UK Counter-Terrorism Law Calls On Citizens To Be On The Look Out For “Toddler Terror”

By Emperor

I never thought our own Elmer Fudd of the American political class, Rep. Louie Gohmert, would have something in common with those oh so wise and erudite snoots in the British Home Office! But apparently both class of politicians are freaking out, granted in a slightly different way, over — terrorist babies.

“Mamma, dadda, ga ga…where’s my goo?”

The UK’s most recent act of stupidity in regards to the Prevent program to counter terrorism is a newly proposed law, CST 2014, that would hold British educators responsible for the ideologies of their students, and yes, that includes pre-schoolers.

The suggestion, which is part of the Counter-terrorism and Security Bill currently before the U.K. parliament, has sparked a firestorm of outrage — and has sent the satirical #ToddlerTerror trending on Twitter — since it was reported over the weekend by the Telegraph.

The bill would call on school administrators to “make sure that staff have training that gives them the knowledge and confidence to identify children at risk of being drawn into terrorism and challenge extremist ideas which can be used to legitimize terrorism and are shared by terrorist groups.”

“They should know where and how to refer children and young people for further help,” the document said.

This is all being done to promote something called “British values,” which I think is a great idea but what is it exactly? Is the UK government going to start force feeding babies gin and tonic in their baby bottles?

“We are not expecting teachers and nursery workers to carry out unnecessary intrusion into family life, but we do expect them to take action when they observe behavior of concern. It is important that children are taught fundamental British values in an age-appropriate way,” a government spokesperson told the Daily Mail.
(Emphasis mine)

This reminds me of that time Rep. Gohmert had the terrorist baby meltdown:

Infants are sometimes known to be terrors in their own right, but this diabolical plan involves terrorists sending pregnant women into the US to birth their America-hating spawns. The mothers and their kids then return home where, the congressman says, the children “could be raised and coddled as future terrorists”— and later, “twenty, thirty years down the road, they can be sent in to help destroy our way of life.”

In all seriousness, the proposed CTS 2014 law is highly problematic as it opens up the possibility of taking away people’s children. The rights organization CAGE “has released an advisory document that attempts to educate public bodies on the problems inherent within the draft legislation,”

Key to the draft Bill is the ability for the government to use multiple public bodies to make decisions about the lives of everyday people, based on spurious grounds. Of key concern is where Prevent officials cannot gain consent of parents, they will have the ability to use health and social services to potentially remove children from their homes in order to implement their strategies of ‘deradicalisation’.

This CTS bill is utter rubbish and a joke just as the UK’s whole Prevent policy has been from the start.

Yes, David, but the “counter-terrorism expert” establishment in Western governments are fixated on “Muslim radicalization.” The only “terrorism” they know comes from one religion only. Real dangerous radicalization of the right-wing is not being watched and hardly followed by this “expert” class..

Another Anders Breivik could strike tomorrow – and the Western “counter-terrorism expert” establish would again be caught with its pants down …

  • Tighe McCandless

Correct. Values are something that change and evolve over time; it’s silly to speak of places as if they’ve always been a certain way or have always applied them in a just manner.

Even the ‘the West’ has had its definition changed throughout time as to what gets included with in it.

  • downwithpants

No country has followed their “values” consistently. The west is not a monolith.

“Key to the draft Bill is the ability for the government to use multiple
public bodies to make decisions about the lives of everyday people,”

This is a bit misleading as such meetings of professionals across functions are common in the UK already before people are either committed to hospital , other care facility or referred for specialised treatment . They are called case conferances . I have been to many and often involve – police , healthcare ,education, housing ,social services and the subjects of the case conferance are often present or their legal rep, guardian or similar . They are fully documented legal bodies . Not two blokes meeting in a pub .
In my experiance concerns about the suitability of peranting or the saftey and behavior of children are often echoed across different fields and a coherient plan is often the best way forward across a number of different professionals..

Next they’ll claim that Muslim sperm cells and eggs must be searched for bombs, and the sad part is that there are people who will believe that.

  • The greenmantle

I think so . Things must be not only done but seen to be done .
The public needs to be aware what is going on .
We may mock the Prevent agenda , it certainly is flawed in many many ways I know as someone who has been part of it ! BUT it is not secret although I admit more than a little ham fisted and is looking at what is a long term issue – the saftey of our children.
How much effort is being put into the prevention of radicalisation of children in the USA or France ?
At least the UK is openly looking at the issue and aknowleging its an issue rather than putting its head under the sand . This applies to all sorts of violent political views – right wing, left wing and or religious .

The question is, is this extra measure necessary?

  • GaribaldiOfLoonwatch

Are you bored to death when US-NATO policies are killing thousands, created another stupid war called the “War On Terror,” just like previous wars such as the equally stupid “War On Drugs,” which equally led to only exacerbating the problem and likewise inflamed racist attitudes and vilification of the so-called “other”‘ in that instance? I say no to your continuing stupidity and the stupidity of your co-hypocrites. I am not fooled by your snake like character.

…”brush aside their 7th century ideas, brush away anyone who suggests reform”… Your hollow words don’t move me, you don’t believe in any real suggestion of reform, you want to eliminate Islam and Muslims. So spare me the tired cliche of the poor, helpless, “good Muslim” that only if they listened to all would be well.

  • GaribaldiOfLoonwatch

Yawn…boring. I don’t need to mention the Inquistion or Crusades when there are so many modern day equivalents: Bosnia, Iraq War, draconian laws justifying torture, black sites, extraordinary rendition, drone warfare, etc. etc. Not surprised that you would support a clownish dictator like Sisi.

You say you were a “leftist idiot” looks like you’ve traded that idiocy for right-wing idiocy.

  • GaribaldiOfLoonwatch

Yes you are tired, we are tired, all of us are tired of the hypocrisies of the empire and their gullible stooges.

It is sad these Hebdoists were killed, it is a crime, but let us see you mourn those who are also killed today in Yemen…but you will not because blood of Muslims/non-Westerners has a different value for you and your fellow “loon marchers.”

  • GaribaldiOfLoonwatch

Funny you never seem to show up with your boring attempts at snark and sarcasm when we post articles about US drones massacring weddings, or targeting innocent children, or when France aides genocides in Africa.

Your hypocrisy is read, wide and clear, no need to keep posting the same banal comment on every article.

  • GaribaldiOfLoonwatch

Multi-use purses…good old British ingenuity…bet 007 never thought of it

In other news, we have a case of workplace violence in Paris. 12 killed at the offices of a satirical magazine.

  • The greenmantle

I thought a bit more about this . Children are at risk from radicals who will exploit them for their own ends . Just like the Hindu girls camp, the hitler youth , ISIS recruits that is why are teachers need to be aware and trained .

    Sir David

  • GaribaldiOfLoonwatch

Did she bring a pillow or was it given to her? That’s the type of hospitality that would reflect British values I guess.

  • Julieann Wozniak

Gee, Louie Gohmert and the Terror Baby Show do get around, lol.

  • Tighe McCandless

“Can someone define British values for me?What is this American values
British values Australian values bigots always ask people to follow.”

Pinning down this set of ‘Western values’ is often extremely difficult because of the fact that what is typically meant by them, per below, has never been displayed consistently throughout the history of each Western country. Anti-Islam parties or politicians usually insist that Muslim immigrants, or Muslims in general, promise to believe in the following:

-Acceptance of national security bills or acts intended to strengthen the nation from terrorism, generally at the expense of civil liberties (ironically)
-Professed support for written or unwritten aspects of constitutions found in western European or European settler countries such as freedom of religion, speech/expression, democratic representation through local or national forms of government, trial by a jury of one’s peers, etc.
-Cultural assimilation to the point that the individual or individuals in question do not follow some sort of melting pot ideal – the end goal of multiculturalism in a sense – but instead become virtually identical to the majority population
-Similar to the above, no ‘special treatment’ for things such as halal food, praying during the day, accommodation during Ramadan, etc.; the only way to be a proper citizen or subject then is to submit to the dominant form of religion in the nation or take a severe backseat to it.

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head. Indeed, it’s quite telling that such a definition is hard to come by or to articulate what can be said exactly to be ‘Western’ in and of itself considering that it has often acted hypocritically at times in ways that go against such professed beliefs or ideas. Nor is there ever a way to really ensure or enforce such ‘regulations’ on Muslims in the first place barring some sort of Kafkaesque system that would effectively require law enforcement to act as a kind of secret police (though considering how nutty some of the people calling for such things are, it wouldn’t surprise me if that was a desired goal in general).

  • The greenmantle

I agree its a good laugh but there is an element of truth about this and its not what you think .
In certain parts of the UK its rightwing extreamism that is the issue and I am aware of a case where a child brought into school some of his dads magazines nope not pornography in the traditional sence but filth just the same. Teachers need to be aware of what to do in such thankfully rare cases .

I only looked at the pick and laughed to hard to go on….but the baby is white.. so he’ll be a school shooter with mental illness

  • mindy1

Seriously? The things lawmakers debate about…. although simply teaching educators to keep an eye out for kids who need help is good, but this is absurd.
