Police: Man Menaced After Leaving Queens Mosque

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect who allegedly menaced a man as he left a Queens mosque.

The incident occurred after the victim left a mosque on Kissena Boulevard around 8 p.m. last Friday.

The suspect followed the victim for several blocks and pulled his SUV next to the victim’s vehicle at a traffic light at Union Turnpike and 199th Street, police said.

The suspect then displayed a firearm, threatened to kill the victim and made anti-Muslim statements before fleeing, police said.

The suspect is described as a white man between 55 and 60 years old with a light skin complexion, dark hair and a mustache, police said.

The suspect was last seen wearing a dark suit jacket with an emblem patch on the left pocket and was possibly driving a Toyota SUV with a New York license plate, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.

We come across some pretty stupid people within the English Defence League.

Some are more special than others when they commit acts of criminal damage on a Mosque and then brag about it on social networking sites.

Meet Dianne Scrimshaw, one of the few English Defence League members left in Essex.

Scrimshaw’s Facebook wall is full of hate filled posts regarding Muslims so it was only a matter of time before she was going to commit a racially aggravated act of criminal damage on a the Jaafriya Islamic Welfare Centre in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex.

In the first post Scrimshaw rallys her EDL friends to join her.

Then posts a photo on Facebook of the damage she has caused.

This is the premises she did the damage on Fairfax Drive, Westcliffe on Sea.

This may be what set her off when she last week visited Barking in east London and her blood started boiling because she saw some Muslims praying.

Scrimshaw is also quite happy to hang around with the National Front and found herself on a march last November to commemorate the Nazi war dead.  This is from Hope not Hate.

While we’re about it, we’ve had a missive from the EDL’s Diane Scrimshaw, who complains that she was unaware that she and her husband were on the NF’s march to the cenotaph last November! According to Diane, she and her husband missed the morning’s real events (where soldiers and heads of state commemorate Britain’s war dead,) so she and her husband decided to join a march that actually, among other things, commemorates the Nazi war dead instead.

Scrimshaw says she was unaware that it was an NF march. I’ll highlight once again the linkto the report we did of the day’s events and wonder aloud how she was not aware that she was on the NF’s national day of disgrace.

But not to worry, Diane. You are not alone in missing the obvious. According to the Manchester Evening News,the EDL are planning a “huge demo” in Manchester in March. According to the paper, “Manchester is braced for another mass demonstration by the far-right English Defence League.

Le Parisien reported this morning that the mosque Provins , a town about eighty kilometers from Paris, was desecrated.

Six swastikas and tags were entered in red felt on the doors and walls of the place of prayer. This is the second mosque desecrated in a week in the department of Seine-et-Marne, after the desecration of the mosque Ozoir-la-Ferriere, located about sixty miles from Provins.

A complaint was filed by the Association of Muslims in Provins, stated the Parisian.

In early February, there are four mosques were targeted in one weekend: inscriptions and swastikas openly Islamophobic Ozoir-la-Ferriere, Nazi graffiti and Star of David on two mosques in Besançon in the Doubs and envelope slices of ham in the mailbox Meximieux mosque in Ain.

Investigation launched after claims of mosque attack in NATO base

The Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an official investigation into a mosque attack at the NATO İncirlik Air Base in the southern province of Adana, following claims that the attack was carried out by U.S. soldiers, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Turkish and U.S. generals, as well as other relevant authorities, will be asked for information about the incident as part of the investigation, reports said.

Local media in Adana had earlier reported that a number of soldiers at the İncirlik base entered the mosque on New Year’s Eve, destroying its minbar and windows along with the Quran. Turkey’s chief of staff subsequently denied the allegations.

Windows in the prayer room were broken by unknown individuals and there was some additional small-scale damage, the chief of staff said in a written statement issued late Jan. 10.

Another French mosque suffers far-right graffiti attack

A mosque at Val-de-Reuil in Normandy in north-western France was sprayed with far-right graffiti last Wednesday night. Slogans included “Anti-Islam”, “Long live the FN” and “France, love it or leave it”. As the Collectif contre l’Islamophobie en France points out, these days every week brings new acts of Islamophobic vandalism.
