WhatIfTheyWereMuslim.com is Here

Loonwatchers make the Loonwatch world go round. Your comments, tips, suggestions and critiques help make our site better. One of the types of articles that you guys have responded to favorably and for which we get the most tips has been the running segment “What if they were Muslim.” It is a segment where we bring to light the double standards and hypocrisy of both media and popular culture in the way Islam and Muslims are portrayed.

In the segment we highlight the absurd hypocrisy of those who attempt to link every misstep, misdeed or crime committed by a Muslim to his or her faith. Would the same crime, if committed by a Christian, be treated in a similar fashion if the perpetrator were Muslim? The preponderance of the evidence would suggests otherwise.

Now we have created a website, WhatiftheywereMuslim.com, that compiles and publishes all the “what if they were Muslim” stories in one place.

From the website,

Here at What if they were Muslim we question what would happen if a Jewish, Christian, Hindu, ______(insert religion of choice) were to commit a crime in the name of their faith. Would it be treated the same way if a Muslim committed the exact same crime? Would very little emphasis be put on the perpetrators religion? Would it be stressed that the act is an aberration, a misrepresentation of the religion? Would the religion be mentioned at all?

WITWM is not a site that opines on the “what if” scenario of your favorite Hollywood star being a Muslim. It has nothing to do with Angelina Jolie or Johnny Depp, etc. It has everything to do with the double standards in both media and pop culture that perpetuate the myth that Islam is inherently more violent than other religions or the root cause of misdeeds by Muslims.

We hope that our faithful Loonwatchers who have made this site such a success will continue to provide their support by also visiting WITWM and commenting and sharing the pieces.

A question we don’t have to ask very often…most of them are.

    • Robaby1984

Jihad Bob you are still using the weak argument that since many muslims are intolerant and violent it is justified that some non-muslims can be intolerant and violent. No matter what you say, two wrongs never make a right and I say this of muslims too, for instance that muslims can’t respond to violent israeli occupation with terrorism.

Exposing David Wood: Of Mosques and Men, Pt. 1

David Wood is a Christian apologist who attempts to save Muslim souls through his organization Acts 17 Apologetics and www.answeringmuslims.com. In the past Wood and his entourage, including Nabeel Qureshi, have targeted the Dearborn Arab Festival in Michigan for proselytism.

At the 2009 Arab Festival, David Wood made a controversial, and some claim one sided video that received over a million hits on YouTube which showed them getting kicked out of the festival. They claim that they were just engaged in free speech, whereas security at the festival stated that they were insulting and harassing festival goers.

Other Evangelical Christians criticized Wood and his group as being agitators,

“The Rev. Haytham Abi Haydar, a Christian evangelical convert from Islam with Arabic Alliance Church in Dearborn, said that a Christian group called Acts 17 Apologetics caused the problems at this year’s Arab festival.

They put cameras in their faces and were very antagonistic,” Abi Haydar said of the group that produced the controversial video that has drawn almost 1.4 million views on YouTube.

Just recently at the 2010 Dearborn Arab Festival, David Wood, Nabeel Qureshi and two others were arrested for disorderly conduct. Obviously intending to make a scene in an attempt at more YouTube success by portraying themselves as being persecuted.

Now David Wood, whose “love of  Muslims” seems to be akin to Pamela Geller’s (who he links to favorably a number of times) is joining arms with the anti-Muslim hate group SIOA in opposing the mosque and cultural center that is to be built a few blocks away from Ground Zero.

In the following video, filled with disinformation, falsehood and inaccuracies he expounds his reasons as to why he is against the mosque, and why he sees Muslims as a lurking evil attempting to take over the West. We expose it all in this series.

Of Mosques and Men

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxFzFIDbKpg 350 300]

10 years later, two groups of Muslims, the Cordoba Initiative and the American Society for Muslim Advancement are planning to build a Massive 13 story mosque right here behind me.

Right off the bat we see the disinformation at work, this isn’t a “13 story mosque,” (why would Muslims need 13 stories to pray in the middle of Manhattan?). The fact is this is a cultural center, that along side a space for a mosque will contain a theater, swimming pool, restaurant and other facilities with the expressed goals of promoting tolerance and mutual co-operation between people of different and varying backgrounds.

“Understandably, many people here in the West are concerned…”

WTF? Many people in the “West” are concerned? I highly doubt the masses of people in Europe or Canada really care about this particular Islamophobia-driven agitation, unless the “many people” he is referring to is the small hate group SIOE (Stop the Islamization of Europe and parent organization of SIOA) whose main campaigns revolve around opposing mosques and other anti-Muslim initiatives.

“…this isn’t an attempt to honor the victims of 9/11 instead, it may be an attempt to build a symbol of Islamic victory. Now, I have the same concern, but mine is slightly different, my concern is slightly different, it is based on a photograph I saw, while I was still in College.

While I was in College my best friend was a Muslim named Nabeel Qureshi. Nabeel showed me some photographs shortly after the September 11th attacks, and I found them quite surprising. Muslims were passing these photographs around and Nabeel thought they were absolutely hilarious. The first photograph was a picture of George W. Bush as a Muslim, and I have to admit that was actually pretty funny,

The second photograph wasn’t so funny, it was a photo shopped picture of the Statue of Liberty covered in a full veil.

Now, this one bothered me a little bit. The Statue of Liberty, the symbol of freedom and justice, covered by a full veil, a symbol of oppression and Shariah Law, now these two pictures actually worked their way around the internet and lots of people are familiar with them.

The third picture, is the one that disturbed me however, it was a photo shopped picture of New York City covered in mosques and minarets, in the bottom corner it said New York City 2006.

The idea was that the terrorist attacks had cleared the ground for the construction of new mosques.

David Wood makes some audacious claims that we are supposed to take as veritable truth upon his word. First, that the photographs he saw originated with Muslims. Second, that Muslims at his College were passing them around, (ostensibly in “celebration of 9/11”). Third, that a burka is a symbol of Shariah Law, and fourth, that the third picture was meant to convey the “idea that the terrorist attacks had cleared the ground for the construction of mosques.”

The truth is that all three of the photographs originate from a comedy website called “www.joe-ks.com,” (a fact conveniently hidden by David Wood in the video) which claims to be the “largest source of internet humor.” The site is definitely not Muslim or terrorist sympathetic, essentially it is a website that has jokes about everything, and a lot of the jokes lampoon terrorists and extremists, and some of them even lampoon whole countries such as Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, etc.

For example one of their posts is titled Afghan Humour:

Q: What do Kabul and Hiroshima have in common? A: Nothing,…. yet.

Q: How do you play Taliban bingo? A: B-52…F-16…B-1…

Q: What is the Taliban’s national bird? A: Duck

Q: How is Bin Laden like Fred Flintstone? A: Both may look out their windows and see Rubble.

Q: Why does the Afghanistan Navy have glass bottom boats? A: So they can see their Air Force.

Q: What do Osama Bin Laden and General Custer have in common? A: They both want to know where those Tomahawks are coming from.

Q: Why aren’t there any Wal-Marts in Afghanistan? A. Because there’s a Target on every corner.

David Wood must have seen the original post on Joe-KS which would put the pictures above into their proper context instead of the deceptive context that he has created. The pictures weren’t created or disseminated by Muslims after 9/11 as a means of celebrating or “dealing with the tragedy through humor”, in fact the post that first contained the pictures was lampooning terrorists. The post published in October 2001 was titled, If the Taliban wins the War #1, #2, #3.

David Wood makes a claim that Muslims were passing these pictures around when the truth is they were created by and disseminated by non-Muslims who were making fun of terrorists and extremists. He doesn’t provide any evidence of Muslims passing these pictures out, instead we are supposed to take him at his word.

In reality it is a clever ploy that omits the fact that not only were Muslims also victims of 9/11 but all major American Muslim organizations condemned the attack in the strongest possible terms. However, he wants to caste Muslims in a dehumanized image: ‘they are not part of our suffering, in fact they are mocking our suffering and enjoy and support 9/11.’

His disingenuous claim that the third picture is meant by Muslims to convey the idea “that the terrorist attacks had cleared the ground for the construction of mosques” is a cynical attempt to link the humor piece deriding the Taliban to the current construction of the Cordoba Cultural Center.

He attempts to instill in the minds of his watchers the idea that this was the plan all along. In doing so he asserts the interesting, if off the wall conspiracy theory that Osama Bin Laden was somehow in cahoots with the founder of the Cordoba Initiative Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, (a Sufi Imam who has condemned Bin Laden and supported the War in Afghanistan).

You see, the plan all along to subvert and take over the West was that Bin Laden’s goons would fly planes into the Twin Towers, then ten years later Imam Abdul Rauf, (who has never spoken to or met Bin Laden) would telepathically (through secret Muslim Taqqiyah radar) communicate with Bin Laden to receive orders to stealthily build a gigantic 13 story Mosque a few blocks away from Ground Zero!

Stay tuned for part 2…

    • Read Carefully

Are U Serious– While it IS true they have the right to speak, they do NOT have the right to film others without their consent. That is the right to privacy. Furthermore, freedom of speech is also limited in many cases. When you are attempting to use your speech as propaganda or even disseminate it as fact, speech is limited (look at the FCC). Lastly, you can not under any circumstance, use freedom of speech to insight chaos or slander others. Since Wood et al. were arrested under charges of disorderly conduct, that is exactly why they are not protected under the first amendment. You waive those rights as soon as your intent is to cause a scene or inflame a situation.

    • Are U Serious

Guys, it seems you all have a low opinion of david Wood and his friends. Yes, you may catch them at many lies, you may call them jerks (I think they are jerks), but I would also like to ask you to do two things. 1. Watch his video. You’ll see he and his friends are jerks. But then, 2. Read the first amendment of the US Constitution. Then, tell us all that they were breaking the law when they were arrested, twice, for doing nothing moore than talking and filming as they were talking. They may be jerks and even liars, but the video does not lie. This is still the US, and people have the right to talk and film. Had they been promoting a liberal agenda, you guys would be screaming bloody murder over this. Come on guys, try to be more objective. They may be jerks, but they have a right to speak and film.

    • Qasim Rashid

You know what’s amazing to me is that loonwatch.com is self described as “hate-allergic bloggers,” yet you folks have no problem placing a hate filled disclaimer at the bottom of your article?

How are you any different than David Wood, I wonder? Yes, Ahmadi Muslims are Muslims who believe Imam Mahdi and Messih has come. They differ in belief than you.

Why does that give you the right to endorse such a hate filled statement, and then not at the very least ask those commenting on here to not question another person’s Iman?

How about that, on one hand you ridicule David Wood for being a bigot, and then you go ahead and do the exact same thing yourself to a (peaceful) group of Muslims just because you don’t agree with their beliefs.

So much for being allergic to hate.

      NOTE BY Garibaldi [5/1/2012]

      @ Qasim Rashid:

Your comment was noticed by me today (since this article was referenced in today’s featured piece). The disclaimer was inappropriate and was not consistent with LoonWatch’s views. Therefore, the disclaimer was removed.

I realize that this is two years late, but I sincerely apologize for this slip-up. The article underwent multiple edits by more than one author, and the disclaimer was added afterward when I took reader input in the comments section too uncritically.

To be clear, LoonWatch does not play the game of deciding who is a Muslim and who is not. Furthermore, LW recognizes the persecution of Ahmadis throughout the world and we stand in solidarity with them. We also support the repeal of anti-Ahmadi legislation in Pakistan, in particular the official governmental decree castigating them as non-Muslims, which is no doubt a great source of discrimination against them.

      @TYO,

Commenting before reading as usual, eh troll? You’re trying too hard, not as hard as your lame attempt to pin Hitler’s popularity in India(85% of whose population is Hindu) on Muslims. Noboddy’s checking religions at the door, I went to an Arab festival years ago in California and they even had a booth run by Scientology. David Wood and his group of thugs were rightly kicked out, not for being Christians but for being a bunch of confrontational trouble makers.

    • Charisma Magazine wrote an article about Christians proselytizing Muslims in Dearborn, and it includes some pretty damning quotes from Christians in Dearborn who are absolutely NOT thrilled with David Wood and Acts 17 Apologetics.

      http://www.charismamag.com/index.php/news/28835-charismatic-pastor-says-michigan-muslims-open-to-gospel-

      Here’s a taste:

“It really discredits us as a Christian when we make claim that Shariah law is being implemented in Dearborn,” said pastor Haytham Abi-Haydar of Arabic Fellowship Alliance Church, who has ministered in Dearborn for more than a decade. “Any guy above 50 percent IQ score would know that that’s not true. So our credibility in the community is being compromised. Second, we are being perceived as hostile. We evangelical Christians are coming across as [if] we are out to get [Muslims].”

Christian groups have evangelized at the festival for years without incident, said Scott R. Cherry, a minister who has served among Muslims in Dearborn for 13 years. He said at this and previous festivals evangelical author Josh McDowell and several Arab Christian ministries have reserved booths to distribute evangelistic pamphlets in an area reserved for such groups.

“I’ve been one to walk away from the restricted table, to push the envelope, and I’ve found that if I’m not aggressive, if I’m not obnoxious, nobody has bothered me,” Cherry said. “And if they have, they have asked me to go back to my table area. At which point I say I’m OK with that.”

“But the way that Acts 17 does it, they want to attract hostility, they want to attract negative attention,” he added. “They want to get the authorities to surround them so they can say this is evidence of Shariah law.”

      My suspicions confirmed!

    • Garibaldi

regarding the disclaimer that you added about Ahmadi’s, i just want to mention that the Alawai’s (Wafa Sultan is/was one) are also considered heretics because they believe in other God’s too. Thus these two sects and a few others are considered apostate sects.

Also, in Judaism, the Messianics who believe in Jesus as God, but call themselves Jewish, are in reality an Evangelical or Southern Baptist sub sect. They’re not Jewish, but call themselves Jewish, and are considered apostates because they give divinity to a man and as such like Ahmadi’s claim to be a persectuted minority when the reality is they wouldn’t be if they did not pretend to be Jewish. The same with Alawi’s and Ahmadi’s, if they didnt’ call themselves Muslim, they wouldnt be persecuted.

    • TYO

Is it an Arab Festival or an Arab Muslim festival? Arabs are of several faiths. If this is an Arab festival then Arabs who follow Judaim, Christianity and Islam should all be welcome, as well as Arabs who follow other religions. There are Arab Buddhists you know.

    • Sir David ( Illuminati membership number 5:32)

Dan muslims belive that Mohammed was the last messanger of god, the Ahmadis believe otherwise thus many muslims believe them to be heratics. As someone who was brought up as a christian in a christain country I believe the JWs are child murders because along with other loony sects that deny there children modern medical treatment and as a result some needlessly die . I would rather my neighbour was a sunni muslim anyday than one of those loons. I wonder what Bob and Pam would say if some muslims esposed those views. The Koran is very clear about the fate of child killers and I certainly go along with that part of it .

    • Excellent work ! just today I was wondering how come Loons like Wood aren’t on this website ? You just made my day ! looking forward for part 2.

    • David Wood is now soliciting money on his blog so he can take his aggropreaching show to Chicago next weekend for the Islamic Society of North America’s annual convention. Of course, he had to spend another $500 for a new camera since the Dearborn police refused to give his back. He also says the Chicago police respect his rights–which begs the question, why does he need a new camera except for publicity?

    • IbnAbuTalib

David Wood is at it again! This man has no shame whatsoever.

      http://www.answeringmuslims.com/2010/06/support-acts-17-trip-to-isna.html

I hope those Muslims who are attending this event will bring their own cameras and record all of the thuggery perpetrated by Wood and his groupies in the name of peaceful debate. Since that foul mouth Sam Shamoun is accompanying them, you can expect anything but peace from their side.

As Allah says in the Quran, “When it is said to them: ‘Make not mischief on the earth,’they say: ‘Why, we only Want to make peace!’” (2:11)

    • Jack

The bizarre thing is: the same pictures David Wood adresses as being thought of as a hoot by Muslims, are being spread by islamophobes across the web to convey the idea that George W. Bush was a dhimmi, and that America is being islamized.

So if islamophobes send this material around, smirking about it, saying to one another this illustrates quite well what the US is really like, that’s just common sense or something; but if Muslims send the same material around grinning about the silly conspiracy theories some people entertain, it’s proof they carry a secret agenda and are radicals at heart.

    • Dizz

These Christians fail to open up to new cultures, even after Pope John Paul II accepted Muslims as followers of God and prayed in a Mosque and even kissed a Quran (Note that Catholics once considered Muslims to be “heathens” and “pagans”)

If Catholic Church can accept opinions other than its own, its about time Woody dropped his act.

JihadWatch Hypocrisy Knows no Bounds

The tragic earthquake in Haiti has brought an immense amount of suffering, with many people dead, injured, homeless and displaced.  This situation has brought out the best in many, various governments and organizations around the world have contributed emergency aid and funding but there has also been those who have attempted to take advantage of the situation by exploiting Haitians. This is what a group of American Christian missionaries are accused of doing.

The missionaries are accused of engaging in Child Trafficking, of taking missing children who are separated from relatives and smuggling them out of the country.

Baptists Probed in Haiti Case

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/user/AlJazeeraEnglish#p/u/7/ButNrPXP0oo 350 300]

A Haitian judge has questioned a group of US Baptist missionaries arrested while trying to leave earthquake-shattered Haiti with 33 children they claimed had been orphaned by the disaster.

The investigating magistrate question five of the ten missionaries for several hours and will question the remaining five on Wednesday, according to Marie-Laurence Lassegue, Haiti’s communications minister.

The missionaries were questioned behind closed doors and Lassegue said that they did not have a lawyer present at the meeting.

She also denied allegations, levelled by a lawyer for the group, that the Americans were being subject to “inhumane” conditions.

The judge will report to a district attorney who will decide if the 10 Americans are to be formally charged.

Undocumented children

The missionaries were arrested on Friday and are accused of trying to take 33 children – whose ages ranged from two months to 12 years – into the neighbouring Dominican Republic without the correct documents. The group, who are from a Southern Baptist church in the US state of Idaho, say they were only trying to save abandoned children. But legal experts say taking children across the border without documents or government permission can be considered child trafficking.

The children were later taken to the SOS Children’s Village orphanage, where those who were old enough and willing to talk reportedly said they had surviving parents.

Patricia Vargas, regional director of the orphanage, said: “Up until now we have not encountered any who say they are an orphan”.

Vargas said most of the children are between three and six years old, and unable to provide phone numbers or any other details about their origins. She said reports that the orphanage had turned some of the children over to their parents were untrue.

“The Americans apparently enlisted a clergyman who went knocking on doors asking people if they wanted to give away their children,” Jeanne Bernard Pierre, the director of Haiti’s social welfare agency, told the Associated Press news agency.

“One child said to me: ‘When they came knocking on our door asking for children, my mom decided to give me away because we are six children and by giving me away she would have only five kids to care for,’” he said.

‘Live parents’

Max Bellerive, the Haitian prime minister, has suggested that Haiti was open to having the Americans tried in the US since most government buildings, including Haiti’s courts, were crippled by a January 12 earthquake that destroyed much of the capital Port-au-Prince.

Haiti was home to an estimated 380,000 orphans before the earthquake [AFP]

“It is clear now that they were trying to cross the border without papers. It is clear now that some of the children have live parents. And it is clear now that they knew what they were doing was wrong,” Bellerive told the AP.

The prime minister said some parents may have knowingly given their kids to the Americans in hopes they would reach the US – not an uncommon wish for poor families in a country that already had an estimated 380,000 orphans before the earthquake.

Haiti’s overwhelmed government has halted all adoptions unless they were in motion before the disaster amid fears that parentless or lost children are more vulnerable than ever to being seized and sold.

Bellerive’s personal authorisation is now required for the departure of any child.

Investigators have been trying to determine how the American church group got the children, and whether any of the traffickers that have plagued the impoverished country were involved.

Of course Robert Spencer and his cronies at their hate site didn’t see fit to run this story because it doesn’t fit in nicely into their argument of Christianity=light and goodness and Islam=Evil and darkness.  If it were Muslims who were accused of this crime you can bet that Spencer would preside as judge, jury and executioner and say that the Muslims were just acting on Islam.

Grasping for straws and for some way to deflect attention away from these missionaries Robert Spencer attempted to cast Muslim relief workers as “stealth Jihadists.”

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RecHusCVGW8&feature=player_embedded 350 300] Islamic Relief USA and the Islamic Circle of North America, both groups tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, which is dedicated in its own words to “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within,” are operating in Haiti — ostensibly working in relief efforts, but no doubt doing a good bit of dawah on the side. Creeping Sharia has the story (thanks to herr Oyal).

Take a look at the comments section as well which Spencer claims is moderated. It shows the deep Islamophobia that is instilled in the hearts of Spencer’s followers and echo’s sentiments that Spencer himself holds but won’t dare to verbalize. According to them this is all “taqiyyah,” “stealth Jihad,” “fake.”

Some of the comments by luminaries on JihadWatch:

For so many reasons and for so many years Muslims have made me so deeply skeptical of Islam that I can’t help but look upon this relief effort as being prompted first and foremost not by noble compassion but rather by the desire to insure conversion. If this sounds too cynical, I plead innocent here and direct guilt towards the Islamic world, whose motives no person of sense should ever trust.

Taqiyya at best, looks like humanitarian aid, but disguised as making over the world for Allah’s supremacy and Sharia. Beware of Islamics bearing gifts. Cynical with cause.

Muslims dont help = Evil Muslims

Muslims help = Evil Muslims

A day or two ago, I mentioned that if Muslims were finally going to help with the relief effort in Haiti, then good for them.

I’m not usually so clueless—not anymore, anyway—but I have to admit, this being an opportunity for Da’wa did not really occur to me at the time.

Here’s a generally good article on the subject from Debbie Schlussel:

http://www.debbieschlussel.com/15625/haiti-islamic-relief-the-scientologists/

There is, however, a fair bit of silly moral equivalence between Islam and Scientology presented here. I *am not* a fan of Scientology, but there’s no death for apostasy with them if you decide you no longer want to hang out with Tom Cruise. I wish I could say the same about Islam.

From Hermit, above:

In my city in England, squads of muslims with islamic posters are out in force – stading outside shopping centres with buckets collecting for Haiti. ………………

I wonder how much of that money is actually going to Haiti, and how much will just be considered “Zakat”, and go for whatever Muslim cause—including Jihad—that the “charities” see fit?

Off you go back to Iran parasite, and stop sponging off us, workshy Mohammedan troll.

“Off you go back to Iran parasite, and stop sponging off us, workshy Mohammedan troll.”

Its good to see you disagree with what I said, so you think the Muslims who are helping haitians are not evil and are doing it out of the goodness of their heart, right?

I dont expect you to be able to put together a proper coherent reply which doesnt involve ad hominems and strange assumptions about my birthplace…but what the hell?

It just goes to show that charity is not a primary virtue.

It may be a secondary or tertiary virtue, or perhaps a value, but not a primary virtue as such.

Thugs and thieves are often fond of charitable giving as a way of making a respectable face in public and/or providing themselves with some ego grats for their material magnanimity.

In this particular case, Haiti is an open wound for the maggots to dig into and feed on.

By the way, why aren’t those bastards being run off?

Oh, oh … I forgot. Our Dear Leader, Red Hussein, has made a comittment to combating negative stereotypes of mohammedanism.

What do you want to be that he knows about this and possibly even had a hand in it.

Well, what do you expect? Followers of any totalitarian ideology when they are seemingly showing compassion should never be taken by sensible people as engaging in only charitable behavior. Sensible people know that ideologues (and yes, Muslims are as much ideologues as Marxists and Neo-Nazis) most always are motivated by a hidden agenda, i.e., the promotion of their belief system. Hey, this ain’t rocket science, just simple math, like your equations in your 12:16 P.M. post.

They are collecting in my city in England too. Same buckets and posters.

I wonder if they have registered with the UK authorities as a “charity”? Fake “charities” occur all the time. Perish the thought that those whom the Qur’an describes as the “best of people” would even think of doing such a thing.

I too, wonder where the money is actually going. Buckets with cash in them would be just too easy to “divert” to another cause.

“Hey, this ain’t rocket science, just simple math, like your equations in your 12:16 P.M. post.”

Exactly, if Muslims hadnt sent money they would have been trashed on here as evil Muslims and now that they have sent money they are trashed on here as evil muslims.

You are determined to remain clueless, aren’t you? Endeavor next time taking my full comment into account before commenting on it. Go ahead, try and rip my ENTIRE 3:37 P.M. post apart. Address all of it, not just a portion of it.

What’s so humorous here is that the equations you put forward are valid but you think they confirm narrow-mindedness by those who despise Islam, when, in fact, it is you who is the intellecutally diminutive one possessed of an insouciance that is risible in the first degree. My strong guess is that you’ll never get it. You haven’t to date, now have you?

“A few on the fringes” are all it takes.

“Well, what do you expect? Followers of any totalitarian ideology when they are seemingly showing compassion should never be taken by sensible people as engaging in only charitable behavior.”

Muslims, as followers of a totalitarian ideology, cannot be expected to exhibit purely altruistic behaviors. “Sensible people know that ideologues (and yes, Muslims are as much ideologues as Marxists and Neo-Nazis) most always are motivated by a hidden agenda, i.e., the promotion of their belief system.”

Muslims. as ideologues, are assumed to be motivated by proselytism, including in instance when they exhibit altruistic behavior.

What’s the deal with the Pepsi and Guinness banners?

Thank you for confirming my overall point which is that any Muslim generosity to non-Muslims is not motivated by a kind of Mother Teresa love but rather by an agenda. See why Islam is becoming more and more despised by more and more non-Muslims with each passing year?

Islam has had a run of it for a few decades now, whereby most ordinary Western folk were prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt, but those days are almost over (even a majority of the extremely tolerant Dutch are sick of Islam). 9/11, tedious Muslim arguments about the importance of “context,” Muslim word games with terms like “innocent,” actual reading of the Koran by non-believers (which has not only putrid sentiments in it but clearly erroneous ones such as Alexander the Great living to an old age (Sura 18) and the Jews believing that Ezra is the Messiah (Sura 9), Muslim terrorism worldwide on virtually a daily basis, and revelation of just how psychopathic and sexually perverted Mohammed actually was (confirmed by Muslim sources which stupidly brag about it) have all insured with each passing year that more millions of non-Muslims are aware of just how fucked up Islam really is.

And that’s why I think that Islam is eventually headed to oblivion, but not before it does a lot more damage, just as other totalitarian ideologies have before they have finally become the stuff for fringe human beings and for no one else. Islam’s final legacy is to be assigned to that collection pile which contains the greatest and stupidest of human errors. It’s so deserved.

After the initial earthquake in Haiti i’m not sure which of the two following aftershocks were the more harrowing for the survivors. The inevitable : Part 1 The luminaries of Film, Stage, Music rush forward to the first available TV network and tell us unaffected lay-abouts that we aren’t doing enough to help the poor souls of Hawaii (or where ever that AWFUL thing happened) so give money and lots of it and you might save many floundering careers into the bargin. Have these people never heard of anonymous donations ? – Of course not ! The inevitable : Part 2 The luminaries of the Muslim world, albeit slow off the mark, get in on the act by swapping bottles of water in return for a quick lecture as to why infidels have been so misguided all these years. Stepping on and over females to find a nice area to pray in, one does ask, who’s water were they giving out anyway ?

Some of them must have been watching the news, oh yea ! and the Jihadist’s.

Sorry, i forgot, a special thanks to Islamic Relief USA for the quite deliberate extended footage of the Guinness Beer Tent amidst the carnage.

“Islam doesn’t have a ghost of a chance establishing itself in the Caribbean. The Christian faith goes too deep. Maybe a few on the fringes may be persuaded.”

I would not be so quick to think that the scourge of Islam could not gain a strong foot hold in Haiti.

The Nation of Haiti has been infected with other demonic teachings, Voodoo.

An estimated 80 percent of Haiti’s 8.8 million people practice Voodoo to some extent, including many who claim to be Catholic or another religion.

“Muslims noticeable in cities”

“But followers of Islam have recently stepped into the public eye. Muslim men distinctive in their kufi headwear and finely groomed beards, and women in traditional scarves, are now seen on the streets of several cities.”

“Nawoon Marcellus, who comes from the northern city of San Raphael, recently became the first Muslim elected to the Chamber of Deputies, Haiti’s lower house of parliament.”

Voodoo and Islam both originate from the same source, the Devil himself.

What’s the deal with the Pepsi and Guinness banners? ……………………..

A lot of companies helping with the relief effort have sent tents and trucks and other items emblazoned with their logos. Some people consider this a bit tacky, but it doesn’t really bother me that much. It’s not as though they are only helping victims who have been past customers or anything.

Often these are already existing items—like the tents—that the companies normally use for concerts and festivals.

Agreed, CS.

For some reason the previous post with this link has a problem.

This one should be ok

“When Muhammad finished ablution, Gabriel sprinkled water on Muhammad’s private parts.”

Yeah, in your DREAMS I did that, Muhammad!!

Angrily, Gabriel

He should have sprinkled hydrochloric acid.

That would have ended Mohammed’s career as a child raping pedophile.

There is nothing untoward about criticizing Islamist groups using disaster relief to their own advantage.

Many have commented on this in the past.

Islamist groups have long used charity to boost their support amongst poor Muslims . . .“These groups have seized the opportunity to raise their profiles by painting their names on the side of refugee tents and flying flags from the roofs of trucks carrying blankets and other supplies and to “reactivate themselves” and improve their image among the masses.. The Islamists are, as the saying goes “doing well by doing good.” “

“[It is] part of their strategy to achieve political power.”

A further concern that arises from the government allowing militant groups to fill the administrative void in quake‐affected areas is the increased penetration of these groups into other government sectors. Education, for example, is a particular concern. . . .it is easier to set up a madrasa than it is to rebuild a school. http://fletcher.tufts.edu/al_nakhlah/archives/fall2006/byramji.pdf

Other concerns include: recruiting orphans for the jihad, weapons smuggling, misallocation of funds, money laundering, and harassment of other relief workers. This is a feature of Islamist operations that has been remarked on by the former President of Pakistan, among many others, but you, mp11, don’t know about it?

Twit. Muslims are there to spread Islam, not help. The only thing they’re supplying is Korans. Nothing else. They’re trying to spread the wicked teachings of Islam to Haiti and create there the sort of Saudi or Pakistani society you’d obviously like to see in the West. So off you go to Pakistan, Sharia-loving barbarian d**khead.

It’s good to know that Fitna is now available in French.

Avraidire, Robert Spencer is currently having his “Blogging the Qu’ran” series translated into Spanish. Perhaps you—or someone you know—could have the series translated into French?

Izloom’s propagation and proliferation strategy makes perfect sense, logistically. If there is one thing that these a-holes can think clearly about its about how to spread there message of submission to an ideology of barbarism. This might sound perverse but when these barbarians try to procreate with the Haitian natives they will be easy candidates for HIV themselves. This is the only redeeming quality to this invasion. BTW, I personally do not subscribe to the theory that Voodoo is about the “Devil”; the religion is not about this, but the bottom line here is that the “Devil” is a Christian concept so that negates the understanding that followers of voodoo are conjuring the “Devil”. I would say that if there is anything inherently “evil” about Haiti it is the evil of believing that political demagogues will somehow save the masses from their wretched lives. I would say that Haiti’s lack of up-to-par civilized modes of existence has to do with its subscribing to a belief system that says it is OK to be continually at the mercy of leaders whose only purpose is to use them as scapegoats and pawns for their own agendas. Now, izloom will be the next group of con-artists and whore-masters.

Christian Soldier, thanks for the above. I pasted it into the comments section of one of “Hijab” Heageny’s articles about Rifqa over at the Columbus Dispatch online. One guy already red it and thanked me for it. If we can expose the idiocy and super control of Islam in a way that makes people laugh, we may be onto something. This was superb. Again, thank you.

As you can see being a Muslim is not so easy. Many intricate rules to follow.

Except for bathing. Some simple dirt will do just fine.

“In Islam, it is not compulsory to bathe every day. It is quite all right not to bathe for the six days of a week. The only recommended bath is the bathing on Fridays, to attend the juma prayer, although a perfect ablution might do, in case there is shortage of water, or due to inconvenience. When no water is available tayammum will do. This procedure (tayammum) consists of rinsing oneself with dirt or dust. Imam Nasai (1.316) writes that a Muslim can bathe in dirt and dust simply by rolling his body as a camel or a beast does.”

For all the liberals out there that keeping saying “Islam is a religion of peace”, let us look at that peaceful book the Qur’an:

Sura 7:166 “When in their insolence they transgressed all prohibitions, we said the them “be ye apes, despised and rejected” the “religion of peace” speaking about Jewish people

Sura 2:65 “And well ye knew those amongst you who transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath: We said to them “Be ye apes, despised and rejected.” again, the “religion of peace” speaking about Jewish people

You Muslims are out of God’s will. May you come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Your “friendly” Allah, will not and never will save ANYONE..

there was another report of rly popular charities giving only 30- something percent of their money. The rest of te money- in the millions- was stolen by employees.

    • Maruf Khan

I understand how hard it is for people to believe that muslim groups can actually be doing charity. “There must be some ulterior motive because muslims are evil and how can evil people to noble charity work…” “I wonder how much of the money goes to Haiti and how much goes to proselytizing, jihad…”

Well, before you pose such bigoted questions do some basic research on your own. Charity Navigator ranked Islamic Relief a 4-star charity. 96.6% of their $60 million fundraising in 2007 went to actual relief work.

    • Imad

I’ve been thinking a lot about Spencer and his site, and i’ve come to three conclusions:

      1) tu quoque fallacy is a logical diversion from forming any similarites between Islam and other beliefs

      2) independant study isn’t something that great

      3) the best way to learn of Islam is read neutral and primary sources with commentary and under the help of someone more knowledgable.

    • Proud Loon

Jihadwatch is a site that reports the activities of jihadists. Call them bigoted if you want, but they don’t report on the activities of every religious group.

To call them hypocritical for such a lapse is like calling Loonwatch hypocritical for not reporting on crimes committed by Buddhists. The crimes of Baptists are just not covered by Jihadwatch’s purview.

    • Mahmoud

Even the people of Gaza, a poor and oppressed people, have made private donations to Haiti, and set up large fundraisers. Saudi Arabia has given the second largest government donation of all countries, except for America. Saudi Arabia actually gives out the second largest amount of foreign aid in the world, even though there are over 20 countries with a larger economy. So this bullshit about Muslims not helping is just that.

    • Imad

Anyways the claim that Muslims didn’t send aid to Haiti is a lie:

Bahrain: The government has donated $1 million to relief efforts.

Jordan: A Jordanian air force plane carrying a military field hospital and 6 tons of food and supplies left Amman on January 14. A second plane carrying Jordanian medics left the following day.

Iran: Iran’s Red Crescent society sent 30 tons of humanitarian aid, including food, tents and medicine, on January 16.

Kuwait: Kuwait donated $1 million to relief efforts; the Red Crescent is preparing 100 tons of food, medical supplies, tents and blankets to fly to Haiti.

Lebanon: Lebanon is loading a plane with 25 tons of tents and 3 tons of medical supplies; it leaves tomorrow.

Morocco: Two planes carrying 24 tons of aid left the city of Kenitra on January 16. The Moroccan government has pledged $1 million in aid to Haiti.

Qatar: A Qatari C-17 aircraft loaded with 50 tons of aid left for Port-au-Prince on January 14. The Qatari government also sent a rescue team to set up a field hospital; the Red Crescent will sent another $100,000.

Turkey: Three cargo planes — carrying search-and-rescue teams, a mobile hospital and aid materials — left for Haiti on January 16. Another two planes left yesterday. Turkey has also donated $1 million in cash.

United Arab Emirates: The UAE sent two planes loaded with tents, and a team from the UAE’s Red Crescent will arrive in the Dominican Republic tomorrow to buy $500,000 worth of supplies and truck them to Haiti. Another 50 tons of emergency supplies will be air-lifted from Abu Dhabi tomorrow.

And these are just the countries in our area of interest — I didn’t include majority-Muslim countries like Indonesia and Malaysia, which have also made contributions. Oh, and the Islamic Society of North America set up a fund for Haiti, too.

(One notable omission from the list: Saudi Arabia hasn’t announced a donation yet, which is really inexcusable for a country with that kind of oil reserves.)

Looks like Spencer is only right about Saudi Arabia, and even poor gazans being oppressed by the Israeli blockades (yes I think they are being oppressed) are donating to Haiti.

    • Imad

This was one of the commentors. He’s still critical of Islam and later calls Muslims followers of a totalitarian ideology, but he made an excellent point in this post exposing spencers double standard:

mp11 | January 30, 2010 4:42 PM | Reply “Hey, this ain’t rocket science, just simple math, like your equations in your 12:16 P.M. post.” Exactly, if Muslims hadnt sent money they would have been trashed on here as evil Muslims and now that they have sent money they are trashed on here as evil muslims.

There WAS actually a post on j-watch about Saudi Arabia not sending money to Haiti. This guy mustve been more right then he thought.

    • to Question

If you check the “Like this site? How you can help” link above it shows various way you can support Loon Watch, and one of them is by linking and adding the logo to let readers know.

Suhaib Webb, (being an Imam and a popular one) would want to support a project like this and tell his readers and pupils, as would any Muslim, even secular ones, who are not religous do not want to see their religion being attacked unfairly.

You’ll find lots of secular and non practicing Muslims who rally together for a cause like this. If there is one thing that we can thank the Islamophobes for, is how they unite the religious and secular Muslims.

In any case, i’m sure readers here would love to hear what Suhaib Webb and other Imam’s have to say by commenting. They’re probably busy at their own sites, but it would be nice if they add input here too.

      Loon Watch,

Can I make a suggestion for the “comments” feed on the main page? I note that a set number of “latest comments” are published. 10 are listed. This means if 17 are approved we will miss the 7 not showing, and there is no other way of knowing if any new comments are added.

Do you think it’s possible to add a “previous comments” link at the bottom, so that we can scroll back and read any new comments that we may have missed?

As the website get’s busier, this is something that you will have to sort out eventually anyway.

Many thanks, and sorry for making you work harder;)

    • Question

@Xexes well I guess that does make sense. I was just wondering. Imam Suhaib Webb is smart as heck so it wouldn’t have surprised me if he was affiliated with this site in any way. LW For The Win.

lol Question, if everyone who linked to Loonwatch ran it or was a part of it, then it would be run by 1000 people, I see tons of site linking to LW on their blogroll including Jewish and Christian sites. I doubt Imam Suhaib Webb runs this site, he is an American Muslim and Islamophobia is a rising disease in the West, it makes perfect sense for him to link to the best site out there dealing with this disease,… heck, I linked here from both my blogs, word!

Top 10 Most Popular LoonWatch Pieces Of 2009

top10

It has been a crazy 2009, we began our little adventure here at Loonwatch about eight months ago to monitor and expose the comical and disgusting world of Islamophobia. In that time we have gathered a pretty formidable team: Emperor, Garibaldi, Mooneye, Danios, Zingel, Darter and the sporadic contributors American Sole and Barbel.

The year has been wacky and sad, we witnessed Islamophobic murders, violence, and incitement, the continuing repitition of the double standard of castigating all Islam for the crimes of a few Muslims in the media, we saw crazy conspiracy theories revolving around Barack Obama’s supposed “Mooslimness” increase, and much more and Loonwatch has been in the middle of it all, documenting and breaking it down.

We have taken on Robert Spencer and JihadWatch, for the past few years he had been either mostly ignored or left unscathed but through our exposes such as Zingel’s devastating revelation that Spencer’s site was connected to “F***Islam.com” and Danios’ thorough and explosive dissections of Spencer’s arguments he has been exposed for the hateful fraud that he is. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that Spencer is scared of Loonwatch, when there was an open challenge for him to rebut our refutations he slithered into silence.

We have documented the Blog Wars in the anti-Muslim blogosphere, the humiliation they had to deal with when we exposed how they had fallen for one conspiracy theory after another such as the insane Gaza mass wedding pedophilia conspiracy. From the Fathima Rifqa Bary case all the way to the Swiss minaret ban we have covered it all, and we can only promise that with the continued participation and support of our indefatigable readers we will keep bringing explosive exposes and incisive commentary on the loony world of Islamophobia!

Without further ado these are the top ten most popular pieces of 2009 from Loonwatch (we tallied this by posting those pieces that had the most traffic on the site):

Anti-Muslim Blogoshpere Runs Amuck: Forced to Eat Crow

gaza_wedding

Islamophobes purposefully mistook these girls as child brides

The Loon world was whipped into a frenzy based on, as usual, the reinforcing winds of ignorance and hate. In what was meant to be an unremarkable story, Tim Marshall a reporter for Sky News blogged on a mass wedding celebration in the Gaza Strip officiated by  Hamas. Marshall reports in his excellent blog Islamophobia. Ignorance or Propaganda?,

The party is for 450 grooms, the brides are elsewhere, some among the 5,000 or so guests. It’s the way things are done here, Personally I’m for the mixing of the sexes, but I’m not about to argue, I’m outnumbered.

Up on the stage there’s music and dancing. Everyone’s having a good time, even me, although the Hamas robocops are making me a little nervous. Sure Hamas have cold blooded killers among them, sure they support the murder of children in Israel, sure they are cracking down on women’s rights, but many of their supporters are just ordinary people. And they need a break…Then the fireworks explode, the cheering begins, and in march the Hamas scouts, bashing drums, looking every inch the future Hamas fighters many will be. Then the grooms, aged about 18 to about 28. They are holding hands with their young nieces and cousins, little girls aged from about 3 to 8, made up to the nines, wearing white wedding dresses.

So what has gotten the Loon world completely riled up? Well it seems that many of the anti-Muslims misconstrued the occasion and thought the grooms were actually marrying the little girls who were their nieces or cousins! Tim Marshall explains,

Our report on this put it into context saying that it took place just a mile from the Israeli border and was a message from Hamas about its strength confidence and future fighters. Oh and that the brides were elsewhere. Pretty straightforward.

It never struck me for a moment that the little girls might later be described in the bloggersphere as the brides! How naive I am.

Dozens, and I mean dozens, of websites took the video of the event and wrote lurid stories about Hamas mass paedophilia with headlines about ‘450 child brides’, and endless copy about how disgusting this was, how it showed how depraved Islam is, et al, ad infinitum. Site after site jumped on the story, linking from one totally wrong load of rubbish to the next. I’ll give credit to Tundra Tabloids who at least took down the video, but most sites just ploughed on regardless.

So which sites are these, and what have the various reactions been? Bartholomew gives us a hint,

The many websites that picked this up have responded in various ways: some issuing corrections, some quickly deleting their postings, and some insisting that it’s all true and that Marshall is trying to cover up the fact: “Why”, demands one site “would Tim Marshall defend the Gaza pedophiles?” One of the sites that decided to scrub was Robert Spencer’s Jihad Watch, which is worth noting as Spencer claims some sort of academic expertise on Islam.

Where does this collective hallucination and fixation on fiction originate from? The simple, straight forward answer is that it comes from the collective hysterical hatred shared by those who despise Islam and Muslims. It is a manifestation of Islamophobia, “ie. an irrational fear of Islam.” It springs from the idea that Islam is evil, inherently backwards, oppressive to women. The talking point goes, “Muhammad was a pedophile who married 9 year old A’isha and these vile Mooslims must be doing it now on this massive scale!” George Readings puts this into some context in a recent post on The Spitoons (via Bartholemew),

The “argument” goes that Muslims believe Muhammad to be a perfect model for behaviour and therefore the fact of Muhammad’s marriage to A’isha somehow proves Islam to be a depraved religion…This attempt to aggressively apply a modern British definition of paedophilia to seventh century Arabia strikes me as a sign of severe anthropological illiteracy…

…Marriage to a pre-pubescant child with whom consummation occurs upon reaching puberty is not a model most people would be happy with in the modern world (although Bolivia sets the age of consent at puberty).

Which is probably why nearly all Muslim countries have reformed these rules beyond recognition. The age of consent in Algeria and Malaysia is 16, in Indonesia it is 19 for males and 16 for females. In Egypt it’s 18 for both and Tunisia 20. Reform has not, however, come to Saudi Arabia. Back in April the world followed the case of a mother trying to obtain a divorce for her eight-year-old daughter who had been married off by her father to a friend he owed a debt. In the end she succeeded and now there is even talk of Saudi Arabia preventing marriage before the age of 18.

Poor Tim Marshall scoured the net in an attempt to let the Islamophobes know that they had gotten it wrong but what was the result?

I spent a few hours visiting websites and leaving comments where I could. To little avail. Instead I received a steady stream of vitriol. The best response was on a site run by a Debbie Schlussel . The guy who posted it said he wasn’t interested in the detail. The detail being the fact that the girls weren’t the brides.

It showed how much some people want to believe nonsense like this, as it re-inforces their prejudices, always a comfortably fun thing to do. But Hamas, and the jihadists do enough terrible things without having to make things up about them. Most of the stuff I read was outright, unthinking, gleeful, Islamophobia from people who clearly knew nothing about Arab popular culture. It’s as is they really beleive that because there are examples of child brides, it means all weddings are with child brides.

Debbie Schlussel is not new to LoonWatch readers, her doozy looniness is par for the course, so Tim shouldn’t worry, but he hit the nail on the head when he wrote, “It showed how much some people want to believe nonsense like this, as it re-inforces their prejudices, always a comfortably fun thing to do.” This is exactly the case — loaded with a bagful of prejudice and preconceived notions the Islamophobes took the wedding to be an affirmation of their pre-set conjectures.

When they were presented with the fact that they had stupendously erred some corrected themselves  while others went into denial. It almost reminds you of some Biblical literalists who believe the world is 6,000 years old, you can present them with all the overwhelming evidence that point to the fact that the world is many millions of times older but they will stubbornly hold on to their literal interepretation of the Bible. This is not much different, and serves as a sweeping manifestation of the kind of irrationality that ignorance coupled with hate can produce.

Are you stupid or being purposefully obtuse? Pics have been provided, the reporter who first reported this is NON-MUSLIM, he was at the wedding and noted, just like article did that those girls are the men’s relatives, sisters, nieces.

It’s a sad indictment on that you have to resort to hoaxes and lies in your attempt to demonize Muslims and Islam but it is alas unsurprising.

Your an ignorant blowhard. The Prophet Muhammad PBUH’s marriage to Lady Aisha RA was completely normal as she was an adult woman both physical and mentally http://www.muhaddith.org/earlymarriage/EarlyMarriage-part1.html and http://www.muhaddith.org/earlymarriage/EarlyMarriage-part2.html

As for the common accusation that since the Prophet Muhammad SAW married and consummated the blessed marriage with Lady Aisha RA when she was 9 years old that it someone implies or means Muslims today in the 21st Century CE are suppose to marry women at that age; nothing could be further from the case. Islamic scholars have always realized societies change, for example there is no mention of telephones, cars, planes, etc. in any early Islamic source or scholarship (because these things obviously didn’t exist back then) but does that mean we aren’t allowed to use such devices or vehicles? Of course not! The main core teachings of the religion of al-Islam are clear as day: the Oneness of God being the most important other side issues have to be interpreted by competent Islamic scholars.

On the issue of the age of marriage in particular societies have changed largely due to the process of industrialization in recent centuries that have in many places (obviously particularly in the West) led to a style of life that has retarded (not in the sense of actual mental retardation, retarded as in slowed down) particularly the MENTAL growth and maturity of what we term youth. The children or youth in the West today are mentally babied by their parents and society they are required to go to school till 18, most of them have all their needs provided for them by “Mommy and Daddy”, etc. So naturally these youth in the West and America are not very mature (mentally). This is a recent phenomenon due to what is often termed “increasing comforts of life”. In pre-modern society, both PHYSICAL adulthood (that is PUBERTY; to put it bluntly a male being able to produce semen and thus impregnate a female; and a female having her period, producing eggs and being able to give birth to a baby. This happened in modern times in just one example in 1933 in Peru 5 year old Lina Medina gave birth to a child http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lina_Medina) and MENTAL adulthood (aka maturity) were reached at the SAME TIME. This again has changed in modern times, a good book on this is called “The Invention of Childhood” by author Hugh Cunningham http://www.amazon.com/Invention-Childhood-Hugh-Cunningham/dp/0563493909

In modern times since the speed at which mental adulthood or maturity has largely slowed down and become (at least often in the West lol, i.e. immature babied youth) most often after the time of actual PHYSICAL puberty (when a male again produces semen and a female menstruates and produces eggs). This is modern times every Muslim majority nation I can think of has upped their minimum age of marriage in the law, is this allegedly “going against” Islamic law, no this is actually following Islamic law. Read from: http://www.muhaddith.org/earlymarriage/EarlyMarriage-part1.html

Quote- First of all, it is untrue that Islamic age of consent is lower in modern times compared to other laws. For example, the US and other countries currently allow marriage well under the age of 16 with pregnancy, or parental or court approval.[97] In contrast, 17 Islamic countries have age of consent ranging from 15 to 18 years with parental consent,[98] [99] [100] [101] [102] [103] [104] [105] [106] [107] [108] [109] [110] [111] [112] [113] [114] which was raised specifically as an implementation of Islamic Law.[115] [116] In fact, because of the contemporary delay in maturity, marriage at puberty today would violate 6 basic Islamic rules:

      1) “Rushd”, psychological maturity, or “prudent judgement” is required before marriage.[117] [118]

      2) No one should harm anyone else. [119] [120] [121] [122]

      3) People’s best interests must be observed.[123]

      4) No one should bear any burden beyond their capacity. [124] [125] [126] [127] [128]

      5) Governments and guardians are entrusted to act correctly.[129] [130] [131]

      6) Compliance to “urf”, new social norms that are considered good.[132] [133] [134]

Citation [132] Tafseer Al Nasafi: {command to what is Urf} (Quran: The Heights 7:199, p. 176) “What is considered good and fine among actions, or every feature that reason confirms and that Islamic Law accepts.” {وَأْمُرْ بِالْعُرْفِ} بالمعروف والجميل من الأفعال أو هو كل خصلة يرتضيها العقل ويقبلها الشرع

      end quote.

Also in closing I recommend this good quick lecture on this overall topic by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf to everyone.

Rep. Steve King Believes Obama’s Middle Name Matters

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klhOLh2luBw&feature=channel_page 300 250]

Rep. Steve King who recently cast the sole vote against a memorial for slavery which unanimously passed the house believed that if Obama got elected AlQaeda would be dancing in the streets. He also believes that Obama’s middle name matters because Muslims will be dancing in the streets.

    • Barack Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope,” contains a appealing title. It has a taste of bravery mixed confidently. There is nothing Pollyanna regarding it. I would possibly not support everything he says, but he’s our president, and for me, he inspires belief. Which can do more for a region than any amount of backroom deals. Hope gives us energy, and energy sustains us through trying times. Boy, we’ve had them. I’m from West Texas, and I did not vote for Bush. When McCain ran against Obama, I was a citizen of Arizona, but I gave audacious hope a chance. The fight for progress and laying the foundations of prosperity is just not over. I’ve come across the quips of those who don’t think Obama can do it. But step back a second. Would anyone have most of us fail just to tarnish the star of an incumbent for whom they did not vote? Attempting to keep our priorities straight, let’s work together with our president and build our future.

Joe Kaufman O Meter #2: “Moved by Kahane”

Joe Kaufman

Joe Kaufman

Kaufman-O-Meter #2:

In a now infamous article titled, A Kahane Legacy Lost Kaufman wrote a eulogy admiring the late Rabbi Meir Kahane and expressing angst and deep sadness at his loss while affirming that the ideology that Meir Kahane developed was correct.

It is an embarrassing article for Kaufman, especially since he attempts to now posit himself as a mainstream American patriot when in fact he has supported radical violent/racist ideologies and participated with banned organizations such as the JDL, founded by Kahane and designated a terrorist organization by the US State Department.

Kaufman wrote in the article that he posted on the now defunct JDL forums in 2001,

I never did get that chance to see him [Kahane], though. He was murdered seventeen days before the event…I recall seeing one of my fellow JSU members crying, after hearing about this. I couldn’t believe that a person that I knew so little about…could elicit such feelings in someone… at least someone that wasn’t related or even a friend of the family! But I soon learned otherwise, as I watched the film that was shown in Kahane’s place. It was a film of a speech that he had given previously, and I cannot describe to you properly just how moving it was!

Who exactly is Kaufman so “moved” by? Well, Meir Kahane was an advocate for the expulsion of all non-Jews from the Biblical Israel which includes the West Bank and Gaza, he was a proponent of a theocratic Jewish Kingdom governed by Torah Law, he founded the terrorist JDL which was banned in the USA and the Kach party which was eventually banned in Israel for being racist and violent. Adherents to the Kahanist ideology have engaged in terrorism against Muslims and Arabs, as was the case with Dr. Baruch Goldstein who massacred over 30 worshipers in the Ibrahimi Mosque in Palestine.

So how long will ole’ corky Kaufman put up the facade that he is a die-hard American patriot when it seems he is motivated not by democratic ideals but the spirit of his late mentor Rabbi Meir Kahane?

Also see:

Kaufman-O-Meter #1: “Nuke the Mooslims!”

Who is he?:

Joe Kaufman, has been on the Anti-Muslim scene for quite a while now and is dubbed by the far Right-Wing FrontPageMag as, you guessed it…another one of their ”Investigative Journalists.”  That he has been influenced by Meir Kahane and the Kahanist ideology is well documented, as is his love and angst for Kahane.

In the past he has been accused of contributing to the terrorist organization founded by Kahane known as JDL (Jewish Defense League) while others accuse Kaufman of at the very least holding views that parallel JDL positions.

Kaufman’s unsavory associations and views are quite real and they are only dangerous to America if you’re stupid enough to swallow his conspiracy theories but other than that he is simply a half-baked paranoid conspiracy theorist, some what along the lines of the “9/11 Truthers.”

In every nook and cranny there is a “Mooslim”…hiding and ready to get ya…so beware and be afraid. Be veryyyy afraid goes his story.

In this special LoonWatch series we will detail the exploits and punchlines that Krazy Kaufman throws out there and attempts to pass on as serious journalism, commentary and investigation.

    • The_Punisher

Why not gives jews their bloody ‘holy land’? there are already about 67 muslim countires, let the jews be already. Its only land, the world would be a better place if Isreal were let be and muslims in turn would prosper because they would be seen in a better light.

    • Kahane was right!

    • Northlander

This is a wonderful series you’ve started on Kaufman. Kaufman in the grand scheme of things is a nobody and his hypocrisy is borne out by his depraved and subjective comments. I remember reading a back and forth he was having once in the comment section on FrontPageMag in which his associations and comments were being brought to his attention. He was asked by the one he was debating with to repudiate Meir Kahane and his terrorism, he couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Holocaust Museum Shooting Exposes the Absurdity of Islamophobes

Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck

Recently, as many who follow the news are aware we were given a glimpse of hatred and racism with the shootings at the Holocaust Museum.  It was a tragic hate incident in which a security guard lost his life reminding us that there is a lot of prejudice out there directed at many different communities. It also revealed the strange and obscurantist pathologies that exist amongst the extreme right-wing and those who attempt to pass themselves off as mainstream media.

So it is not hard to believe that even with this shooting, which was carried out by 89 year old James Von Brunn, a right-wing White Nationalist, there are those who want to blame it on Islam and Muslims! This highlights something well known, though not much talked about, in which loonie Islamophobes and Muslim haters will attempt to tie every event that they can to Muslims regardless how unrelated it may be. Such was the case with  Steven Emerson who claimed that the Oklahoma City Bombings revealed a “Middle Eastern trait,” or Debbie Schlussel claiming that the Virginia Tech Massacre was committed by a Muslim even when it was clear that it was a Korean male with no link to Islam.

These are the times we live in, with heightened suspicion of Muslims translating itself into absurd ideas that Muslims are behind every plot, they are the boogey men in your closet and the monsters underneath your bed.

This time we have Glenn Beck and none other then — you guessed it — Debbie Schlussel outlandishly linking the Holocaust Museum shooting to Islam and Muslims. As Gawker noted,”Beck, with a straight face mind you, looked into the camera and said that America as it stands today is a “boiling pot” fueled by extremists groups like Al Qaeda and 9/11 truthers who are sowing the seeds of extremism and hatred in this country.”

Beck implies somehow in his warped world that America is brimming with extremist (Muslim) terrorists from groups such as Al-Qaeda. To prove his point he shows footage of a man speaking about a crazy plot in Arabic. We aren’t told who the guy is, where he said what he was saying or how that indicates that America stands today at a “boiling pot.” It is a strange point to make especially when the shooter James Von Brunn had nothing to do with Islam or Muslims, in fact it highlights what seems to be Beck’s attempts to cover up for his incendiary rhetoric which really does fuel extremism,

Beck…doesn’t make mention, much less offer an apology for, the lunacy he’s been promoting over the radio and television airwaves over the years, lunacy that directly feeds the derangement of people like James von Brunn, inflammatory rhetoric he’s been spewing about America turning into a totalitarian communist regime under Obama, the New World Order, Mexicans pouring over our borders to take our jobs and rape our children, FEMA concentration camps, ACORN rigging an American Presidential election for Obama, that dark, powerful, unseen forces are controlling the American economy, how liberals might to assassinate him—We could go on and on and on.

Debbie Schlussel

Debbie Schlussel

Debbie Sclussel, described by Gawker as an “Anne Coulter wanna-be” goes further than Glenn Beck stating explicitly that “It is because of Muslims…that neo-Nazis feel comfortable manifesting their views about Jews.” Can it get anymore loony than that? This is coming from a woman who recently joked about the genocide of Palestinians, while writing about clashes between rival Palestinian forces which left six dead Schlussel stated, “As we say in lawyer jokes, that’s a start. Six down, a few million to go.” Does the irony of these peoples statements go right over their heads?

Here is the totality of the absurdity spewed by Schlussel,

It is because of Muslims—who are the biggest contributor to the worldwide rise in anti-Semitism to Holocaust-eve levels—that neo-Nazis feel comfortable—far more comfortable!—manifesting their views about Jews. Until 9/11 and our resulting new tolerance for Islam, the neo-Nazi types were marginalized and howling at the wind. We know who has been targeting Jewish museums and centers affiliated with Jews in recent years. And it hasn’t been, in general, 89-year-old White guys.

Mr. Von Brunn has been on this planet for 89 years, and he didn’t feel comfortable shooting up a Holocaust museum until now—this new era of “tolerance,” in which we must tolerate the most extremist Muslim behaviors and sentiments. It’s, in general, not 89-year-old White guys telling people at churches worldwide and in religious schools that the Jews are the devil incarnate, a filthy tribe, the sons of pigs and monkeys, subhuman, etc.

No, it’s guys with names like Mohammed and Ahmed on our own American streets who make Mr. Von Brunn far more at ease in 2009 than he was even in 1999 to attack places associated with the Jews. They created the comfort zone for James W. Brunn to engage in today’s shooting.

Moreover, not only do White supremacists and neo-Nazis work with Muslims in many, many documented cases and investigations. But they are basically one and the same. The only difference is that one guy is named James and the other guy is named Ahmed. And the former only has a few thousand discredited, marginalized compatriots.

Whereas the latter has over a billion followers and a U.S. President kissing their collective ass.

Not only is she attempting to blame the Holocaust Museum tragedy on Muslims but she attempts to blur the obvious-as-day-and-night difference between Muslims and Nazis by saying, ‘Neo-Nazis/White Supremacists and Muslims are one and the same thing.’ Really Debbie? This fairy-tale from Debbie world would probably not sit well with the many Muslims who have faced violence from White supremacists and Nazis or Black Muslims who are part of Islam or Arab Muslims who are a Semitic people despised by the Nazi Aryan ideology.

In  “Debbie in Wonderland” all rationality goes out the window when you swallow the Islamophobic pill — anything goes. Up is down and down is up, black is white and white is black, and Nazis are Muslims and Muslims are Nazis.

The nut who shot up the Holocaust Museum has been misinterpreted as a “right wing fanatic”. The majority Conservative thought has always been Pro-Israel,and conversely, the majority Liberal(even, ironically, amongst Jewish-Americans)position has always called for sympathy for the Palestinians!(See: vehement, outspoken anti-semite President Jimmy Carter)

RE: President Obama’s faith. He’s never been dedicated to any religion (unless Socialism counts-and I believe it is a “religion”). As a new kid in town, Obama joined Reverend Wright’s congregation for street cred in his desire to work his way into the Chicago Machine. Even so, I believe he never attended more that a few services there (have you ever sen photos/videos of him in Wright’s church beside his marriage and his children’s baptisms?). That’s why it was news to him what Wright was preaching on Sunday morning. Observers have said that he hasn’t been seen attending church since he’s been in office except on Christian holy days since he’s been in office. He is on the other hand, very active in his devotion to Socialist Ideology in most all of his political decisions.

    • Barry Lyndon

Quick question, why aren’t any of the right wingers ranting about how cozy bush was with the saudis? Or bush’ pro-islam comments? Why don’t we hear them claiming that Bush is a muslim? Oh wait that’s right, they’re racist hypocrites, if a white guy’s pals with the saudis that’s okay in their eyes but if a Black man visits them he’s a ‘jihadi muslim’.

    • Adam979

Obama did not bow to the Saudi king, can you leave your silly thoughts to yourself please.

    • kaka

elric was agreeing with your point you tard edu ma kate yourself so you wont make a fool of yourself on the interwebz

    • Bonni

Elric, Americans DO NOT bow to Kings, ANY Kings. It’s the reason we fought the Revolutionary War and have a Constitution, you fool.

    • Elric66

“Obama was not born Muslim…his father was not a practising Muslim and he was not raised by him…end of.”

What does it matter if his father was practicing or not or if he was raised by him? And of course there was his deep graceful bow to the Saudi king.

    • Nissa

Yeah..posting a few sensationalist stories without context of the cultural and historical situations really does a lot for Muslim women. I actually work in the community to help Muslim women, and they would take offense at your avatar…its Orientalist and plays up to stereotypes about Muslim women needing to be ‘unveiled’. It doesn’t insult Muslim men it objectifies Muslim women…. – would you expose Muslim women being oppressed by non-Muslims? No, because it doesn’t fit into your agenda.

Anyone who thinks Spencer knows anything about Islam is more than a little deluded…and as for telling the world how evil I am….its morons like him that are part of creating a polarised society in which violence is sanctioned as ‘defense’. Clearly I do have a sense of humour, I think you are bloody hilarious, if a little loony.

    • Bonni

Nissa, I have done more to expose Muslim oppression of women than any so-called feminist could even thing of doing. As far as my avatar goes, it is done as an insult to Muslim men, not women but apparently you have no sense of humor either. Spencer knows more about Islam than you Muslims care to admit and you don’t like it because he tells the world how evil you people really are.

I hope you had a look at some of the Beheadings on my website. They are among the most popular along with the Muslim men marrying and having sex with little girls stories.

    • Nissa

Oh dear Bonni- of course we all know he is Muslim…and now we run the free world..pity that hasn’t helped the Palestinians or the Kashmiris or the Rohingya? Also…please don’t throw around words like ‘taqiyya’ when you only have the Robert Spencer definition of it and know nothing about the concept and purpose… Obama was not born Muslim…his father was not a practising Muslim and he was not raised by him…end of. On a different note, your delightful bare naked muslim site has a lot on how Muslims abuse Muslim women and then you little avatar actually sexualises and dehumanises Muslim women- of course as the reproducers of Muslims sympathy for them only extends as far as it suits you, right? I’m sure that is lost on you though…

    • Emanuel is a self-hating Jew whom real Jews know is not really Jewish. But like many liberals, he worships at the altar of liberalism, NOT Judaism. In WWII Germany, he would have been one of the Hitler Jews who shoved fellow Jews into the gas chambers to avoid being gassed themselves.

And yes, I know that Obama is a Muslim because he was born a Muslim and never was baptized into the Church, which means he is still a Muslim. In Islam, if one apostates oneself, it is punishable by death and we don’t see any Muslims calling for his head. Even his so-called pastor has a degree in Islamic studies.

But more than what I feel, Muslims know he is still a Muslim and I have much evidence of Muslims saying as much on camera. You should look up the word Taqiyya if you want to know what Obama is.

Have you noticed that he has not stepped foot in a church since becoming President?

    • Garibaldi

Bonni, Your comment reflects perfectly how ludicrous Islamophobes and anti-Muslims are. Do you still really believe that Obama is a Muslim? Do you believe Obama hates Jews when Rahm Emanuel, his Chief of Staff, is Jewish?

    • It isn’t Islamophobia when they really ARE trying to kill you. Even though the Holocaust Museum shooter wasn’t a Muslim, his actions were encouraged by the Muslim in the White House, a Jew/Israel hater extraordinaire.

    • Courtney

“Moreover, not only do White supremacists and neo-Nazis work with Muslims in many, many documented cases and investigations. But they are basically one and the same. The only difference is that one guy is named James and the other guy is named Ahmed.”

Yeah right!!!! Like you see Neo-Nazis sitting down to tea with any Muslim… They are an equal opportunity hater! I really don’t like Glenn Beck.

    • wrister21

Very good article. It points out the on-going trend for the right wing extremists to take an event and twist it into whatever ends they are promoting – typically hatred towards a specific group whether it be Muslims or liberals. Frankly I’m getting tired of this sort of crap. I just learned of another loon – Pam Geller – who I guess has been around a lot longer than I care to think about. It gets so old but I fear that the ranks of the loons are growing so, hopefully the ranks of the sane are growing too. Such a shame that these people are getting main stream exposure. Thanks Fox. And Priscilla, thanks for something positive. I need it after Schlussel and Beck’s negativity and hatred.

    • Salaam, Thank you for the comment Priscilla and for highlighting the outreach of Muslims working together with the Jewish community. It is a very good lesson on solidarity and community harmony in the face of hatred and violence.

    • tope_gudgeon

Schlussel is uninformed. If she looked at any newspaper, she would find the assailants history. 1983 – convicted of attempting to kidnap members of the Federal Reserve Board. 1981 – He was arrested outside the room where the board was meeting, carrying a revolver, knife and sawed-off shotgun. At the time, police said Von Brunn wanted to take the members hostage because of high interest rates and the nation’s economic difficulties.”

I thought we were blaming everything on the economy these days.

    • remora_inconnu

I’m so happy to see this article here so quickly. Good choice of quotes.

Do you think anyone has told her that Muslim does not equal extremist? Seriously, maybe she doesn’t know.

    • Garibaldi

Thank you for the compliment WDSF. Debbie is a hate-spewing individual. It is sad that she saw the need to use the Holocaust Memorial tragedy to further her hatred of Islam. Has she been on Fox News recently? I wonder what the last time it was she was on. Any knowledge on that?

    • WDSF

      Once again great work!

It is well-noted that Fox commentator “Debbie” is hate-spewing individual. The tragedy at the Memorial highlights how right-wing supremacists permeate in our society.

Steven Emerson: “Wowser!”

inspector_gadget

Inspector Gadget

Steven Emerson, a pillar of the Islamophobic movement, promotes himself as an “Investigative journalist” exposing terrorism and the supposed “fifth column activities of American Muslims” through his Orwellian organization, The Investigative Project.  He claims, just as his counterparts Douglas Farah and Joe Kaufman do, that all his work is done in defense of America and in order to safeguard the homeland.  Yet his claims are as mendacious and exaggerated as the other two.

He is simply the progenitor of some of the vilest, most imbecilic anti-Muslim hysteria on the inter-net and in America today. This is the case because more often than not he is so off the mark in his accusations and conclusions that it makes you wonder why anyone would take him seriously as a so-called “Investigative Journalist.”

His hunt to “expose” American Muslims is almost akin to watching an  Inspector Gadget cartoon because of its hilarity if it weren’t for the fact that at least Inspector Gadget was sincere and actually solved a case or two. Unfortunately, it looks like Emerson lacks the high tech gadgetry that was at the disposal of Inspector Gadget and that might show him the error of his ways or at the very least help him  get his foot out of his mouth.

Instead of using a magnifying glass to look for evidence, Emerson’s technique of choice is to make up the evidence as he goes along,  Andy Birkey of the Minnesota Independent notes:

Emerson has a long history of getting into hot water over his anti-Muslim rhetoric. In the 1998 nuclear standoff between India and Pakistan, Emerson fed reporters with an informant who said Pakistan was set to strike India with a nuclear weapon. The media eventually found the informant to be unreliable – but not until international media had used Emerson’s source and intensified an international crisis.

In 1990, he was accused of plagiarism in his writings about Pan Am 103.

….

He sued a Florida paper after it published reports that he was supplying reporters with documents he said were from the FBI. The Florida Weekly Planet reported that the documents were frauds and Emerson sued. When he couldn’t substantiate his claims, he withdrew the lawsuit.

Emerson once claimed that an extremist Muslim group put out a hit on him and that the FBI offered to put him in a witness protection program. The FBI denied that claim.

In 1995, right after the Oklahoma City Bombing, Emerson was quoted on air stating that he believed the bombing showed “a Middle Eastern trait,” he came to this conclusion because according to him it was done “to inflict as many casualties as possible.” Wowser!

He went on to insinuate, with out providing any evidence, that Oklahoma was a hotbed of radicalism, “Oklahoma City, I can tell you, is probably considered one of the largest centers of Islamic radical activity outside the Middle East.” Double wowser!

Of course, it was later proven that the real culprits behind the bombings were Timothy McVeigh and

Steven Emerson

Steven Emerson

a few other accomplices that were driven by a nationalistic white ideology and not by Muslims or Arabs. Emerson in his haste it seems did not consider the possibility that maybe something originating from other than the Middle East was responsible for the bombing, nor did he apologize for his gaffe.

This is par for the course with Steven Emerson and his motivation is quite plain as the Wall Street Journal stated in 1993, “Mr. Emerson’s prime role is to whitewash Israeli governments and revile their critics.” The Jerusalem Post has also asserted that Emerson has close ties to the Israeli equivalent of the CIA-the Mossad.

Does Emerson have an unconditional bias towards Israel and an incentive in portraying Arabs and Muslims as terrorists behind all evil? Sure seems like it!

Anyone who is critical of Israeli actions and brings to light that it might not be in American interests to put our unconditional backing behind every Israeli adventure gives Emerson a compulsive fit, and when anyone calls him out on it he returns to the smear job of casting those he disagrees with as Anti-Semites. Johnathan F. Sugg, formerly of the Tampa Bay Weekly Planet wrote for Alternet,

“He has been run out of many respectable newsrooms. His response was the smear job. When The Washington Post shunned him, he branded the paper pro-Hamas.’ When the Miami Herald strafed Emerson’s shoddy claims, he wrote the city’s Jewish leaders claiming the paper’s reporter was nothing short of racist.”

Jane Hunter in a piece for Extra! characterized Emerson’s journalism as “nimble in its treatment of facts, often credulous of intelligence sources, and almost invariably supportive of the Israeli government.”

Former Chief of Operations and Analysis at the CIA’s Counter Terrorism Center Vince Cannistraro described Emerson as “dishonest” and “Joseph McCarthy-like” and said that, “word has got around on what he (Emerson) is, that he’s a paid polemicist, not a journalist.”

This is the modus operandi of our “Investigative Journalist,” who it seems is more of an Inspector Gadget wannabe just without all the hardware.  He is driven by a desire not to safe guard America from dangerous threats but to exaggerate them and sell his agenda of smearing American Muslims and Arabs through any means necessary. To that we can only say “Wowser!”

Links to IDF and Mossad. That’s enough for me.

    • Schlaftius

      @Steve Z

Emerson never predicted 9/11, he just vilified Islam for the sake of his paymasters, the zionist interest groups in the US and in Israel. He doesn’t care about America or Americans, he only cares to please his bosses in Tel Aviv. You are one of those deluded hate-filled fools take for a ride by the likes of Emerson and Spencer and Pipes. They hate America more than Alqaeda.

    • Ryan

What about all the times he was proven wrong? Also, we were hunting bin laden before then. Any one with less bigotry could have guessed that.

    • steve z.

Great piece if you like terrorists and acts of terrorism. Steve warned this Government of a major attack long before 9/11 and being right about this makes up for a whole lot of predictions or opinions he may have miscalutated. I would much rather have someone looking out for people’s safety while at the same time risking his own, than read a totally baised critique from a bunch of bigger loons.

    • JB

My God, does anyone still take this loon seriously??

    • DrM

Emerson claimed that the recent fires in Australia was the work of Muslim extremists, yet has failed to issuing a retraction since it turned out to be a non-Muslim white arsonist. He was also promoting a fake Pakistani “nuclear defector” in the 1990s. He’s earned his shabbos goyim kneepads.

    • punky_skewster

Can you believe that some loons still believe the Oklahoma City Bombing was, in fact, done by political Islamic extremists?
