Watch Rep. Peter King Lie Through His Teeth: “NYPD, Doesn’t Profile Muslims”

That the NYPD was profiling Muslims based on their religion is an indisputable fact, but King of course can’t and won’t admit it. His entire political career at the moment hinges on the “radicalization of Muslim Americans” myth:

The lies are not a surprise, but reporters need to do a better job at challenging politicians like King.

Rep. Peter King On NYPD Muslim Surveillance: ‘There Is No Profiling

Representative Peter King (R-NY) said Monday during an appearance on CNN’s Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien that “there is no racial profiling” by the New York Police Department.

The New Yorker‘s Ryan Lizza asked King first what he thought of profiling as a practice, and then insinuated that perhaps King’s staunch defense of everything NYPD is problematic.

House Democrats Thursday introduced a resolution calling on the NYPD to end programs that infiltrated mosques and spied on innocent muslims.

King responded to Lizza, “First of all, there is no profiling. And that’s the absolute nonsense that people like you and others are propagating.”

Lizza quickly defended his question. “I’m not propagating anything,” he said. “I’m just telling you that there’s been some very good questions raised about what the NYPD’s doing. ”

King replied, “I’m telling you there is no profiling. So, I want you to take that back…. You have no evidence of profiling at all. They use terms like profiling, spying, casually and cavalierly. And you don’t know what you’re talking about.”

And when guest anchor Brooke Baldwin interjected that Izza was just brining up some valid points, King responded emphatically, “They’re not valid points!”

King and fellow New York Republican Rep. Bob Turner demanded Democrats apologize for the resolution Friday, issuing a statement that read, “We are utterly dumbfounded and shocked that after such a slanderous attack, the overwhelming majority of congressional Democrats and the entire Democratic leadership voted for the Holt amendment and against the NYPD. We believe the Democrats owe New York and the NYPD an explanation for their shameful surrender to political correctness.”

This isn’t the first time King–who chairs the House’s Homeland Security Committee and who has held hearings on the radicalization of Islam in the US— has defended the NYPD from criticism over its surveillance of muslim communities.

In March, when New Jersey Governor Chris Christie criticized the NYPD’s operations in Newark, King responded, “It’s really disturbing and disappointing to have someone like Chris Christie join on this politically correct bandwagon. I wish Chris Christie was more concerned about keeping people alive than he is about trying to score cheap political points.”

Also in March, King joined the narrator of “The Third Jihad” at a rally held by muslims in defense of NYPD surveillance of muslims.

He could be telling the truth. I hear how the police are switching their activities to detecting home grown right wing looking “terrorists”.

Folks at Jihadwatch and the like will be surprised when they get stopped by the Police and finally realise what it feels like.

    @”kafir harby”

Your a pathetic racist, hatemonger, and xenophobe not worth any rational human beings time. Be that as it may how exactly are you going to find out who supposedly “looks like Mooslims”?! You do realize Muslims come from all different backgrounds right? But I assume (being your not to bright) you also support racial profiling and subsequent police brutality against other oppressed minorities in the US like African-Americans and Hispanics as well even though anti-racism activists have long shown the complete falsehood and lies of those who promote racial profiling in those instances:

Also I guarantee you, with a rate of 99.999%!, that the next terrorist WAR against innocent people will be launched by either the US or Zionist “Israel”! And as the greater British and European intellectual (something you have no idea about of course) Peter Ustinov once so eloquently put it “‘Terrorism’ is the war of the poor and powerless, and WAR is the TERRORISM of the rich and powerful”.

  • TheBig-T

    @Kafir Herpy

  • Rob

My problem is that someone who believes that “a rate of 99,999%” has any kind of meaning believes that he/she/it has the right to refer to anyone else as an idiot. First get a brain, then get an education, inbred home-schooled troll.

  • khushboo

Kafir Harpy, the next attack will be, as usual, from idiots like you attacking innocent Muslims. Leave us grown ups alone and go play in traffic!

  • Kafir Harby

Rep. King is right, the NYPD is just doing it’s job: defending the public from islamic thugs. Should there any racial profiling? Damned right it should. All people that look like mooslims, should be checked and double-checked, because the next terror attack will be performed by mooslims at a rate of 99,999%. So what’s your problem, idiots?

  • Please, could these people stop lying through their teeth? Muslims are targeted by the government, did you hear this news a few days back where a toddler from a Muslim family was kicked off a flight being mistaken for a terrorist cause her name was on the “no fly zone”?

  • khushboo

Perhaps hypocrite King should stop being “politically correct” and admit he’s profiling Muslims. Perhaps King should stop scoring political points by accusing only Democrats of scoring political points!! Perhaps King should take a long look in the mirror!

  • Nur Alia

To Mr. King, there is no profiling of Muslims. Lets be REALLY honest here. What is NORMAL in a society is not profiling. The bigotry against Muslims is rooted deeply in the western discourse, and it is NORMAL to ‘profile’ Muslims, based on the percpetion of the discourse.

For example, most westerners belive that all Arabs are Muslim, and all Muslim are Arab. They belive that only Muslims wear turbans, and dont know that the burkah is a ‘style’ of hijab. They belive that the Israeli/Palistinian conflict is ABOUT Muslims at constant war with Jews…and dont know that there are some Christian Palistinians.

These are just some of the very easily dispelled notions westerners have about Islam and Muslims.

So…to Mr King’s defence, he doesnt know that there is ‘profiling’ of Muslims. Rememeber, we cant deny what the Nazi regime did in Europe during World War 2, because it was so rooted into the discourse, that what was done seemed ‘normal’…and people actually wrote things down, because they were proud of what they ‘accomplished’ in thier view.

Christopher Hecker, Virginia Man, Charged With Threatening To Kill President Barack Obama

    From the AP:

A criminal complaint filed in federal court in Harrisonburg said Christopher Hecker of Waynesboro made death threats against the president and threatened to bomb the White House, hotels and other places, including Philadelphia City Hall and the site of the former World Trade Center. An affidavit said the threats were emailed to various media outlets.

The Harrisonburg Daily News-Record reports on the content of one of the emails, sent last month to Turner Corp., the parent company of CNN.

“I sent a bomb threat to the White House today and to several radio stations,” Hecker wrote. “Sooner or later I will grab someone, maybe in the woods, on the trail, and beat the life out of them.”

Continued Hecker: “[Obama] is the one that is destroying patriotism in the U.S.A. Ted Nugent is right. So, Obama is allowing me to be tortured to the point that I may murder someone, rather than deal with the mess he made. Your president is a coward.”

Time to Photo and write down all DL numbers and SS # of any one going to republican convention 2012 because 1 person action= everyone in that group

Homemade bomb detonates at Wisconsin Planned Parenthood clinic

    By Stephen C. Webster (

A homemade explosive device detonated outside a Planned Parenthood clinic in Grand Chute, Wisconsin on Sunday night.

Police are still looking for whoever left the device, which exploded around 7:30 p.m. and caused little damage to the building. Nobody was injured.

The attack is one of a string across the U.S. in recent months.

Amid a heated debate over funding for Planned Parenthood last month, the Fort Worth offices of Texas State Senator Wendy Davis (D) — a strong supporter of the female health program — were attacked with two firebombs. Another clinic in the Dallas area was attacked in a similar manner by a separate person last July.
Personally I find nothing wrong with profiling especially in regard to the Christian community from which terror plots have come many times before

While we at it lets pull over all black people on the freeway with nice cars you know since Blacks cant afford nice cars it must be stolen

NO WAIT THAT RACIST……YOU CANT DO THAT am I right workingstuff????

  • workingstiff

Thats right, KIng is chairman of the House’s Homeland Security Committee. And he oughta know. Personally I find nothing wrong with profiling especially in regard to the muslim community from which terror plots have come many times before.

  • TheBig-T

statistically, you have a greater chance of dying from peanut allergies than from the “MUSLAMIC TERRORISTS”, why not have Radicalization hearing on peanut manufactueres of Cigarette companies since they’ve killed more Americans than terrorist

  • Hatethehaterz

Honestly, the only real “radicalization” I see in America is from right wing anti-Muslim bigots. Not from average Muslims.

  • mindy1

I respect the NYPD but we have to get better intellegence gathering so profiling goes away. This just scares people off 🙁

  • It’s not just profiling, but the use of a so-called “radicalization model” that uses legally protected religious activity and political views to say that a subject “is dangerous” and a “potential terrorist.”

There have been radicalization models before 9-11 that focused only on violent activity, not legally protected behavior, such as growing a beard, wearing religious clothes and believing that Israel give the Palestinians the shaft.

So, the notion in the NYPD spying reports that some students of a Muslim background “were radicalizing” could mean faithful Muslims who actively speak out on the Middle East peace process ARE NOT violent and at risk for committing a “terrorist act.” Also note the different reactions to the term “radical” used for other issues, ex. “radical economic policy,” but when use in relation to “Islam and Muslims, it becomes shorthand for “terrorism and terrorists.”

Some of us out here believe that the term “radicalization” should be dropped and some believe that the term should be confined to those who actually advocate and promote violence.

I highly suspect that the “work of the NYPD” has been exported to Europe, and NO European nation should be using the “NYPD radicalization model” and it should be banned for use on the ground that it violates human rights. I high;y suspect that the AIVD is using this “model” — and they had better not be! It violates human rights in the context of Europe and European human rights conventions.

  • Abdul-Rahman

Peter King is a clown, and once anyone reads he supported the IRA in Northern Ireland anything he claims to say about supposed “terrorism” is to be completely ignored. As Jon Stewart’s show put it what is the difference between Hamas in Palestine and the IRA fighting the British in Northern Ireland (and carrying out attacks in the Amerikkkan ally of England itself) it comes to one is Muslim and the other is not and Peter King is simply a xenophobe against Arabs and Muslims and doesn’t agree with the cause of say Palestinian resistance against Zionism (like he did IRA resistance against British occupation and oppression in Northern Ireland).
