Redneck Oklahoma State Rep. John Bennett Ups the Ante, Says Islam is ‘a cancer in our nation that needs to be cut out’

Oklahoma_John_Bennet_Islam

John Bennett hates Islam and Muslims, he even went to another country in an offensive war to kill brown folks in predominantly Muslim majority nations where he boasts about “fighting on the frontlines.”

Now he has returned to Oklahoma, joined politics and advocates ‘cutting Islam out of our nation,’ likening it (and by extension Muslims) to cancer.

John Bennett, not only supported the Iraq War but fought in it, he is as implicated in its destruction and the present chaos as the likes of pastor Gary Cass.

By Bill Sherman, Tulsa World

State Rep. John Bennett, R-Sallisaw, meeting Monday night with about 85 constituents at a Republican gathering at Western Sizzlin’ here, did not back down from statements he made earlier this month that were critical of Islam.

Bennett has been at the center of a political maelstrom that has gained national attention since he published comments on social media warning people to be wary of Muslim Americans and then refused to apologize in the face of mounting criticism.

Asked before the meeting whether he planned to apologize for his comments, Bennett said, “No. Because I’m right, and they know I’m right.”

“CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) used political pressure to make me back down, but I didn’t and I’m not going to,” he said to a standing ovation. Bennett, who served in the U.S. Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan, said he has heard from people all over the world supporting his position.

In a lengthy presentation that included videos made within U.S. mosques, Bennett outlined a history of the Islamic faith and his views that Islam is a sociopolitical movement intent upon destruction of Western civilization and world domination. “Their goal is the destruction of Western civilization from within,” he said. “This is a cancer in our nation that needs to be cut out.”

“The media is playing right into their hands,” he said. “We need to share his (Jesus’) story, love others and stand for freedom,” he said to loud applause. I love each and every one of them, but I’m not going to stand back and let them push Islam into our nation.”

He said the FBI has severed ties with CAIR in part because the organization was alleged to be an unindicted co-conspirator in a major trial about funding terrorism.

Ibrahim Hooper, communications director of CAIR in Washington, D.C., said the unindicted co-conspirator charge against CAIR was legal “mumbo jumbo” that came out of the Holy Land Foundation trial in 2007. “The key word is ‘unindicted,’” he said.

One attendee, Alan Beard, said he was “100 percent in agreement with what John said, and I stand behind him.” “You just have to look at other countries like England and Australia where they’ve gotten a foothold,” he said.

Another listener asked how to get Islam out of school textbooks. “Islam has no place in these United States,” she said.

Also on Monday, Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry released a resolution calling for Bennett and Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman David Weston to apologize for remarks that “put all Muslims in Oklahoma in one group, associating them with terrorists and encouraging fear and wariness among our citizens against other citizens.”

The resolution was signed by more than two dozen groups affiliated with the local Say No to Hate Coalition, including the Jewish Federation of Tulsa, Tulsa Interfaith Alliance, Oklahomans for Equality and several churches.

Bennett’s criticism of Islam comes at a time when polling indicates Middle East violence and the beheading of two American journalists may be shifting U.S. public opinion against the world’s second-largest religion.

Half of Americans now believe Islam is more likely to encourage violence than other religions, according to a Pew Research Center poll conducted in early September.

That figure is up 12 percentage points since February, when 38 percent answered affirmatively.

Older Americans, Republicans, conservatives and evangelical Christians were much more likely to link Islam to violence: white evangelicals, 70 percent, up 16 points since February; conservative Republicans, 72 percent, up 11 points; people 65 or older, 64 percent, up 18 points.

Forty-two percent of Democrats agreed with the statement, a 14-point increase since February. One-third of adults under 30 agreed, up six points from February.

The poll also showed that increasing numbers of Americans are concerned about Islamic extremism in the United States and abroad.

I won’t comment on Catalonia’s internal politics, but I find the notion that Serbian nationalists would try to use them and Scotland as excuses for irredentism to be strange. Scotland and Catalonia have clearly defined borders that have existed for centuries. In Scotland’s case, it has always been defined as a separate nation from England and Wales, complete with its own legal system and separate institutions. Serbia has its own borders and can’t justify ethnic nationalist irredentism based on disconnected happenings in Western Europe. If Serbian nationalists seriously think that, then they’ll be in for a rude awakening.

There was no genocide within the last generation involved in the Western European nations, but Yugoslavia did break up because the parts which weren’t exclusively Serbian wanted to break away from a state that was increasingly Serb-dominated. If anything, the Serbian nationalists should find more to empathise with in Spanish Falangism and British nationalism.

However, you’re likely more knowledgable about Balkan politics, so I’ll defer to you on this matter.

Genocide hasn’t been much of an issue for Scotland. The dispute is primarily political. Scots have long been willing to give the UK a chance, but an increasing number (albeit not an absolute majority just yet) are no longer willing to tolerate it. The UK has consistently resisted internal constitutional reform for well over a century. Various Irish and Scottish Home Rule bills were read in the UK Parliament with no great result. Even while federal states like the USA and Germany surged past the UK in economic prominence, and even while the British Empire coalesced into federations like Canada and Australia, the UK Parliament refused to give up power within the UK. The Irish eventually got fed up of waiting for federalism and left. The 1997-2010 British Labour Party government in London did deliver on many reform proposals early on but has resisted reforms ever since then. They’re now committed to keeping the UK one of the most extremely centralised states in Europe.

It’s simply the case that the Scots, Welsh and English have retained their separate national identities despite being part of the same sovereign state. I used to support the idea of a federal Britain, but I’ve gradually come to accept that the United Kingdom is walking dead, only kept alive by some genuinely repulsive xenophobic and militaristic nationalism. With the existence of entities like the United Nations, European common market, Council of Europe, ECHR, and even the Commonwealth of Nations, there really isn’t any more need for a dysfunctional 18th century United Kingdom.

Thanks for the discussion, Friend of Bosnia.

I forgot, I also don’t like socialism. We had our share of socialism for almost 45 years and a fat lot of good it has done our country and the way of thinking of its people.

A lot of people pine for the “good old days” under Comrade Tito. I for one do not.

  • Friend of Bosnia

Of course not. After all they are still there.

This evil individual just hates and despises both Palestinians and Bosniaks because they dare stand in the way of his racist ideas of grandeur.
as a rule, such individuals support all evil and inhumanity there is. It’s just as well he is powerlesss to do what he says. Nevertheless that he posts here gives me a feeling as if my house had been burglarized.

Ha ha ha. That you associate me with IS just goes to show what a narrow-minded and rather stupid individual you are. To you, anybody who is not a pro-greater Serb zionist islamophobe must be an IS terrorist.
That a while back you showed that you take as the gospel truth the Milivoje Ivaniservic propaganda lie of the “3000 Serb victims at Srebrenica” just is more proof of waht an evil and stupid individual you are.
You are just a pathological evil flamer and war propagandist who delights in infuriating people like me. I’m not giving you the pleasure. Write what you want. Anybody who reads your anti-Muslim zionazi cetnik garbage can see what you are. I bet against those Bosniaks who lost their loved one to cruel Serb hands during the war you will not dare speak lile this. You would not dare show up before them.
And you shall never live to see the Greater Serbia you dream about, nor the demise of Balkan Muslims.

Your denialist comment elsewhere shows the whole world who the lunatic is.

But you ae also doing your side a diusservice. I need only to show your venom to my br5others and sister to make them see that with such as you, and reasonable and rational discussion is impossible. And I’ll let them draw their own conclusions.

Don’t give yourself to the illusion your side can dispose of us balije like Ferdinand and Isabella did with the Spanish Muslims. Oh, I know it’s your wet dream but you will never see it come true.

And I’m not interested in further discussion with declared enemies of my people.

  • Friend of Bosnia

    Hm. Food for thought.
ANd it is true, 200 years ago, what tehj British did to the Scots can be described as genocide.
What I have a problem with is that if it succeeds, and if teh Catalans pull through their own indewpendence – and it’s not as if they had a reason to now, the days of Franco are long over but its their rabid exclusivist tone I don’t like at all. And that kods are only taught Ctalan at school. Doe classes in Spanish you have to pay. ANd of course that Karadzioc et al want to cash in on Scottishg and Catalan independence. While it’s not so much independence they want but Anschluss to Greater Serbia like the Sudeten Germans wanted Anschluiss to Germany. So, of course it’s no good to see all cases as the same, one has to differentiate.
For the Turkish Cypriots it’s again different. It was either that or be pushed into the sea.
There as well as in Bosnia it is necessary to get teh country back together because of itselfthe entities can’t exist.
But given mankind’s tendency to do evil and to make the wrong choices I’m not optimistic.
In the end, for the Bosniaks it will become a stark choice: impose themselves or go under. A third way could be possible but for the above mentioned reason is unlikely to happen. And then I’m rather for my side. Regrettable as this may be for the other side.

Sorry, but no. Scottish independence is not “the same idea” as what the Serbians did to the Bosniaks. Not even remotely.

How much do you know about British/Scottish politics? Salmond and his Scottish National Party are most definitely on the left side of the political spectrum on both economic and social policy. In many ways, they’re the last holdouts of the social democratic politics that used to hold sway in the rest of Britain. As the rest of Britain got whipped up into a frenzy about immigrants, the SNP campaigned for more immigration.

The external affairs minister in Scotland’s current SNP government is a Muslim parliamentarian named Humza Yousaf. The Scottish government offered medical assistance to the people dying in Gaza this past summer, and it condemned Israel’s treatment of Palestine whilst the UK government sucked up to Israel. The SNP even includes a number of English-born and English-identifying members of the Scottish parliament.

In truth, Scotland’s pro-independence movement is more focused on class distinctions than on ethnic ones. The English weren’t the ones who altered land ownership in the Scottish Highlands to drive out the locals; the rich Scottish landowners, those who had profited off of the United Kingdom and its blood-drenched Empire, were. Even now, the most ardent supporters of British Unionism in Scotland are actual Scots for whom the UK represents all that is right (as in right-wing, xenophobic and militaristic).

All the bloodthirsty ultranationalists in Scotland – the Islamophobic SDL, the white supremacist BNP and National Front, the Protestant supremacist Orange Order – turned out to oppose the independence campaign that Salmond led. They celebrated their hollow pyrrhic victory in the independence referendum by punishing the city of Glasgow for voting for independence. They went on a rampage through a square, assaulting pro-independence campaigners and racially abusing the Scots of visibly non-European ancestry in the vicinity.

The bootboys’ “respectable” fellow travellers weren’t exactly saints. They included the British Labour Party, which still has blood on its hands from Tony Blair’s Iraq invasion and whose authoritarian misdeeds during the 2000s are infamous, as well as the Conservative Party and UKIP. All of them value the UK’s role as an amplifier of American military power. All of them wanted to keep using Scotland as a depot for WMDs. The last thing they want is for Scotland to become another Ireland – a small country that tends to keep to itself and respect international law, unlike a certain few countries.

I advise checking out the blog of Craig Murray, an English career diplomat who was once the UK ambassador to Uzbekistan. He very strongly supports Scottish independence, in no small part because he is so scathing towards the actions of the UK government that he witnessed in his job. See what he has to say about Tony Blair and Jack Straw, a former UK foreign secretary under the 1997-2010 British Labour Party government.

It’s a myth peddled by apparatchiks of the British Unionist parties that British nationalism is harmless and benign, while Scottish “nationalism” is just latter-day Nazism. A clear look at the past few decades of history and the present day political situation in Britain would reveal that this is an absurd claim. Alex Salmond hasn’t killed thousands of people for the glory of his nation, but Tony Blair most definitely has.

If you want to find bloodthirsty, divisive nationalists in Britain, one need look no further than UKIP, the British Labour Party and the Conservative Party, and the (British) nationalist mainstream press that is waging a propaganda war against Muslims, European immigrants and whoever else has been deemed “un-British”.

I’m English, not Scottish, and I didn’t accept that Salmond’s prospectus for an independent Scotland was fully thought out, even if I liked the idea in principle. However, I will not hesitate to condemn the inclusion of him in any list that includes mass-murderers and outright ethnic nationalists who have committed or who plan to commit acts of genocide.

No, the Muslims are in the state of war started by the West (West attacked Iraq first, caused civil wars among Iraqis, Syrians, etc). What is classified as “terrorist” attacks are often acts of war in a war zone. It just happens that those who readily give the title to something as “terrorist” are those same people fostering the unrest. Second, majority of the victims of those attacks classified as terrorist acts are Muslims (as per FBI’s report).

  • 1DrM

Wrong, kindergarten drop out. The majority of terrorist attack victims are Muslims. The vast majority of terrorist attacks are committed by white western males. Proof? Overwhelming empirical evidence! 1.5 million dead Iraqis, over 100000 dead Afghans, over 40000 dead Pakistanis in just the last 13 years, all thanks to Anglo-American terrorism. Don’t get me started on false flagging yourselves and then chasing after the phantom menace of “al-CIAda” and now “ISIS” which you trained and let loose in Syria and Iraq. You’re fooling no one with your malodorous BS! You, yourself are a Evangelical christofascist lunatic supporter of “israeli” terrorism, and the destruction of the Palestinian people. I’ve sifted through your comments, and you are dense as they get, a typical American Christian hypocrite gone off the deep end. No facts, no figures, just conspiratorial nonsense from the far right in the degenerate tradition of the far left. You feeble minded lying jackasses sound like you learned history from watching Saturday morning cartoons. We can thank the American public school system for this tragedy.

God does not bless the wicked, which is what you lot are. Make no mistake you will pay for your barbaric crimes against the peoples of the world. Get back to me when you find those mythical Iraqi WMDs, 12 years and counting, devil worshiping hypocrite.
