Historic Mosque in Jerusalem Attacked by Extremist Groups From Israel

The mosque is also known as the Prophet Dawud Mosque and has been the subject of attempted Settler violence in the past. In fact, according to the story below the first story of the mosque was taken over and converted into a Synagogue.

As you can see from the pics provided, significant damage has been visited on the historic site, including damage to 17th century Ottoman style marble tiles. Judaism does not allow for the sanctity and heritage sites of other religions and nations to be desecrated in this manner, it is the misguided interpretation of a lunatic fringe and the Israeli establishment’s acquiescence and appeasement that allows for such attacks to continue.

Sadly it seems Israel and the world is willing to bear this sort of extremism in silence, without condemnation or redress. (h/t: IbrahimV)

What if they were Muslim?

Jewish groups attack mosque in Jerusalem

Jewish groups have attacked the Psalmist Mosque in occupied Jerusalem and destroyed the Ottoman tiles in the mosque, the Al-Aqsa Foundation and Cultural Heritage Organization said.

In a written statement released, the Al-Aqsa Foundation and Cultural Heritage Organization said that Jewish groups attacked the Psalmist Mosque, located in the south-west of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and destroyed Ottoman marbles and tiles from the 17th century.

“Israel had turned the first story of the mosque into a synagogue in the past despite the fact that it was an Islamic architecture,” the statement underlined.

The attack on the mosque caused anger and this was not the first time that the mosque was desecrated, the statement said.

The Chairman of the Al-Aqsa Foundation and Cultural Heritage Organization, Zeki Muhammad Igbariyye stressed that the Psalmist Mosque should be returned to its actual owners and should be an Islamic mosque.

You are still distracting from the topic. You’re not an israeli but you behave like most israelis.

  • And why should that bother you? After all, it is no secret that Israel had a hand in making Hamas.

Depending on your outlook you could say one (fairly) good thing happened from this incident. It adds more proof that fanaticism is a danger.

@Yitzgood, Yes, the charity based in Germany and the NGO based in Israel seem clearly to be two different orgs.

Do you still think this event didn’t occur? I feel it has from the various news outlets and pics that I have seen, though I will note as of yet other major independent NGO’s haven’t confirmed it.

Do you dispute the Israel Times descriptor of the org as an Israeli Arab NGO? My research so far on it has concluded that the most troubling aspect to the group is the involvement of Raed Salah who has been alleged to have made some very disgusting antisemitic statements in the past (though he denies many such remarks according to Wiki) and is also quite fundamentalist when it comes to religious questions such as saying homosexuality is a crime.

From what I have read on the org so far there is no evidence the group is affiliated or supported by Hamas, if that were the case it would not operate openly, freely and legally in Israel, I’m positive.

I think it is fair to add a disclaimer though that this story has not been confirmed by major news agencies yet or other independent NGO’s.

  • I agree.

  • I have hard time imagining the wouldn’t have picked it up as well.

Whatever happend to use being the people of the book? We should respect history, not try to destroy it, my faith does not demand this :'(

I know 😛 I just thought maybe he got that info from wikipedia. Thats why i said it.

  • Tanveer Khan

They’re both different? Woops. My mistake.

  • GaribaldiOfLoonwatch

Actually the Al-Aqsa Foundation that is mentioned in Wiki was a charity based out of Germany that was blacklisted by the US in 2003.

Here is another source, reporting the story:

Beware those who call others names or imply wrong doing without evidence . Look up backbiting it’s in the Quran 🙂
    It’s a classic in propaganda circles .

Wikipedia. Something the US said apparently.

Why would Hamas care about architecture and heritage and other stuff like that? I always imagined they would have thought it was sinful, dunno why though. Just one of those thoughts that stick in your mind. Lol.

  • GaribaldiOfLoonwatch

Where do you get that “Al-Aqsa Foundation” is associated with Hamas? It appears to be an independent non-governmental org. based in Jerusalem.

Is there any other source for this story? Isn’t Al-Aqsa Foundation affiliated with Hamas?

  • GaribaldiOfLoonwatch

This is a sad loss for the collective heritage of humanity.
