Racial abuse shouted in Hartlepool mosque

Police are hunting two men and a woman who burst into a mosque and shouted racial abuse. The incident happened at the Nasir Mosque on Brougham Terrace, in Hartlepool, at around 7.45pm on Tuesday, February 5.

These brave men laughed when their pal spat on a young women in headscarf. How much you want to bet they are part of those “freedom fighting” EDL bunch?

A thug spat at a woman in the street apparently because she was wearing an Islamic head scarf.

Police have appealed for help tracing the man, who targeted the woman in Humberstone Road, near Leicester city centre.

The 20-year-old woman was walking near to the St Matthews service station when she noticed three young men approaching her.

One of them spat on her as they passed by and the three began laughing as they walked away.

Officers have released a CCTV image of three people they want to trace.

The incident happened shortly before 1pm on Monday, February 4.

Pc Dave Adams said: “The victim felt upset and frightened following the incident and feels that she was targeted because she was wearing a hijab.

“We will not tolerate people feeling intimidated and frightened on our streets and I would urge anyone with information to call us as soon as they can.

“The road was quite busy at the time of the incident so there is a possibility that passers-by and passing traffic may be able to help.”

The three suspects are white, 18 or 19 and of slim build.

One was wearing a peaked cap and another was wearing a black hooded top.

Family quits Bingham after anti-Muslim attacks

A Muslim family say they have been forced to move from their home after offensive graffiti and a cross wrapped in ham were left outside their house. Murad Alam, 39, said his wife and two sons, aged eight and 10, had moved out of their home in Bingham, Nottinghamshire, to a “safe” place.

Mr Alam said he had found his son plotting escape routes on his computer after the “horrific” attacks last year. “My wife and children also had names called at them in the street,” he said. “The first incident was when the big, wooden cross, wrapped in ham, fell into the house after a knock at the door,” said Mr Alam.

He said they had names such as “Paki” and “tramp” shouted at them in the street. “The kids have been abused a number of times; the eldest had smoke blown in his face by an elderly local gentleman.” Offensive graffiti was also painted on the path outside the family home.

“It really annoys me that they should use a cross and try and turn this into a religious argument,” said Mr Alam. “My family were terrified from the very first incident; my wife had never experienced racism, neither had my kids.

“In fact I had to explain to my children what racism even was, because they’re so young they didn’t understand the concept that someone could dislike you because of your skin colour or religion.”

The family has now moved to West Bridgford where they say they feel safe.

Mr Alam said Bingham was generally a nice area with a good reputation and it was a shame it had been tarred by their experiences.

“The week before we moved there, Bingham was named the eighth best place to live in the UK – but that’s if you’re white – there are not many Asian or black faces there. It is a nice, generally middle-class village and I’m sure most of the people there are great, it’s just these choice few.”

Nottinghamshire Muslim family suffers further harassment

Offensive graffiti attacking Allah and Islam has been painted outside a Muslim family’s home weeks after a cross wrapped in ham was left by their door.

The 31-year-old mother and two sons, eight and 10, say they have suffered five or six racist incidents since they moved to Bingham, Notts, in October.

The graffiti was painted on their path on Saturday morning.

A 13-year-old Bingham boy was arrested in connection with the ham-covered cross on Friday and bailed.

The family, who do not want to be identified, moved to the Nottinghamshire market town after the mother separated from her husband.

The husband said he had now had to move in with his family to protect them.

“They are in fear of their lives,” he said. “My kids are scared and crying. Two days after the first incident I saw the eldest on the laptop looking at a map, looking for escape routes in case anything goes wrong.”

“Clearly they are targeting my wife. I’ve got to assume it’s because of the way she dresses in traditional Asian clothes, with a traditional headdress.”

Burning crucifix wrapped in ham left outside the home of Muslim family in suspected race-hate attack

A Muslim family who had just moved into their new home were disgusted when ‘racist’ neighbours left a burning crucifix on their doorstep – wrapped in ham.

Police are investigating after the sick housewarming gift was planted outside the property of the shocked family in Nottingham on Tuesday evening.

The homeowner – who does not wish to be named – had been watching television with his 31-year-old wife and two son’s – aged eight and 10 – when there was a knock at his door at around 6.40pm.

But when the 39-year-old answered he was horrified to be confronted by a flaming cross propped up on his doorstep.

It was only on closer inspection that he noticed that the crucifix had been wrapped in ham – which Muslim’s are forbidden to eat.

The family are now scared for their lives after they were targeted by the racist yobs just three weeks after moving in to their new house.

The dad, a bank worker, said: “There was a knock on the door and I went to open it.

“Nobody was there, but the cross was propped up against the door.

“It was alight, and it fell into the house when I opened the door. I noticed sliced ham was tied to it.

“I’m disgusted and shocked. My wife is in bits – she’s very angry and in fear of her life. I don’t want to leave my wife and kids here.”

Neighbours today expressed their shock at the incident.

Sarah Winter, 32, said: “It’s awful. I see the lady walking her kids to school and, as a mum myself, I really feel for her. What a terrible thing to have happened.

“I’ve lived here all my life and I’ve never heard of anything like this before.”

Flora Smith, 71 added: “I’m shocked to hear that has happened. I wouldn’t say people in this area are racist at all.

“Putting something like that outside someone’s house is very upsetting and I’m very shocked about it.”

Nottinghamshire Police said they were investigating the incident, and appealed for anyone who may have seen someone running away from the scene to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Dundee man who threw a sword at Muslims and threatened to kill them faces jail

A Dundee man hurled a sword at three Muslim men as they stood outside a block of flats after escaping from a fire, a court has heard.

Grant Robertson, 28, launched a tirade of abuse at the three men following the incident on 26 January.

At Dundee Sheriff Court, Robertson pleaded guilty to a charge of acting in a racially aggravated manner and to assaulting the men. Sheriff Elizabeth Munro released him on bail ahead of sentencing next month.

The court heard that when he was arrested Robertson told police: “I threw my sword out the window at them, I wish it got them in the throat.”

Dundee Sheriff Court was told that Mahmut Turk had been praying in his flat in the city’s Craigmount Road at about 00:10 on the night of the incident when he smelled smoke.

He woke his roommate Yusuf Akhaya, who called the emergency services, and then rushed from the flat, where they met their other roommate, Emre Sezen. But as they waited for the fire brigade, Robertson climbed out of his first floor window and began his tirade.

Fiscal depute Trina Sinclair told the court: “Police attended with the fire brigade and went in to make inquiries. The accused then came to the window of the property and started shouting at the three men, saying things like ‘I will kill you all’ and ‘Muslim bastards’.” She told the court Robertson then disappeared from the window and came back brandishing the weapon.

EDL leader and Bedfordshire Police Commissioner candidate says all Muslims are backward savages

EDL News draws our attention to a recent Facebook comment by Kevin Carroll, who is now leading the English Defence League during the enforced absence of his cousin Stephen Lennon, and is also standing as the British Freedom party candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner in Bedfordshire.

The official EDL line is that they are opposed to Islam as a barbaric 7th-century ideology, but have nothing against its followers. In reality, of course, the EDL is a movement of far-right racists who just hate Muslims, as the vile comments that its rank-and-file supporters post on Facebook demonstrate every day. And, as Carroll shows here, even the EDL leaders sometimes allow their mask to slip.

The extremists always end up agreeing with each other and being on the same side of things don’t they? In their hate for Muslims, EDL members express anger that Malala Yousafzai, victim of a horrific Taliban attack is coming to Britain for treatment. EDL turn their poison on 14 year old anti Taliban activist Malala Yousafzai

Reaching new lows in their foulness, English Defence League members have turned on 14 year old anti Taliban blogger, Malala Yousafzai, describing her as ‘a piece of shit’ an ‘it’ and  ’free loading trash’.

The schoolgirl has been in the news recently because she has been campaigning for the right for women to have a proper education in her native Pakististan.  She has previously blogged for the BBC but this was to be downfall as an assassination attempt was made on her life whilst she was on her way to school.

She was unfortunately shot in the head and is in a serious condition with a brain injury.

She has acheived a lot in her short life, bringing worldwide attention to women’s rights in Taliban controlled areas and provoking massive anti Taliban protests in Karachi.

The Daily Mail reported this morning that she is to be flown to the UK for specialist treatment to try and save her life, funded by the Pakistani government.  She has since been flown to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham to be treated alongside injured soldiers.

This however has angered the English Defence League ‘Angels’ Division run by Hel Gower and the following poison was dripping from their Facebook group this morning.

Man who ripped off Muslim woman’s veil spared jail

A man who ripped off a Muslim woman’s veil in a shopping centre because he thought she was “just another illegal immigrant” has been spared jail.

Ian Brazier, from Shirley, Solihull, was given a six-week sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete a diversity awareness course by magistrates in the town. The 26-year-old had admitted racially aggravated assault at an early hearing.

The court heard that he tore Farhana Chughtai’s niqab from her face and threw it on the floor in Solihull’s Touchwood complex on March 3 as she shopped with family.

Alan Bryce, defending, said his client was angry at the time of the incident because he had been smoking cannabis and the films he was planning to watch at the centre’s cinema were not showing. He said: “He was angry that he couldn’t see the films or the films he wanted to see weren’t there. All these pent-up emotions were unfortunately released when he saw this lady.”

The solicitor said Mrs Chughtai was a “random victim”, spotted by unemployed Mr Brazier as he came down an escalator in the complex. He said: “He had been taking cannabis and it had made him angry. He saw her and he thought ‘There’s just another illegal immigrant’.”
