Recently, Denmark has been in the news for its ban on Kosher and Halal meat, interestingly until April of this year animal brothels were legal and frequented, finally banned with a 91-75 vote due to international pressure.

Denmark has a virulent and hateful trend of Islamophobia in its society and bigots willing to act on that hate. Earlier this year a Muslim cemetery was vandalized and now a mosque that had 40 occupants was targeted in an arson attack.

The Local

Danish police said Sunday they had arrested a man on suspicion of torching an Islamic centre in Copenhagen’s Nordvest district earlier in the day.

“At 11.31am, the police were informed that a man had started a fire by throwing a flammable liquid … at the Muslim centre,” a police statement said.

The fire, which caused only superficial damage to the outside of the building, was quickly contained, police said. Some 40 people were inside the building at the time.

The suspect, who was born in 1980, will appear in court on Monday. Police said that the suspect has been previously convicted on charges that include vandalism.

The building complex belongs to the Islamic Society in Denmark (Det Islamiske Trossamfund), whose members also worship at an adjoining mosque. The group denounced the fire as “an act of terrorism” on its website.

This act “was likely the result of political and religious motives… As tragic at it is, it unfortunately does not surprise us,” the centre said.

    Man is Man’s wolf.
We are all sons and daughters of Cain.
Man does not have a moral sense from birth.
Whether one becomes a decent and honest person or a criminal is a matter of how a person is raised. Also on what one is taught about other human beings, because the natural feeling towards others is (or should be) empathy. Yet, as history has shown us, when a certain group of individuals, distinguished by race, religious beliefs, customs, sexual orientation, outwardly appearance or whatever, is pointed out as and declared the “enemy within”, then it’s not just natural-born criminals or people with an innate evil character. No, perfectly good people who wouldn’t hurt a fly, law-abiding citizens, honest and decent, hard-working, faithful husbands and loving fathers will then easily and without compunctions of any kind, become vicious killers, rapists, sadistic torturers, robbers, bandits, arsonists, iconoclasts, barbarians. And then, after having committed the most unspeakable acts of murder, torture, rape, arson and destruction, often angainsgt neighbors and friends, or relatives even, return to their homes, kiss their wives and children on their cheeks and say they had a hard working day (what they conveniently fail to mention is that that work was turning living human beings into corpses and beauty into rubble…); and teh worst is their wives and children fail to see it, or rather don’t want to see it.
History has proven that again and again. Not only in the former Yugoslavia, Rwanda, Central African Republic, Burma, Sri Lanka.
Sure, many genocidals are criminals, but many, many more are just normal citizens.
What acts of xenophobia we see now are reminiscent not so much of the Third Reich but how Germany was in the years immediately before. What we see happening ot the Rohingya in Burma IS like the Third Reich was in the years prior to the Holocaust. What we have seen in Rwanda and of course in BiH was just that, the Holocaust, and if the genocidals didn’t have gas chambers it’s just because they didn’t need them. Genocide can as easily be committed with small arms, with clubs and knives or just with bare hands.

The purpose of justice must be to remove from society such elements as are a danger to the others. Justice through the ages has miserably failed at that.

That’s why the world is as it is.
