So far no action has been taken whatsoever against the hardline Buddists for these kinds of racism or activitiescarried out against Muslims or Islam, Jaffnamuslim.comreports.

Issuing a report the Centre for Policy Alternatives   last week said 65 cases of attacks on religious places of worship between May 2009 and January 2013. Direct attacks have been reported from all provinces of Sri Lanka, making clear that the threat is not restricted to particular areas. Most of the reported incidents were from the Western province (16), followed by the Eastern province (12), the Southern province (11) and the North-Western province (9).

Two weeks ago Mahara mosque also vandalised.

Anti-Muslim Posters Campaign In Kandy

An increase in the emergence fresh anti-Muslim posters in the Kandy district has left Muslim community in deep sorrow, Tamil language website Jaffnamuslim.com reports.

The fresh posters whipping up racism such as “Remove slaughterhouse from the Kandy town”, “Kandy will not be allowed to be turned into another Akuressa” and “Don’t purchase things from Muslim shops” have created a fear psychosis among the Muslim people in the area, not knowing what is in store for them.

Another French mosque suffers far-right graffiti attack

A mosque at Val-de-Reuil in Normandy in north-western France was sprayed with far-right graffiti last Wednesday night. Slogans included “Anti-Islam”, “Long live the FN” and “France, love it or leave it”. As the Collectif contre l’Islamophobie en France points out, these days every week brings new acts of Islamophobic vandalism.

When will the French authorities take these attacks seriously?

Vosges: desecration of the mosque Attawba

The recent mosque Contrexeville town a little more than 3000 inhabitants known for its mineral water sold under the brand Contrex has been tagged in the night from Friday to Saturday a “dozen tags and particularly insulting homophobic” according to the website Vosgesmatin.fr which the information relates.

The desecration was discovered early in the morning, as most often: Muslims observe the first prayer of the day before dawn. Besides these tags racist, a swastika and “FN” and “Pen” have defiled one of the facades of the mosque.

Open during the month of Ramadan, which began last year on July 20, the mosque can accommodate two hundred faithful.

French mosque defaced with far-right stickers

Last month stickers produced by the far-right movements Terre et Peuple and Oeuvre Française were stuck on the walls of the mosque at Muret on the outskirts of Toulouse. One of them featured the slogan “In the face of invasion, resistance and reconquest” and another “France for the French”, while a third sticker warned that the white race faces extinction because only two per cent of white women are of childbearing age. Over the following days individuals drove at full speed past the mosque shouting “France for the French. Go home.”

Vandoeuvre mosque desecrated with Kahanist graffiti

The Collectif contre L’islamophobie en France reports a graffiti attack on a mosque at Vandœuvre in north-eastern France. The word “Israel” in Hebrew has been sprayed onto the doors along with a Star of David and “LDJ” – the initials of the Ligue de défense juive (Jewish Defence League), the extreme right-wing Kahanist movement whose UK section is headed by former EDL Jewish Division leader Roberta Moore. No doubt this act of desecration would meet with her enthusiastic approval.

Arrest made in Rhode Island mosque vandalism

North Smithfield police have arrested and charged a Cumberland man in connection with a case of vandalism at a local mosque.

Robert Scalso, 20, of Mendon Rd. is facing a misdemeanor charge of vandalism, police confirmed Monday morning.

Police said Scalso destroyed the sign outside Masjiad Al-Islam mosque on Sayles Hill Rd. earlier this month.

The crime was caught on surveillance camera Aug. 5 around 3 a.m. A person could be seen driving into the mosque’s parking lot and then smashing the sign with what appeared to be a hammer.

The crime happened the same day as a shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin, prompting mosque members to ask police and the FBI for additional protection.

They said they were concerned the vandalism might be part of a larger pattern against Muslims, or people perceived as Muslim.

North Smithfield police said the investigating is ongoing. Investigators have not released details on a possible motive.

On August 16, 2012,  a Palestinian American man went to pay respects to his deceased father at Evergreen Cemetery and was horrified to see anti-Muslim hate graffiti on a number of Muslim graves. Evergreen Cemetery is home to at least 500 Muslim graves.  Cemetery officials and the police have been notified. The cemetery is located at 3401 West 87th Street, Evergreen Park, IL 60805.

Calif. Muslims want fed probe of pig-leg vandalism

ONTARIO, Calif.—Pig’s legs were thrown on the proposed site of a Southern California mosque, and a Muslim civil rights group is asking federal officials to investigate.

Worshippers said two women threw the three legs onto the driveway of the proposed Al-Nur Islamic Center in Ontario shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday and sped away in a white pickup, said Munira Syeda, spokeswoman for the Greater Los Angeles Area chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Pork is forbidden to practicing Muslims and pigs are considered unclean animals.

“This is Ramadan. It’s the holiest time of the year for most Muslims, so it’s especially offensive,” Syeda said Friday.

The site is a house where Muslims gather to worship until a mosque is built there, Syeda said.

A security guard saw the incident and a vandalism report was filed with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

No arrests have been made, sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said.

In a letter sent to the U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday, the council urged the government to open a hate-crime investigation.

“Only firm action by local, state and federal law enforcement authorities will send the message that bias-motivated attacks on Muslims, or Americans of any faith, will not be tolerated,” CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush said in a statement.

No investigation has been opened, but it could be in the future if officials believe it is warranted, said Thom Mrozek, spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles.

Plans for the proposed mosque are still in the approval process and some residents have expressed opposition, Syeda said.

Some worry that the mosque will create traffic and other problems, but some simply do not want a Muslim house of worship in the city, she said.

“Unfortunately, there’s a wave of anti-Islamic sentiment around the country,” Syeda said. “It’s a time for Americans to remember our values of pluralism and diversity.”

The vandalism came only days after four teenagers were arrested for allegedly throwing lemons and oranges at a mosque in the San Francisco Bay area of Hayward. It occurred last Saturday during prayers at the American Muslim Association.

Four Hayward boys, ages 13 to 16, were arrested on suspicion of vandalism that interfered with the civil rights of the worshippers.

It was one of several recent vandalism attacks on the mosque, authorities said.

CAIR’s national headquarters issued a community safety advisory for U.S. mosques this week following “other incidents targeting mosques” in Missouri and Rhode Island and after the deadly shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin, the group said.

Rhode Island Muslims ask for FBI, police security help after mosque vandalism

Members of Rhode Island’s Muslim community have asked to meet with police and the FBI to request heightened security at their places of worship after the sign for a mosque in North Smithfield was vandalized.

Farid Ansari, president of the Rhode Island Council for Muslim Advancement and an imam at the Muslim American Dawah Center of Rhode Island in Providence, said Tuesday they are concerned because of the fatal attack on a Sikh temple in Wisconsin on Sunday and a suspicious fire at a mosque in Missouri on Monday.

“Hopefully, it’s just a simple case of vandalism, but we can’t be sure. Of particular concern is what happened within the Sikh community,” Ansari said. “We can’t just not pay attention to these types of things. We don’t know if they are connected or not.”

The incident at the Masjid Al-Islam happened early Sunday morning. Surveillance video showed a person walk up to the mosque’s sign, struggle with it then knock down a large piece of it, put it into a car and drive away, said North Smithfield Police Capt. Tim Lafferty. The vandalism was first reported by The Providence Journal.

Lafferty said detectives are investigating it as vandalism, although he said it was too early to rule out a possible hate crime. He said the video is grainy and the person is difficult to identify. They also can’t see the license plate. “We have no suspects. We just have the video,” he said.

Lafferty said police have stepped up patrols around the mosque, including extra checks of the building.

Ansari said they had reached out to the FBI, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements to convene a meeting so they could to express their concerns and ask for heightened security.
