia/us-military-disciplines-9-for-koran-burning-and-incendiary-video.html

WASHINGTON — American military authorities disciplined nine service members on Monday for two episodes this year — the burning of Korans and the posting of a video showing Marines urinating on dead insurgents — that prompted nationwide outrage in Afghanistan. The punishments did not include criminal charges or jail time, and they fell short of what President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan had demanded.

Army officials said that four Army officers and two enlisted soldiers received letters of reprimand for sending boxes of Korans from a prison library to a burn pit at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. Although an Army investigation that was made public on Monday found that the soldiers did not act out of “malicious intent” to disrespect the Koran or defame Islam, investigators concluded that they did not follow proper procedures, were ignorant of the importance of the Koran to Afghans and got no clear guidance from their leaders in a chain of mistakes.

The Marine Corps said three of four Marines seen in a video urinating on the body of a dead Taliban fighter received “nonjudicial punishments,” which could include letters of reprimand, a reduction in rank, forfeit of some pay, physical restriction to a military base, extra duties or some combination of those measures. The corps did not say what happened to the fourth officer.

The Marine Corps did not release the results of its investigation into the episode because, officials said, there were continuing inquiries about higher-ranking officers in the unit involved, which was part of the Third Battalion, Second Marine Regiment, based in Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Military officials said the punishments were not as light as they might seem to the public — letters of reprimand effectively end most military careers — but it was unclear how they would be viewed in Afghanistan, where the Koran burning touched off days of riots across the country and compelled Mr. Karzai to call for a public trial.

American military officials said they were hopeful that Afghans would take the news calmly. “We have conveyed our condolences to the government and the Afghan people,” said Col. Thomas W. Collins, a spokesman for the international military coalition in Afghanistan. “These were both terrible mistakes.”

Neither the Army nor the Marine Corps released the names or ranks of the service members involved in the two episodes, which seriously worsened relations between the United States and Afghanistan, although the Koran burning engendered far more outrage than the Marine video did.

The Koran episode occurred in February at the library of the Parwan detention center on the edge of Bagram Air Base, where thousands of Afghans captured by American and international forces are held. Officers there worried that some detainees were communicating through notes written in library books, potentially to plan an attack. As a precaution, the officers assigned two Afghan-American interpreters to sort through the library’s books and identify those that might contain messages that could pose a security risk.

By the time the interpreters were finished, nearly 2,000 volumes, including copies of the Koran and other religious texts, had been set aside for removal. According to the investigation, one interpreter reported that up to 75 percent of the books in the library contained extremist content. But high-ranking Afghan religious officials who conducted their own inquiry said at the time that they doubted the writing in the books was anything other than personal notations, and that some of it was simply notes of detainees’ imprisonment, their names, their fathers’ names and the locations and times of their arrest.

Still, the books were deemed “sensitive material” by American military officials, who said they decided to burn them because there was no place to store them all. Although an Afghan National Army officer and a linguist expressed concern when they saw the books loaded onto a truck, they were still taken to the Bagram base’s incinerator. As workers began heaving them into the flames, an Afghan laborer offered to help — and then started screaming when he realized what they were. The Americans immediately stopped, but by then at least four Korans had been badly burned.

The officer who led the investigation, Brig. Gen. Bryan G. Watson, said in his report that the fact “that U.S. service members did not heed the warnings of their A.N.A. partners is, perhaps, my biggest concern.”

The Marine video became public in January, when it was posted on video-sharing Web sites including LiveLeak and YouTube. Military officials said at the time that they did not know who had made the video, but confirmed that it was authentic. Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and other top officials swiftly expressed outrage and offered apologies to the Afghan government.

The video showed four Marines urinating over what appeared to be the corpses of three Taliban fighters. One of the Marines was heard saying, “Have a great day, buddy.”

Marine officials said on Monday that the action in the video took place during a counterinsurgency operation on or around July 27, 2011, in the Musa Qala district in Helmand Province, a Taliban stronghold and a center of opium poppy production that was the scene of tough fighting at the time. Of the roughly 1,000 Marines in the battalion, seven were killed during the unit’s seven-month deployment in the area.

The Marine Corps said in a statement that one of the three disciplined officers pleaded guilty to urinating on the body of a dead Taliban fighter; another pleaded guilty to recording the video; and the third pleaded guilty to making a false statement to an investigator about his knowledge of the matter.

These people are akin to muslims, when it comes to fed government faking crimes against them and others like them as well as denying them rights etc etc. It’s just that they have a vocal support group in their country. Can you imagine a muslim country arresting muslims labelling them as terrorists or against the state, and then we learn that the state was lying…

We all know that it was the FBI and the CIA that were behind many of the so called terror groups. One of those ‘create your own enemy so that you can achieve foreign policy adjectives’ things.

Not that big of a deal.

To be fair, Alex Jones is kind of all over the place so be doesn’t really fit into the whole Right/Left dichotomy…

    @critical

i apologize for my blunder. i am not well versed in him or his politics and assumed. i apologize. i wish there was a way to edit previous posts.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/GargamelGold?feature=mhee CriticalDragon1177

    @YourKinFolk

    Alex Jones is hardly “leftwing.”

  • yourKinFolk

you know whats unfortunate? there is a left wing conspiracy theorist named alex jones who i heard said that there will be a white al qaeda. at the time i thought that it was a silly notion. you would never see large numbers of white people being a part of a militant islamist group… now i think i know what he meant… he meant an al qaeda equivalent made up of whites…. and i am seeing it now… with anders breivik, these guys, etc…. pretty soon, if more of this continues, which i am sure it will, even white people will get harassed at airports and subways. by local and federal police. be demonized by certain media outlets, etc…

i wonder if white terrorist groups get more notoriety, would the white population of USA and abroad try and distance themselves from their extremist fringes like the muslims have been doing to theirs? and if so, how forgiving do you think the people on the outside, looking in, would be to this kind of distancing? would they be as harsh as whites are towards the muslims?

This article is not pointless at all. These men would have gotten much more attention in the mass media if they were muslims. They would have most probably been described as “muslim fanatics/terrorists that are trying to take control of the USA”.

So no, the article is not pointless.

  • Sarah Brown

I agree – I saw this on Twitter and immediately had the ‘what if they were’ thought.

  • Garibaldi

    @webdawah,

Exactly. They would immediately be classified or labeled in the media as a “terrorist cell” instead of a “militia.”

  • http://webdawah.blogspot.com/ Webdawah

    @ windsofchange

You totally miss the point. If they were Muslims, it would have been automatically classified as a terror plot, not anarchism. There would be attempts to find out if there is a link to some foreign groups and governments, and ultimately, it would be linked to Islam by the loon industry and their minions. One of which your comment shows you to be.

  • windsofchange

This article is pointless. “What if they were muslim?” They would be thrown in jail just like these idiots and someone on this site would try to play down their link to Islam.
