“The Grand Deception”: Fox News Promotes Islamophobic Film

Bob Pitt discusses Fox News’ promotion of Steven Emerson’s Islamophobic film with the scary title “The Grand Deception.”

Jacob Hausner of Islamophobia Today has a good rebuttal of “The Grand Deception” and Steven Emerson that is well worth reading.

Fox News promotes Islamophobic film

News Hounds reports that Fox News’ latest contribution to the incitement of Islamophobia is its promotion of an Islamophobic documentary film called Jihad in America: The Grand Deception.

The film is produced by the Investigative Project on Terrorism, which is headed by Steve Emerson (listed in Fear Inc. as one of the “leading lights of the Islamophobia network“). It claims to expose:

“the covert structure and growing influence of the Muslim Brotherhood and Islamist groups, masquerading under the false moniker of being apolitical religious groups or civil rights groups in the United States, specifically how they are infiltrating or intimidating major societal institutions from Congress to Hollywood, from the mainstream news media to federal law enforcement, from the publishing industry to museums”.

The parallels between this sort of anti-Muslim scaremongering and classic antisemitic conspiracy theories scarcely need underlining. Yet that didn’t prevent Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly (who had earlier provided a boost to the demented David Horowitz) from giving credence to the claims in Jihad in America, along with a sympathetic interview with Steve Emerson himself (the self-proclaimed expert on terrorism who, you may recall, assured everyone that the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing was probably carried out by “Middle Eastern terrorists”).

Good try troll, we already addressed Morsi in this feature:

  • Sam Seed

You do realise that this is talking about in the context of warfare?

  • Sam Seed

It does to me, can’t see anything wrong with it.

Classic example of a cut and paste job from hate-sites. You tell me to read the Quran yet you go to hate sites to cut and paste out of context verses. Let me give you the full context of the verse you elude to and you will realise (actually you probably won’t, being an Islamophobe) that it does not imply that Allah is ordering the Muslims to fight the innocents.

Now open your eyes and mind:-

“9:1 [This is a declaration of] disassociation, from Allah and His Messenger, to those with whom you had made a treaty among the polytheists.

9:2 So travel freely, [O disbelievers], throughout the land [during] four months but know that you cannot cause failure to Allah and that Allah will disgrace the disbelievers.

9:3 And [it is] an announcement from Allah and His Messenger to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage that Allah is disassociated from the disbelievers, and [so is] His Messenger.
So if you repent, that is best for you; but if you turn
away – then know that you will not cause failure to Allah .
And give tidings to those who disbelieve of a painful

9:4 Excepted are those with whom you made a treaty among the polytheists and then they have not been deficient toward you in anything or supported anyone against you; so complete for them their treaty until their term [has ended]. Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him].

9:5 And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

9:6 if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah . Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know.”

So clearly everyone (except Islamophobes) can see that the verses speak about a Treaty that was broken by the Polytheists and the Muslims were attacked, so Allah allows the Muslims to fight back.

    What is wrong with that?

  • Razainc_aka_BigBoss

I am sure his exegesis will be so special and so much more well informed than all the other bigots making the same claim

  • Razainc_aka_BigBoss

Dear Snake due to a printing of the trillion dollar coin we have had to make cut backs unfortunately the PR the department was the first

  • Ep pP

really, maybe you should read your quran.. chapter 9-5 sounds familiar. ??

  • Kirook

Yeah, I haven’t seen any of them for a while. Good to know Loonwatch is nearly bigot-free now.

  • Kirook

“Allah does not ask us to commit atrocities in His name.”
Well, of course not, any god that did would not be one I’d worship.

  • I don’t remember seeing them for a long time. In fact the last time I saw any of them, we were still on the old comments system. For all I know they stopped when we switched over to the new one. Maybe none of them bothered to sign up for the Disqus. Than I again, I think they stopped at least a month or two before the change. Maybe they actually thought they could bring some of us over to the dark side, and than left when they realized that most likely, they wouldn’t be able to do that.

  • Kirook

Halal pork, Eternal, Cheryl, JustBob? Do any or all of those still post here?

  • So you know what I’m talking about….living here has never been easy….ever.

  • The_Litch

another Jahilwatch zombie, nothing to see here, move along

  • Nur Alia binti Ahmad

I think God himself is capable of being custodian of his Holy places. He doesnt need help from those who fund, support, arm, and condone mercenaries.

  • Judging by some of the up and down votes on some of the comments on some of the other threads, we also have some antisemitic bigots hanging out here, in addition to Islamophobes, who thankfully aren’t commenting too much either.
