Dr. Erekat: ”When members of Knesset call for the destruction of the Holy Aqsa Mosque or publicly tear a Bible without facing any consequences, this is incitement for terror attacks against Muslim and Christian holy sites”

PLO’s Negotiations Affairs Department revealed in a press release that Chief Palestinian negotiator, Dr. Saeb Erekat, strongly condemned the latest settler attack against the Monastery of Notre-Dame de Sept-Douleurs, in Latrun, in the occupied West Bank. Israeli settlers burnt the entrance of the church and sprayed “Jesus is a monkey” on the monastery door.

“This latest attack provides further confirmation of the culture of hatred and racism espoused by the settlers who enjoy full immunity, which has given them confidence that they can attack mosques, churches, trees, cars, homes as well as our own people without consequence. The settlers’ actions amount to terrorism.” said Erekat

He added, “We hold the Israeli government fully responsible for these escalating acts, which have been encouraged for years by providing incentives to Israelis to live in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which is contrary to international law. The Israeli Government has failed to hold these terrorists accountable for their actions.”

Erekat revealed, “Israeli attacks against Christian and Muslim holy places are not isolated incidents. In the past month, 57 attacks have been carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinian communities. They are part of a clear policy conducted by Israeli terrorists. When members of Knesset call for the destruction of the Holy Aqsa Mosque or publicly tear a Bible without facing any consequences, this is incitement for terror attacks against Muslim and Christian holy sites.”

Dr. Erekat called upon the international community to hold Israel accountable for its colonization policies, including violent attacks conducted by Israeli settlers and occupation forces. “The inaction of the international community has created a culture of impunity. The world cannot do ‘business as usual’ with Israel, while Palestinians live in fear due to the culture of hatred and racism imposed by the Israeli occupation.”

The Monastery of Notre-Dame de Sept-Douleurs is located in Latrun, in the occupied West Bank. It is near the biblical village of Imwas and the villages of Yilu and Beit Nuba, all destroyed by Israel after the 1967 occupation.

Yes, “bare-faced idiocy” would actually be a better way to put it! Technically, it could be ad populum, since there was a clear appeal to “common knowledge” (notice my quotes). Unfortunately, she couldn’t even get her “common knowledge” propaganda right, since only the most extreme idiots are claiming that type of nonsense.

  • Kirook

This doesn’t look like ad populum to me, more like just bare-faced idiocy. Or is there a word for blaming everything on one group, even when there is absolutely no evidential or factual basis for such accusations?

  • Kirook

    Words fail me.
    Or more simply,
    ?!

The only “democracy” in the Middle East!

I feel sorry for that kid in your picture. Having to be exposed to a nut like you has got to cause some degree of trauma.

  • Sam Seed

Ah, yes the ‘Muslims do these things themselves and blame it on others’, now where have we heard that one before? And out of your two sentences the last one makes no sense.

Abbas is really getting on the nerves of Palestinians everywhere. He’s really trying our patience. If he’s not careful, he’ll end up in the ICC along with his Israeli masters.

If you ask me, I think that’s exactly where all who were involved in the Palestine Papers scandal belong. Behind bars with the Israeli war criminals.

  • GaribaldiOfLoonwatch

I do hope that the PA takes its case to the ICC. Abbas, for some strange reason however stated he wouldn’t do so.

well…there is those ‘right kind’ of Christians. These people must have not been chosenites.

  • Nur Alia binti Ahmad

    Betty…
    You DID read the article…right?
Do did read the part where this incident didnt take place on American soil…correct?

  • Chameleon_X

Thank you for being the guinea pig in today’s lesson on fallacies. This is called an “ad populum” fallacy, which is appealing to popular opinion, “common knowledge”, or majority sentiment in order to provide support for a bald claim. When you are ready to present facts instead of propaganda, perhaps you might be someone worth listening to. But until then, you are just trumpeting your own idiocy.

well have you ever noticed that the muslims do these things them selves and then blame some one else for their dirty work? so sick run them out of the country that is the best thing to do and run obama with them.

  • SarahAB

I’ve only just read the story – obviously it’s awful.

  • Tanveer Khan

If they were muslim and it was a synagogue then Israel would have to protect itself from hostile spray cans. xD

  • http://jabhawiyya.tumblr.com/ jabhawiya

The fact that they enjoy immunity for these actions means the Israeli government is sanctioning these acts. They should be held directly responsible and punished accordingly.

Palestine has access to the ICC. It’s time to take advantage and try these murderous landgrabbing bastards.

  • mindy1

My faith does NOT demand such actions, I wish they would stop :(

Perhaps these “settlers” didn’t get Netanyahu’s warm Christmas message about Israel’s “Judeo-Christian heritage”. Or perhaps they were just astute enough to notice that Netanyahu never once said anything about a “Zionist-Christian heritage”.
